Chapter 1: Innate Soul Power, Rank One!

(A New Beginning — Please Add to Your Favorites!)

"Innate soul power... Rank One."

"Tsk."

A faint click of the tongue echoed through the room, carrying undisguised disappointment. Yet it failed to draw even the slightest response from Huo Yuhao. At this moment, his gaze remained fixed on the nearby window, expression dazed and distant.

The coarse linen clothes hanging loosely on his thin frame made him look even frailer. The colorful glass panes reflected a dim light that could not hide his pale face, and within his deep blue eyes shimmered an unfathomable depth far beyond his six years. After a brief moment of blankness, a faint smile curved his lips.

"A mutated martial soul, and only Rank One innate soul power... How can this kid still smile?"

"Heh, better than having no soul power at all, isn't it?"

"Well, for the child of a servant, just having soul power at all is already a blessing from the Duke himself."

As the voices of mockery and disdain rippled through the crowd, faint strands of invisible energy began to seep from their bodies, threading toward Huo Yuhao. Those wisps of energy quietly merged into the space between his brows, condensing into a small gray sphere of light within the depths of his spiritual sea — the Sin of Pride.

That dull, lifeless gray hue began to change, as if layers of dust were being gently washed away, revealing beneath it a deep, luminous dark blue.

The Origin of Pride was awakening once again.

Is this... what came back with me from my rebirth?

The image of that final moment — when he and Tang San perished together amid the catastrophe of the Divine Realm — flashed through his mind. A faint light flickered in his eyes . Carefully sensing the flow of power, he realized that most of this "Pride" did not come from those who had bullied him and his mother over the past six years. Instead, it was born from the emotions of those who merely stood by and watched.

As the direct descendant of the current White Tiger Duke, awakening the White Tiger martial soul was a source of immense honor. If he possessed the Evil-Eyed White Tiger, even as an illegitimate son, Huo Yuhao's status in the Duke's Mansion would have been elevated overnight.

Thus, today's Martial Soul Awakening Ceremony was being watched with great interest. Those who had once bullied Huo Yun'er and her son, as well as those who merely observed from the shadows, all awaited the outcome.

If Huo Yuhao truly awakened the Evil-Eyed White Tiger martial soul, the former would have to rush to apologize immediately, while the latter could take the opportunity to curry favor . After all, even among servants of the Duke's Mansion, ranks existed. Those who merely swept courtyards could never compare to those who attended the Duke's concubines directly — the difference was heaven and earth.

However, the boy before them had neither inherited the Duke's martial soul nor shown any remarkable talent. The result utterly dashed the hopes of the bystanders. Those who had previously wavered now had to make their stance clear, trying to win the favor of the Duchess by showing exaggerated contempt.

"May I leave now?"

Suppressing the turmoil in his chest, Huo Yuhao asked softly, his childlike voice crisp and steady.

Six years old — he was only six years old. Everything was just beginning.

"Ah... yes, you may."

The host of the ceremony finally came to his senses, nodding stiffly. He watched as Huo Yuhao turned away without hesitation, his expression calm, and walked through the slightly crowded doorway. A faint shiver ran down the host's spine.

He couldn't explain why, but at the exact moment Huo Yuhao's soul power was tested, a wave of indescribable dread had surged through him.

And afterward... why did that child's eyes seem different somehow?

He shook his head, dismissing the thought. It must be because his martial soul is an eye. Changes in appearance after awakening are perfectly normal in this world.

As he walked along the familiar path, Huo Yuhao could feel the Origin of Pride in his spiritual sea gradually darkening into pure blue. Beside it, six other gray orbs of equal size hovered quietly in the void.

From what he had just observed, whenever someone near him felt Pride, a portion of that emotion would be absorbed into his body. However, it seemed that each person could only provide it once.

"I wonder if that 'once' means each person only works one time... or if it simply needs time to recover?"

Lost in thought, Huo Yuhao soon arrived at the side gate of the Duke's Mansion. Outside stretched a grove of lush green trees. He gently touched the White Tiger Dagger tucked into his chest and stepped out.

Today was his Martial Soul Awakening Day. His mother, Huo Yun'er, had insisted that this dagger would bring him good luck, so she made him carry it. Sadly, in his previous life, the dagger had never brought him any fortune at all.

Thinking of his rebirth, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but smile wryly.

Perhaps... this is what people call good luck?

He still remembered that in his past life, after learning he possessed soul power, he had run home excitedly. This time, since fate had given him another chance, he couldn't go back empty-handed.

He had only just left the gate when the faint sound of flowing water reached his ears — a nearby stream. Following the narrow path forward, Huo Yuhao's ears suddenly caught the sound of multiple footsteps approaching, messy and hurried.

He turned his head — and saw a golden-haired boy about his age walking in his direction, surrounded by several guards. The boy's attire was exquisite, his demeanor haughty. Even as the servants around him flattered him with smiles and compliments, his expression remained cold and proud. Invisible energy radiated from him — and streamed toward Huo Yuhao.

"Dai Huabin."

Huo Yuhao's brow furrowed slightly. He hadn't expected to run into him here.

Dai Huabin seemed to notice him as well. His brows knit faintly, and one of the younger attendants — barely older than Huo Yuhao — quickly leaned in to explain.

"Young Master, that's the one I told you about — the Duke's child by a servant woman. I heard his martial soul is an eye, and his innate soul power is only Rank One."

They weren't far apart, so Huo Yuhao heard every word clearly. His expression sank.

He had only awakened his martial soul moments ago. This boy had just returned with Dai Huabin from outside. So how could he possibly know about his martial soul and soul power already?

"Oh?"

Dai Huabin's eyes turned cold."In that case, since his martial soul isn't the Evil-Eyed White Tiger, I'll leave it to you. Make sure it's... handled cleanly."

The attendant's eyes gleamed with vicious delight. He shot Huo Yuhao a cruel grin and gestured sharply. The four guards hesitated, frowning slightly, but still moved forward.

Seeing the guards rush toward him, Huo Yuhao's expression shifted several times before he finally sighed softly.

"...Such a joyful day. I truly hadn't planned to shed blood."

The instant his words fell, a dark-blue light flared from his body. His gaze sharpened, filled with an overwhelming, regal arrogance — only for that aura to vanish again a heartbeat later, as if forcibly restrained.

In the next moment, to the shock of Dai Huabin and his lackey, Huo Yuhao's small frame exploded into motion with incredible speed, colliding head-on with the charging guards.

A single guard was the first to meet him. With a sharp kick, Huo Yuhao's foot struck the man's ribs — a crisp crack resounded. The man spat blood and flew backward, collapsing in agony as he clutched his chest and howled in pain.

The other three froze in disbelief, their minds echoing with a single thought:

Impossible!

Was this the strength of a six-year-old child!? What was that blue light just now!?

In the next instant, one of them saw a flash of white — the gleam of the White Tiger Dagger. The blade slashed diagonally across his chest, slicing through flesh. Blood sprayed through the air.

The man's body went limp. His knees gave out, and he crumpled to the ground without a sound.

In just a single exchange, two of the four guards had already lost the ability to fight.
