(KRYSTAL'S POV)
The night feels colder than usual. Maybe it's the wind pushing through the gaps between buildings, or maybe it's just my nerves chewing at the inside of my stomach. Either way I keep my head down as I walk, the hood of my hoodie pulled far enough to shadow half my face. My boots crunch on bits of loose gravel scattered along the sidewalk, each step echoing louder than I want it to in this empty street.
I reach the corner, stop, and check my phone.
8:30 PM.
Right on time and in the exact place he told me to meet him.
I tuck the phone back into my pocket and keep my eyes forward, pretending I'm just another girl out for a harmless walk—though no one in their right mind would choose this street at this hour unless they had a damn death wish or a reason.
I definitely have a reason.
