Naval G-1 Base (now Naval Headquarters)
Five naval warships were undergoing final inspections before departure. Two naval veterans stood by the port, one of them snacking on rice crackers.
At the same time the Navy prepared to launch the operation against Daughter Island, three Navy branch bases in the New World had already been destroyed by the Whitebeard Pirates.
Because world conscription was incomplete and a new admiral had not yet been selected, the Navy had no choice but to send Buddha Sengoku, who had retired as Navy Marshal and now served as Chief Inspector, to stop further losses.
"Hey! Garp, you really aren't coming with me!?"
Chief Inspector Sengoku glanced at Navy Hero Garp with visible dissatisfaction. The old man had been grinning and relaxed all day since the end of the Battle of Marineford. Now, his hair and beard were completely white.
"No, no. Whitebeard won't wage war against the Navy again. It's useless to go. I advise you not to go either, hahahaha!"
Iron Fist Garp laughed while eating senbei. In truth, he didn't think the result of the last Marineford war was all that bad. He just didn't know if Victor could survive this Navy operation…
"Garp!!!"
As soon as Garp finished speaking, Sengoku flew into a rage. He grabbed Garp by the collar and scolded him angrily:
"It's your attitude that caused the Navy to fail in the war! Do you think the crimes committed by your grandson are minor?
You're a Navy Hero, yet your son is the world's worst criminal, and your grandson is a pirate with countless crimes! If you weren't a Navy Hero, you'd be held responsible for your entire family! Damn you, what's so funny!?"
Sengoku then snatched the remaining half bag of senbei from Garp's hand and swallowed it in one gulp. Poor Garp didn't have time to grab them back and pouted.
"Hey, Sengoku! You can curse me all you want, but what's the point of stealing my senbei?!"
"I don't care! If you don't want to be robbed next time, buy an extra bag!"
"Tsk! You old bastard!!"
Garp glared, but didn't plan to buy more—the Chief Inspector's salary was high enough as it was.
"Inspector Sengoku! Vice Admiral Garp! The operation has been temporarily canceled. According to intelligence, the Whitebeard Pirate squadrons sent to attack the Navy have all retreated. Something major has likely happened in the New World!"
A messenger marine reported.
"Is that so? Looks like Whitebeard is in trouble again! But it's time for my old bones to rest. I'm going back to feed the sheep. Come on, Garp, go buy me some senbei!"
"Tsk! You old bastard!! Hahahahaha!"
Garp cursed angrily, then laughed. His old friend finally felt a bit relieved after stepping down as Navy Admiral. Now the one with a headache would be Sakazuki…
Grand Line, Daughter Island Waters
Meanwhile, Enel was in a dire situation. He unleashed his thunder powers recklessly, beating the marines back but unsure where to go next.
But now, he couldn't be so presumptuous. A marine covered in magma approached, and to Enel's shock, this marine was incredibly powerful—especially in destructive capability.
If it had been just an ordinary magma fist, Enel would have needed over 30 million volts to block it—and he dared not skip it. He knew the consequences of being hit would be unimaginable.
Forced into defensive maneuvers, Enel could only redirect his lightning frantically. Once called a god on Sky Island, he now didn't even have the ability—or the opportunity—to fight back.
Although drained from his previous reckless thunder attacks, the navy's strength was undeniable. The New World was truly terrifying.
"You're Victor's partner, right? Also a user of thunder. Don't worry, today you'll all die under the banner of justice!"
Navy Admiral Akainu struck again and again, depleting Enel's strength. Even he was surprised by this enemy's power. Where had Victor found such a partner?
The man in front of him, with extremely long earlobes, was powerful, and his thunder abilities surpassed Victor's during Marineford. Even the five Vice Admirals present were no match. To prevent Enel from escaping, they had to attack slowly and exhaustively.
"What nonsense is this? Justice, reward… I just want the title of Thunder God!"
Akainu was speechless. The long-eared man clearly had a problem with his brain. If communication failed, killing him might be the only solution.
Akainu increased his attack frequency. Enel struggled more with each strike.
Meanwhile, three more top-tier naval warships were sunk by anti-aircraft artillery and bombardment from Enel. The five Vice Admirals led the remaining marines to land and storm the port defenses.
The fleet, originally ten top-level warships meant to launch the Demon-Slaying Order against Daughter Island, was now reduced to two—including the main ship, which had suffered massive damage during the Akainu-Enel battle. The Demon-Slaying Order was impossible. The navy was forced into a landing operation—the worst in history.
"I will never allow you hateful men to set foot on Daughter Island!"
At the harbor, Pirate Empress Boa Hancock single-handedly battled five Vice Admirals. Her deep blue eyes glowed with purple mist as she unleashed her Devil Fruit powers.
The Nine Sisters Pirates, including the Sandasonia sisters rescued by Victor, joined Hancock in defending the port.
Though extremely powerful, Hancock was stretched thin against five veteran Vice Admirals—especially since one of them, Vice Admiral Flying Squirrel, was particularly brutal due to their past with Hancock.
Library! Click! Boom!
Suddenly, a burst of thunder erupted near the sea flank. The sturdy Thunder Dragon tore through the Ward Pirates mercilessly.
Victor had triggered the lightning seeds implanted in the Ward Pirates, unleashing thunder nearly like a tribulation. While it couldn't kill Bondi Ward, it was enough to temporarily trap him.
However, Victor paid a price. A Momo-level bullet hit him. Though unharmed, he looked a bit embarrassed.
"Hancock! Who did this? I'm going to kill him!!!"
"Here! It must be him, Vice Admiral Flying Squirrel!!"
