Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3. THE TRUE EVIL OF HUMANITY (3)

No matter how much he tried to ignore it, the blue window still popped up before Sa Yoon's eyes.

Outside that translucent frame, a swarm of monstrous beasts was rampaging—roaring, tearing through the survivors. Sa Yoon's house, too close to the gate that had exploded, stood no chance.

The creatures smashed through windows and walls, killing anyone in sight. They devoured corpses with their razor-toothed maws. Even Sa Yoon's family could not escape that inhuman slaughter.

The screams of his parents still echoed in his mind.

He heard nothing but their cries.

When the sound of shattering glass rang out, his parents had turned their backs to shield him, whispering for him to stay silent. They fought the creatures that poured in—

and died.

Sa Yoon clenched his eyes shut.

All he could hear was the wet, crunching sound of something being eaten.

Sweat slicked his palms. He bit down on his lip until it bled, swallowing his sobs. He could not scream. He could not move.

He didn't know how long it had been when he finally opened his eyes. The house had gone silent. Carefully, he crawled out of the wardrobe.

His parents were gone.

Blood was everywhere.

The carnage told him everything he needed to know.

It was all too sudden—

the appearance of monsters,

the deaths of his parents.

The world had collapsed too fast for his mind to catch up. Sa Yoon stood frozen, staring blankly at the blood-soaked floor.

And then—

the system window appeared.

"Wh–what is this...?"

At first, he shut his eyes, thinking it was a hallucination. He rubbed them hard, but the blue window remained—shimmering, buzzing, emitting a faint ting, ting sound as if insisting on its existence.

Doubt turned into fear.

How could he not be afraid, when a game-like interface declared him the 'Villain of Humanity' and demanded he destroy the world?

Something inside him cracked.

Sa Yoon clamped his hands over his ears, pressing his face into a blood-stained pillow.

He didn't want to see.

He didn't want to hear.

Then came a knock on the door.

After a full day of trembling in silence, he finally dared to open it—hesitantly.

At first, he feared it was another monster, but a familiar voice called from outside.

It was his neighbor.

Dragging his exhausted body, Sa Yoon stumbled to the door, wiping tears from his cheeks.

The man standing there was pale, worn, and trembling. He, too, had survived a battle.

Though they weren't close, Sa Yoon burst into tears at the sight of a familiar face.

The man's expression softened. He wiped away Sa Yoon's tears and carefully asked about his parents.

Sa Yoon couldn't answer. He only cried. The man frowned deeply and pulled him into an embrace.

Seeing the shattered window and the blood-smeared floor, the man held Sa Yoon tighter, murmuring words of comfort.

After a moment's hesitation, he said there was a shelter nearby and offered to take Sa Yoon there. He extended his hand.

Sa Yoon nodded. He had no reason to refuse such kindness. After a brief, trembling cleanup, he followed the man toward safety.

Even at the shelter, the blue window still hovered before his eyes. He decided to ignore it.

Then—

Ting!

"The true Villain of Humanity is not swayed by sentimentality. Complete the final task. (b ≧∇≦)b"

[First Trial – The Beginning of the True Villain of Humanity]

Kill the man who helped you, and prove your cruelty.

Reward: 100 Karma

That damned system—

the one that called him the "true villain of humanity"—

had finally displayed a new window. A quest window.

It was unbelievable. Insane.

How could he possibly kill the man who had just saved him?

The window floated persistently in front of him, as if mocking his hesitation.

Sa Yoon glanced around the crowded shelter. People huddled together—wounded, starving, terrified.

He asked a few of them if they could see the blue screen.

None could.

They couldn't even hear the faint ting! that echoed in his ears.

Maybe… maybe he really was losing his mind.

That was what he wanted to believe—until the world began to change.

News spread that some people—the Chosen—had received a mysterious blue window granting them power. Videos, interviews, and voice recordings flooded the internet.

One headline read:

"Has anyone else seen a blue window floating in front of them?"

In the video, a nervous man in a helmet spoke to the camera.

Behind him, the war between monsters and humans raged on.

"We've been chosen as humanity's hope. If you see a system window, don't panic. Follow its instructions
