Aizen Sōsuke was under a great deal of pressure. The two enemies before him both had the strength of a seated officer. To defeat them, he would have to use his Shikai.
But he didn't want to easily reveal that he had already achieved it, especially before Shinji and the others. It would draw too much attention.
He quickly assessed the situation. The professor had taken out one enemy right away, but his spiritual aura seemed much weaker now. He had probably used a technique with a massive cost and couldn't provide support. Yoruichi was fully occupied with her own opponent, so it was obvious she couldn't come to their aid either.
His own situation was even worse. Shinji, Kana, and Uemon were too inexperienced to fight seated-officer level opponents and could only serve to distract them. The two enemies' abilities were also very tricky.

"Wha... what happened?" Shinji said in astonishment. Kana and Uemon were also extremely shocked. —The one lying on the ground was the Chain-Blade Man!

The Hive Man, realizing he shouldn't have ignored the boy, roared in anger. "Die!" A black swarm of mosquitoes rushed towards Aizen, but halfway there, they turned back and landed on the downed Chain-Blade Man, sucking his Spiritual Pressure.
"Idiot... stop it!" the Chain-Blade Man stared at his comrade in fury, but the other didn't notice and detonated the bombs again. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM—
After the dust cleared, the Hive Man was horrified to find that he had once again bombed his own ally! The Chain-Blade Man's body had been blown into several pieces.
In the moment the Hive Man was stunned, Kana, Shinji, and Uemon used Shunpo to appear at his side.
"Shungeki!" X3
Three blades simultaneously pierced the Hive Man's throat and chest. His head flew into the air, an expression of disbelief frozen on his face.
He couldn't understand how they, empowered by the mighty Bakkōtō, could possibly lose to a bunch of brats who weren't even official Shinigami.
Uemon said in shock, "Sōsuke is so strong... he's already achieved Shikai without even going to the academy..."
"That's an amazing ability!" Kana said with wonder.
"Hah, you've really done it, Sōsuke!" Shinji pouted. "If it weren't for this accident, you probably would have kept us in the dark. To have achieved Shikai so quietly!"
He had thought Aizen was just hiding that he had stabilized his inner world, but he had never expected the guy to have secretly learned Shikai! What terrifying talent. This guy had the shortest training time, yet his strength had already surpassed those of them from the first batch.
Aizen said modestly, "I was just lucky. My Zanpakutō is very easy to talk to. The professor also said that the speed of achieving Shikai depends a lot on the personality of one's blade."
Shinji rolled his eyes. "That's only after you've stabilized your inner world, something you did a long time ago, didn't you!" He paused, then said seriously, "Anyway, thank you, Sōsuke."
