After the shadow merged with the Shinigami Reigai, the shadow's power had materialized as his Zanpakutō. If he could gather more of the Soul King's Shadow, his abilities would likely become even stronger.
He looked at the mass of threads still contracting and expanding in the air. The blue liquid on it had completely disappeared. The mass turned pure black again, then slowly dispersed, returning to a shadow.
Sora sensed a huge change happening in his inner world. With a thought, the scenery in his room blurred, twisted, and stretched. Then, it was as if he were falling into an endless abyss, everything before his eyes an endless darkness.
A few breaths later, he saw light again—it was from the bright, full moon hanging in the sky. Sora stood in the black desert. The white tower in the distance was unchanged. But on the other side of the desert, there seemed to be a blue light glowing.
His body melted into a shadow and moved at high speed towards the light. The sand in this area was no longer pure black; it was covered in blue threads, like glowing blue vines rooted in the ground. The farther he went, the denser the blue threads became.
All the threads on the sand extended in the same direction—towards a giant cocoon made of blue threads. The cocoon was about two people high and emitted a faint blue glow.
Sora approached and found that the cocoon was actually translucent and not sealed. He could see through the threads to the inside. Faintly, he could make out a young girl wrapped within. He moved closer to observe. The girl inside had wavy orange hair.
When Sora saw her face, he was slightly taken aback. He was reminded of that memorable Quincy—Tsukisaki Kurosaki! The girl in the cocoon looked exactly like her. But he quickly understood. What was gestating in the cocoon was his Quincy power. This orange-haired girl was its materialization.
"A bit similar to the relationship between Old Man Zangetsu and Yhwach...?" he thought, recalling Ichigo's inner world. "After being processed by the 'Bloodline Extractor,' is my Quincy power still related to Yhwach?"
He had half-expected to find an "Old Man Zangetsu" in his inner world. Ichigo's Quincy power came from his mother, but its source was still Yhwach, which was why it materialized as a younger version of him. But Sora's Quincy power had taken the form of Tsukisaki Kurosaki. This was a situation he was happy to see. If the system had helped him sever the connection to Yhwach, then he had nothing to worry about in the future.
"It should need some time to incubate," Sora judged after inspecting the cocoon.
"Kagehime," he called out.
"I'm here," she said, half of her head emerging from his shadow.
"Has all this new stuff in the inner world affected you?" Sora asked.
"Of course it has! It's much more crowded in here now!" Kagehime said indignantly.
"This desert is so big, it can't be that bad..." Sora scratched his cheek. "That's not what I was asking..."
"Then no, it hasn't," she said.
Sora nodded. It seemed the Quincy power had not yet affected his Shinigami power. With a thought, his consciousness returned to the real world. He glanced at his basic panel, and a new line of information had appeared:
[Quincy Power (Incubating)]
He looked at the intact floor. This time, the changes in his inner world hadn't caused any great disturbance in reality. "I need to test if the other parts of the Soul King's Shadow have any effect on me, but that will require collecting the fragments..." he thought.
It was already late at night, only an hour or two until dawn. Sora had intended to rest, but something happening in the courtyard changed his mind.
He went into the yard. A figure there immediately froze in place. But from Sora's perspective, the yard was empty. He remained outwardly calm and slowly walked towards the kitchen.
Aizen Sōsuke, seeing the professor walk into the kitchen, let out a sigh of relief. He thought his secret outing had been discovered. He quickly left the courtyard and returned to his room.
A moment later, Sora came out of the kitchen with a bowl of noodles and sat on the veranda to eat. He hadn't seen Aizen just now, but his shadow had. Since the battle in the back mountain, he had been under Kyōka Suigetsu's complete hypnosis. But his shadow vision was beyond the five senses and was not affected by the hypnosis.
For the safety of the dojo, Sora had placed some shadow monitoring points in the shadows of the courtyard walls. It was through these that he had observed Aizen going out for a long time. Aizen had even used Kyōka Suigetsu's ability, which made Sora curious.
"Where would he go so late at night?" Sora thought, looking in the direction Aizen had returned from. It was the direction of the Seireitei.
