"I used my shadow ability to control a Reigai puppet, snuck deep into the shadows, and found the Quincy's nest. The Wandenreich, hidden in the shadow space."
"According to my investigation, there's a prophecy in the Wandenreich. The Quincy King, Yhwach, will regain his heartbeat in 900 years, his mind in 90 years, his power in 9 years, and the world in 9 days."
"Yhwach is just sleeping. He isn't completely dead!"
Sora selectively revealed some information to Yamamoto.
He was basically certain now. The previous Quincy war, and the recent Sternritter selection, were all meant to drain the Quincy.
It was to return their power to Yhwach and speed up his revival.
Yhwach had already seen his own future a thousand years ago.
After he led the Quincy to attack the Soul Society, he was defeated by Yamamoto and fell asleep.
After that: 900 years to regain his heart, 90 years his mind, 9 years his power, 9 days the world.
All his plans before he went to sleep were following this script.
But Sora had already made many huge changes to this world. The current path was completely different.
In the original timeline, the second Quincy extermination war didn't happen.
And the original extermination war didn't happen at the right time, either. It happened many years too early.
Even though Yhwach was asleep, he sensed something was wrong with how fast his power was returning.
He forced himself to wake up for a moment and had Haschwalth help him get his power back.
Sora could no longer accurately predict when Yhwach would revive.
He had stopped the Elite Guard's plan to help Yhwach one time, but they wouldn't just give up.
The Elite Guard wasn't just Haschwalth and Gerard. He and Sōken Ishida's group might not be able to handle their next move.
Sooner or later, the Elite Guard would target the Quincy again to help Yhwach.
Because of this, Sora decided to just tell Yamamoto the truth: Yhwach wasn't really dead.
"Yhwach... actually built a Wandenreich in the shadows of the Seireitei."
Yamamoto remembered burning Yhwach to ashes. Now, it seemed there was more to the story.
"That prophecy..." Yamamoto frowned. "It seems that villain Yhwach hasn't given up. He plans to rule the world after he revives!"
"And he's right here, under the Seireitei's shadow. If we ignore him, he'll be a huge threat later," Sora nodded. "We need to strike first, while he's not expecting it!"
Yhwach's goal is to destroy the pact of the three realms and build a new world.
And in his new world, there's no place for Shinigami. It's a natural conflict. There is no room for compromise.
"Can you bring others into the Wandenreich?" Yamamoto asked.
"If I use my shadow ability... the stronger the Spiritual Pressure of the person, the heavier the burden on me. So I can't take a large Shinigami army in there."
Sora shook his head. "But I got a key that opens the path. I just... don't have permission to open the passage completely."
"But since we have the key, I'm sure if we give the Shinigami Research and Development Institute some time, they can crack the permissions."
The Wandenreich is a closed system. It has major limits on people coming and going.
The Sun Gate Key Sora got can only take a few people in and out of the Wandenreich.
To open the Sun Gate completely, he needs Haschwalth's authorization.
But this isn't a problem for the SRDI. Kisuke Urahara and Mayuri are both very good at this kind of cracking work.
"Good." Yamamoto nodded. "The Elite Guard and Sternritter you mentioned are strong and must be taken seriously."
"The Gotei 13 also needs time to prepare, to keep our casualties as low as possible."
"Based on the intel I've gathered, this recent Quincy war was also very likely started by Yhwach's Elite Guard."
Sora paused, then continued, "I guess it's related to Yhwach's revival. There's a rumor in the Sternritter that Yhwach can reclaim power from dead Quincy..."
"So... if we attack the Wandenreich, we have to consider the possibility that Yhwach will revive. And it's a high possibility."
If Shinigami and Quincy fight, there will be a lot of casualties. Yhwach will most likely revive during the war.
"It doesn't matter." Yamamoto's eyes flashed with a terrifying aura. "He's just a loser I've beaten before. I'll just kill him again."
...
A few days later, Sōken Ishida came to Liltotto's shop looking for Sora.
"Kurosaki, these disciples of yours are talented." Sōken Ishida glanced at Liltotto and the others.
He saw they were all practicing Blut Vene and had already made some progress.
"They work hard, too." Sora nodded lightly. "What's wrong?"
He and Sōken Ishida weren't close friends. If it wasn't important, Ishida wouldn't have come to find him.
"Haschwalth is making a new move." Sōken Ishida's expression darkened.
"It seems he plans to use the same trick again: sending soldiers to the World of the Living."
"He did it last time, and not many of those soldiers made it back."
After what happened with the Sternritter selection, Sōken Ishida could guess that the last batch of soldiers was sent to die on purpose.
The fact that those soldiers suddenly fought with Shinigami was probably Haschwalth's doing.
"So what do you plan to do?" Sora's expression twitched. This was actually good news for the Shinigami.
The Wandenreich wasn't as strong now as it would be later. But many of the Shinigami captains were also younger, and hadn't reached their full power.
If they could split the Quincy, the Shinigami side would take fewer losses.
"Of course I can't let that happen again!" Sōken Ishida was furious. "How is that any different from sending them to their deaths?"
"Kurosaki, I need your help..." Sōken Ishida pleaded.
"The Elite Guard isn't just Haschwalth and Gerard, right? Can we really fight Haschwalth with just us?"
"The only reason he hasn't attacked the soldiers himself is because he still wants to keep up appearances."
Sora wasn't optimistic about Ishida's plan. And from the Shinigami's point of view, he preferred to let the Quincy be split.
"I know..." Sōken Ishida looked troubled. He couldn't just sit by and watch so many soldiers be sent to die. "But I can't do nothing."
"We can think about this differently," Sora said with a smile.
"If you lead the soldiers to blend in with humans, and don't gather in Quincy villages, the Shinigami won't send an army to wipe you out, right?"
