Fugaku also activated his ocular jutsu, summoning the thunder dragon once more to coordinate with his son.

Facing an attack of this magnitude, even Itachi completely lost the will to fight.
Susanoo was indeed powerful, but being struck by that enormous stone sphere from above meant certain death!
The reason Nagato hadn't used this technique before was partly because it consumed too much chakra—even Madara needed Susanoo to deploy it. Another reason was its overwhelming power that no one could withstand—a purely mutual destruction technique.
