Chapter 30 - The Solaria Unpaid Model

Ayla's POV

"Get it together, Ayla," I whispered the moment I stepped through the glass doors. "Elena doesn't even remember you, so you can totally pretend not to know her. Both of you can just be strangers here… yeah, totally strangers."

Even though I kept telling myself that, my mind refused to comply. My heart still jumped at the thought of her, like my body remembered things I had already decided to forget. To be frank, those deadly eyes of hers are not easy to forget. They are enough to haunt someone.

"Let's just treat her like an invisible object," I muttered to myself.

I took a deep breath, squared my shoulders, and I didn't forget to dust imaginary dust away from my weapon blazer like Mira called it. I strutted forward. The click of my heels echoed behind me like backup dancers hyping me up.

Everything was fine.

Except why was everyone staring?
