Chapter 16 - Dream

After bathing, Gu Chaun sat down beside Gu Xue and began explaining what he had been doing for the past few days.

He called it BSSFWLR v1.

Its full form was "Become Strong Super Fast With Limited Resources, Version 1."

The idea was simple but brutal — Gu Chaun cultivated in a half-conscious state, constantly pushing himself to the limit. He focused on three things: strengthening his body, improving his techniques, and fighting spirit beasts to gain real combat experience and collect beast cores to speed up his cultivation.

Gu Xue listened quietly. Even though Gu Chaun spoke casually and even smiled when saying he was glad to have saved her, guilt kept growing inside her. She knew what kind of extreme training he had gone through, and the more she heard, the more she felt she owed him. In her heart, she swore to repay everything, no matter how long it took.

The results of his training were astonishing.

Gu Chaun had created multiple new techniques inspired by Gu Xue's own attacks, and his cultivation had almost reached the late stage of Foundation Establishment. The progress seemed unreal, but it made sense — he had been cultivating almost constantly.

He was earning around ten thousand units of raw Qi every day, which refined into about five million over the past few days — enough to put him halfway through Core Formation.

It was an incredible achievement, but also a huge burden. Cultivating nonstop wasn't the real issue — the true strain came from training his physical body at the same time. That combination had pushed him far beyond exhaustion.

At this point, his body wouldn't move properly for at least four days.

Hearing all that made Gu Xue realize just how lazy she had been. She cultivated maybe two hours a day and spent the rest of her time sleeping. Compared to him, she wasn't even trying.

After they talked, Gu Xue told Gu Chaun to rest. He agreed without argument and quickly fell asleep.

Once she made sure he was asleep, Gu Xue went outside to buy groceries. She wanted to cook for him.

Cultivators didn't really need food since Qi could provide enough nourishment for the body, but someone training their physical body needed far more nutrients. Since Gu Chaun wasn't supposed to cultivate for a few days to let his mind and body rest, his body wouldn't be generating those nutrients on its own. So Gu Xue decided she would make up for it through food.

During the last few days, she had also recovered more fragments of her memory. Along with them came skills — including cooking. She was confident her cooking had improved a lot.

After buying what she needed, Gu Xue returned and started preparing food.

Time passed, and soon, Gu Chaun woke up. Gu Xue had just finished cooking. When she saw him getting up, she smiled brightly and asked,

"Would you like to eat the food I made?"

Gu Chaun nodded, washed his face, and sat at the dining table. The table was filled with dishes — some with meat, others with vegetables and fruits. Everything looked balanced and nourishing.

He ate quietly, finishing everything in front of him.

When he leaned back, satisfied, Gu Xue's smile widened. Seeing him enjoy her food made her strangely happy.

After the meal, the night had already settled in. Both of them decided to rest. Gu Xue fell asleep quickly, but Gu Chaun stayed awake, staring at the ceiling, thinking.

His extreme training was effective, but it couldn't be maintained for long. Doing it again would risk his life. He needed a new plan — something safer and more sustainable.

He thought about earning money. Beast cores and cultivation resources could accelerate his progress, but earning that kind of money was difficult. The only things he had worth selling were his techniques and the Ancient Cultivation Path Formula.

But he quickly shook his head.

His techniques were his foundation. Selling them meant handing over his weaknesses and secrets. Every technique had its flaws and counters — once leaked, enemies could easily prepare against him.

As for selling the cultivation path formula, that was out of the question. It was far too valuable. Maybe one day, if he truly had no other choice, he could use it. But not now.

With that decision made, he decided to figure something out tomorrow and tried to sleep.

Just as he was about to drift off, he felt something soft touch his chest. He looked down — it was Gu Xue's hand. Then she shifted slightly, placing one of her legs over his body.

They had shared a bed before, but never crossed any boundaries. Gu Chaun didn't mind it. He just stared quietly at her sleeping face.

He thought to himself, Are people on other planets always this comfortable with physical closeness?

In some civilizations, sexual interaction was mainly for reproduction, not love. Some planets even encouraged it to increase population faster. Earth had once faced the same issue, but humans solved it with technology — artificial reproduction through machines and synthetic DNA. Other civilizations might have had to adapt differently. Planet 446 could've been one of those.

Thinking that, Gu Chaun closed his eyes and fell asleep.

---

Gu Xue, however, was dreaming.

In the dream, a young man and woman were lying together. Both were beautiful — elegant and youthful — but something about the scene was wrong. The woman's body was covered in bruises and wounds, as if she had been assaulted brutally.

Before Gu Xue could react, the dream ended abruptly.

She woke up in shock, breathing heavily. Looking around, she realized it was already morning — Gu Chaun was still sleeping peacefully beside her.

"That… dream…" she whispered.

The images were still clear in her mind. The young man's face, the woman's body — everything felt too real.

"Was that… my memory?" she murmured to herself. But then she shook her head. "No, it can't be. That woman was far too beautiful… completely different from me."

She tried to brush it off as just a nightmare. Maybe it happened because she had been hugging Gu Chaun in her sleep. And the injuries she saw — maybe her mind connected it with the wounds she saw on Gu Chaun before.

Still, something about it felt off.

Gu Xue stood up and went to wash her face. But as she looked into the mirror, her expression slowly changed.

Her reflection… wasn't quite the same.

Her face — it now slightly resembled the girl from her dream.
