Chapter 102 - Chapter 101: Archaeologists' Plea, Spherical Stone Carvings

[Ding! Reward skill: Ice Immunity has been received! Current host skills: Ice Immunity, Poison Immunity!]

The system's voice sounded, and Victor immediately felt a new power surge through his body. He was certain Aokiji would be in for a surprise when he faced him again.

Victor was now in a large underground base, brought here by the little girl Neil and her mother Jiuxiang.

Everyone in this base shared the same hometown as Robin—the archaeological holy land of O'Hara.

They were hiding underground, continuing their archaeological work and keeping the spirit of O'Hara alive.

For Victor, this situation was straightforward, but for Robin, it held immense significance. She remained in shock after waking. Older scholars who had come from O'Hara in the early years saw Robin and recalled the destruction of their hometown. Tears streamed down their faces.

"Mr. Victor, the strength you've displayed astounds us. I beg you—protect us! Protect this island! Don't let the World Government destroy it like they destroyed O'Hara!"

Victor was still thinking about how to deal with Aokiji when Jiuxiang—the woman who had brought him here—suddenly knelt before him, her voice low and earnest.

Jiuxiang didn't look very old. She wore a scholar's outfit, simple but elegant, which couldn't hide her beauty. Her daughter, little Neil, was equally adorable.

Jiuxiang knelt, her face full of sadness and determination. She was willing to sacrifice her pride but refused to let this place be destroyed by the World Government.

"Big brother! Neil doesn't know much, but Neil's cooking is delicious. I'll be your little cook for life. Big brother, please protect this island…"

Little Neil knelt beside her mother, pleading together.

Hundreds of others in the base looked at Victor with desperate hope, ready to kneel as well. Even though the video Den Den Mushi had been destroyed by Victor's thunder, they had seen his overwhelming strength and believed only he could protect the island.

Robin silently watched Victor, hope glimmering in her beautiful eyes. She would never plead herself, but a faint expectation lingered in her heart. A man of strong justice like Victor… surely he would agree.

Victor had never experienced anything like this before. Hundreds of people kneeling, looking at him with pleading eyes—his mind went blank.

He first helped Jiuxiang and little Neil to their feet. They were unable to resist his strength, slowly rising but still looking at him expectantly.

Victor realized the World Government's primary target this time was him. Robin was secondary. Otherwise, they wouldn't have sent CP0 to abduct Aokiji. This meant the island was endangered because of him.

There was no avoiding involvement. Only Aokiji and a few CP0 members remained outside. Victor would face them regardless, whether he agreed to protect the island or not.

As he prepared to respond, the system spoke again:

[Ding! Select trigger!]

Choice 1: Agree to the archaeologists' request and promise to preserve the island of ruins. Reward: Obtain a clue to the location of a Devil Fruit.

Choice 2: Decline the archaeologists' request, stating you cannot protect the island. Reward: A historical text tablet.

Victor didn't dwell on the rewards. The choice was clear.

"Hey! Captain, why are you hesitating? Isn't it just about saving an island?"

Enel rubbed his earlobes and looked at little Neil, oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

Victor ignored Enel, gently ruffling Neil's head, and spoke loudly to the archaeologists, including Jiuxiang:

"I promise, I will protect you this time and do my best to save this island!"

The base erupted with joy. Most were untrained archaeologists; if discovered by the World Government, death would be their only fate. Now, a powerful protector stood before them.

Robin smiled at Victor with deep gratitude.

"Thank you, big brother! Neil will keep her promise!"

Little Neil beamed, then turned to Enel.

"Thank you, Uncle Long Ears too!"

"What?! I'm the uncle? I don't even have ears! I'm a god… the Thunder God, Enel!"

Enel bared his teeth, frustrated. He wanted to roast the girl with hundreds of millions of volts but couldn't bring himself to harm the cute little Neil.

Victor and Robin exchanged amused glances, enjoying Enel's flustered expression.

The system sounded again:

[Ding! Reward received: A clue to the location of a Devil Fruit.]

Clue: In the archaeological base, a spherical stone carving contains a Devil Fruit. Activation: Inject an electric current to shatter the carving.

Victor had never encountered such a method before and was intrigued.

The elders confirmed the spherical stone carving's existence and led Victor and Enel to its location.

Robin stayed in the lobby, chatting with Jiuxiang and other archaeologists about O'Hara.

Unnoticed, uninvited guests had already discovered the entrance to the underground base…
