(VALENTINO'S POV)
Pain.
That's the first thing I feel as I start to regain consciousness.
My head throbs like it's been split in two, my vision's fractured into twos and threes, everything a blur of color and light. When I try to move, every part of my body protests.
It takes time for my senses to sharpen. Slowly… painfully… I start taking in the room. Glass furniture, modern paintings lining the walls, a white leather sofa sitting across from me. My eyes drop lower and I realize the real problem.
I'm strapped to a chair.
My hands and legs are tied with ropes, and worse…
I'm gagged.
I tug against the ropes, but my arms don't obey, my head's still swimming. Dizziness spins everything sideways, a nauseating tilt that makes my stomach lurch.
That's when I hear the sound of footsteps approaching.
I lift my head just in time to see him.
Raffaele.
He casually walks into the room then moves toward the mini bar with a smug grin on his face.
