When he flipped the bedcover, he discerned blood stains, signifying that she was a virgin. Undoubtedly, he could tell she must have reckoned the encounter as a mistake.
The following morning, she woke from her nightmares and went back to her workplace. From that single hookup, guilt hadn't given her soul tranquility.
As soon as she approached the company's gate, Louis' Mercedes Benz lazily drove past her. Upon recognizing it, her heart virtually skipped a beat.
Nevertheless, Beverly feigned nonchalance; however, Diane dropped the car mirror and stared at her with a ridiculing grin.
Soon after, Louis opened the door for her and gave her a deliberate, huge embrace.
Thereafter, Diane walked past her in her golden stilettos, pink dress with an inverted V–cut on the front, uncovered breasts, and calculatedly swayed her hips sideways for her new boyfriend to see.
What a formidable day!
Before she could leave the scene, Louis called her back, "Hey, honey. I have something for you."
Upon hearing that, Diane walked back charismatically and beamed coquettishly, "And what could that be?"
As soon as Beverly walked past them, he deliberately wrapped his arms around her waist and grabbed her ass, saying, "I love you."
Before Diane could act, Louis dropped his lips on hers and plunged a deep kiss on her glossy lips.
Meanwhile, Beverly stepped back apoplectically and roared, "What the fuck are you trying to validate?"
Chuckling absurdly, Louis stared at her distastefully and thundered, "Nothing other than what we all see!" Momentarily, Diane's friends encircled them to delight in the melodramatic scene.
"Don't do this, Louis. Everyone is watching–" Diane tried to act nice.
"Just look at yourself. Your body is a disgust! Do you think I can fall for a beggar like you?" he interrupted Diane, then roared, "When you get home, try to see yourself in a mirror. If you have none, I can donate one."
Everyone cracked up at her derision. Actually, she dropped her eyes and scrutinized her looks. Indeed, Diane was a hot babe. For her, she was only in an oversized, dreary dress and dateless rubber shoes.
To foul her reputation further, he ordered, "Diane, turn around and show her what hotties look like." After advertising his goddess, he added, "You better take notes for your husband's sake!"
"I–" Beverly trailed off.
She was fighting a losing battle.
Just as her anticipation dimmed and her betrayed heart throbbed wretchedly, Louis encircled Diane's tight waist and stepped forward, "I regret dating you! Authentically, I feel disgusted by just looking at you!"
"How can you–?" Beverly tried to fight.
"Get out of my sight before I throw up on you!" he roared, boastfully.
Vulnerably, Beverly stepped aside and walked away speechlessly.
Taking into account his reputation, marrying a beggar like her only brought disgrace on the family's good name. What was the big deal about him dating someone of his preference anyway?
Before she could open her office—the only rescue cage, one of Diane's favorites, came running. "Oh, no, I can't believe it! How could Louis dump you?"
Meanwhile, Beverly turned to her and chuckled lugubriously. Her wobbling fingers couldn't even open the door.
Before she could fight for herself, someone else chimed in, "It's only two days, but she looks like a toothpick. Can she survive for a week?"
"She doesn't even deserve him. Didn't you see how Diane is a hot cake? I can't believe she always made him feel disgusted!" another friend remarked tauntingly.
Diane's ego suddenly sprung up at the unmistakable fame from her best friends.
Meanwhile, she pretended to be annoyed, "Hey, hey, shut up. I don't want to hear those sickening remarks about my friend! We all know that Beverly is his favorite."
Upon hearing her feigned kindness, Beverly chuckled inwardly and asked, "Are you done making fun of me?"
Thereafter, Diane turned to her friends and frowned. Regardless of acting nice, she had the guts to rebuke her, "What did she just say? Is she out of her mind?"
Her friends shook their heads and pointed at Beverly, arguing simultaneously, "Why are you wasting your kindness on a mannerless girl? Don't you see she deserves a smack?"
"Shut up, Caroline! She's my best friend," Diane insisted, stepping into Beverly's direction with a factitious grin.
"You should shut up first!" Beverly suddenly gained boldness, stepping into her direction, too, with an admonishing stare.
Meanwhile, Diane feigned composure and pleaded, "I was trying to protect you from my friends. You got it all wrong, Beverly."
Momentarily, Beverly ignored her clemency and clenched her fists, "Do I seem like I care about your empathy? I know you better, Diane."
After swallowing her dry throat, she added, "Besides, how does it feel to be his concubine? You can boast as much as you want, but he'll never love you!"
Thereafter, Diane chuckled sarcastically and asked, "Do you think I lured him? When you dumped him, he found a better place. Doesn't he seem happier with me now?"
After a short pause, she added, "And by the way, he told me how you valued your frothy virginity more than him. All those years and you haven't even fucked him?! Can you imagine how many times we've fucked so far?"
"That's none of my business–" Beverly tried to swallow her grievous words, but she interjected.
"Wait! I'm not yet done. Lastly, if you can't satisfy your man, don't criticize me for helping you out. And if you still care about your dignity, we'll gratify him on your behalf."
