Chapter 220 - 418 | Last Report

Sengoku looked at the young warlord and sighed. Picking up a letter from the table, "Its about this. Who wrote this letter… and why should I believe you? This letter is accusing one of the Vice Admiral of treason. And to top it all of it is coming from a pirate."

Luffy rolled his eyes, "Oh, so you are mad that you didn't catch the rat before I did?" he snorted, not amused, "That letter was written by one of my new crewmates… Trafalgar Law. He might have joined the crew recently, but he's a good man. That I trust… and well, he had some interesting stories to tell about a warlord colleague of mine."

Sengoku didn't interrupt as Luffy continued.

"But what I find truly amusing is that… there is a snake among your ranks and you don't know about it," he said, "I might have not known the Rosinante guy, but from what Law told him… he was a good man. Certainly one different from your usual world nobles. And well, like every good man, he died early."

Sengoku's fist clenched under the table. Rosinante was a son to him. He might have carried the blood of a world noble, but he was a good man. Sengoku knew about Law, and Rosinante had told him about him. But that was years back.

After that, the kid had disappeared. Only a few months ago did he start his journey and Sengoku was keeping an eye on him. Especially since the kid showed off the abilities of an Ope Ope no mi user.

Usually, Sengoku wouldn't have believed a pirate of a marine.

Vice Admiral Vergo's records were flawless. But recently there have been a few complaints against him. Especially by Vice Admiral Sinbad. He had reported his suspicion of Vergo working with either the Beast Pirates or the Underworld King Joker (Doflamingo). His report was based on not getting any help, when it was needed.

And in some way, things did add up. But before the war suspecting a his class member, such as a Vice Admiral isn't something you do. It would only create chaos in your ranks.

But the letter was supposedly written by Law, the same kid that Rosinante tried to save. And it went on, telling about a lot of details only a person there at the incident would have known.

And things add up now. How the information was leaked, how in many incidents good marines went missing, about the ships of slavery always safe routes, and even the recent G-5 base incident. All of this was done because of one man, and that was Vergo, and by his extension Doflamingo.

Sengoku didn't like the man. He was a world noble, and unlike his brother and the rest of his family, he carried himself as the scum he was. But for now, there was nothing he could do.

"That Dolfamingo…" Sengoku gritted his teeth before he sighed. "I knew he must have someone in the marines, but not this high…"

Luffy smirked, "So, old man? What should we do?" he asked, "I'm always up for some good grilled Flamingo…"

Sengoku sighed again, "Even though it pains me to say this… But don't do anything. And, whatever you do, don't leak the news of this here."

Luffy raised an eyebrow, "You do know I'm a pirate and I'm free to do anything…"

"I'm not ordering you… I'm asking for a favor," Sengoku said, his head slightly down, "But my hands are tied, I want nothing more than hunt down both Dolfamingo and Vergo for what they did… but doing so just before the war will cause unrest. So it's better to do it after the war…" What was left unsaid was that the five elders might back Dolfamingo's side because of him carried royal blood more than anything.

He might not be a world noble anymore, but that didn't mean they didn't value him any less. Sengoku suspected that Dolfamingo might have something that made him so valuable to them. Maybe some secrets.

Luffy snorted, "You really think Mingo will care about the war, call it a hunch. But he's going to cause more problems if you let him live. Heck, he might even help Kaido with that new zoan drug of his." He said crossing his arms, "But I can do you the favor, I won't tell anyone about it. But you better not forget that."

Sengoku nodded, "You have my thanks." he said, "Also, Dolfamingo might come in a day or so for the meeting. Try not to fight him, it will only create chaos here."

Luffy groaned, "That's just asking for a lot old man," he said with a smirk, "Belive me when I say this, but he really has a punchable face."

Sengoku just gave him a flat look.

"Okay, fine I will try to hold myself back. And besides he's way weaker than me." Luffy said after a while.

Just then the transponder snail on his table rang up. There were many transponder snails, and that one especially was there for emergencies. Sengoku didn't hesitate, and quickly received the call, "What is it?"

"Sir! It's Enies Lobby! It has been attacked!"

Sengoku was wide-eyed, expecting the worst, "By who? Kaido? Did they attack? How many ships?"

"Ugh… no? But they are pirates, a new group. The CP9 is engaging them as we speak."

Hearing that the fleet admiral sighed in relief, he almost wanted to punch the marine on the other side, "Are there any connection with the attack? Any hint on who the pirates might be ailed with?"

"From what we are able to gather, their ship resembles a lot like the ship infamous Kid pirates use. The same group that had tried to assassinate the mayor of Water Seven. Also, there are other factors that suggest them to be alleys of the Kid pirates. We don't have confirmation as the information was cut off due to Aqua Laguna. But from earlier reports, Vice Admiral Onigumo should be nearby."

The technology of the Transponder snail was still developing. Even though the Marines had the latest tech, due to Vegapunk. Weather conditions might sometimes block the signals from getting calls.

Sengoku nodded, "Okay, soldier. Keep me informed." With that Sengoku ended the call, while Luffy stood up.

"Well, I will take my leave," the Warlord said, turning on his heels as he walked towards the door. A tense expression on his face, but as he was already facing the door, Sengoku didn't see that. "Just don't forget the favor."

Sengoku nodded, "Of course." With that, Luffy walked out of the room.
