Chapter 61 - Greatly Changed Impression

Late at night, silence enveloped Shrek Academy. After the day's examinations, apart from Tang San and the other three, not a single candidate had passed the first three tests.

And even so, this was already the year Shrek Academy had admitted the most students in many years.

As one of the Academy's teachers, Yun Chuan naturally had his own quarters—but they were unbelievably shabby. Cracked walls were one thing; snakes, bugs, rats, and cockroaches were everywhere. For someone like him, raised in the luxurious comfort of Spirit Hall, this was unbearable. An academy didn't need to be fancy, but at least it should be clean, shouldn't it?

So, after joining Shrek, Yun Chuan endured only one night before he couldn't take it anymore. The next day he went straight to Suotuo City to stay at a hotel—where he happened to run into Dai Mubai and Tang San, setting off a chain of events.

Now, sitting cross-legged on the bed in his teacher's quarters, Yun Chuan appeared to be meditating, but in truth, he was patiently waiting. By his estimate, he'd given Tang San quite the whipping earlier that day. The damage hadn't been severe, but the humiliation had been extreme. That drunken old man would never swallow such an insult—he was sure to come tonight to "settle things" for his son.

Yun Chuan was genuinely curious about this cheap father of his in this life. When he'd read the original story, he had always found the man's character design contradictory—viewed from the outside, many of his actions made no sense.

"…Tang… Chuan…"

A voice echoed faintly beside his ear.

"Finally came!"

Yun Chuan's heart stirred, though outwardly he only opened his eyes slowly, feigning confusion. He looked around and shouted, "Who's skulking in the shadows, playing ghost tricks?"

"…Come out."

The voice paused briefly before continuing.

At the same time, a faint, nearly imperceptible aura locked onto Yun Chuan's body.

"Hmph! Pretending to be mysterious—do you think I scare easily?"

Yun Chuan snorted coldly, then leapt up, diving straight through the window without hesitation. His spirit power surged to its peak as he rushed at high speed toward the direction that aura led him.

In just a short while, he had already left Shrek Academy's grounds and entered a forest outside. There, the faint aura vanished.

"Come out. I know you're here," Yun Chuan said in a deep voice. At the same time, he instantly completed Spirit Possession—Blue Silver Grass appeared in his hand, and seven spirit rings rose and fell around him, gleaming brilliantly. The three black ten-thousand-year rings in particular were astonishingly deep and profound!

A black figure slowly stepped out from behind a large tree. The man was entirely wrapped in black, even his head covered with a black hood. From appearance alone, only his tall, sturdy build could be seen.

"Hiding your head and showing your tail—clearly not a righteous person. What's your purpose in luring me here?" Yun Chuan said coldly, pretending not to know the man's identity.

The black-clad man did not answer directly; he merely said faintly, "I just saw your display of power today. It stirred my fighting spirit. I wish to spar with you—it's been a long time since I stretched my muscles."

As he spoke, the man raised his right hand. A dark light condensed in his palm, forming into a huge weapon—a massive hammer, almost identical in shape to Yun Chuan's Supreme Clear Sky Hammer.

At the same moment, nine spirit rings appeared on his body: two yellow, two purple, and five black.Unlike Yun Chuan's, these nine rings did not rhythmically rise and fall but instead hovered quietly around the man's figure, completely shrouding him in their glow.

Nine rings—already an awe-inspiring sight. But his final ring shone faintly red within the black.

Though both were ten-thousand-year rings, the difference could be enormous. A ring from a beast that had cultivated ten thousand years was not the same as one from ninety thousand years. The black-red hue meant this ring was at least of ninety-thousand-year quality.

Yet Yun Chuan knew that this spirit ring came from his own birth mother in this life—the hundred-thousand-year spirit beast turned human, Blue Silver Empress Ah Yin. It was, in truth, a hundred-thousand-year ring!

That it now appeared black tinged with red was because it had once exploded years ago, used for a temporary burst of strength. Though it had since re-formed, it had not yet fully recovered. In time, that nearly-red ring would regain its full crimson glow as a true hundred-thousand-year ring.

And the man before him—there was no doubt—was his own biological father, the Clear Sky Douluo, Tang Hao.

Yun Chuan studied his "cheap father" and couldn't help a trace of disdain. The man was utterly unkempt; even wrapped in a black robe, Yun Chuan could tell he rarely bathed. Even from afar, he could smell the sweat and other strange odors. Completely unhygienic.

"Titled Douluo…"

Though he looked down on him inwardly, Yun Chuan's face showed solemn caution. His gaze fixed on those nine spirit rings with deep wariness.Among higher-level spirit masters, the gaps were vast—above rank 60, even a single level could mean a real difference in strength.

When Tang Hao saw that the young man before him showed composure rather than panic at the sight of his nine spirit rings, he knew the youth's background was extraordinary—someone used to big scenes.

After all, if Spirit Saints were considered the higher class of spirit masters, then a Titled Douluo stood at the very summit. Most people would tremble in terror upon suddenly meeting one.Yet this young man, though surprised, remained calm and steady.

From this, Tang Hao became sure: this person had met many Titled Douluos before; otherwise, he couldn't act so unfazed. A trace of doubt and suspicion flickered in his heart.

"So it's a Titled Douluo before me," Yun Chuan said, quickly regaining composure. He asked cautiously, "May I know, Your Lordship, why you've called me out here at such a late hour?"

"I told you already," Tang Hao replied coolly. "I saw your display of might earlier and wished to spar a bit. Of course, you may think I'm bullying the weak. After all, didn't you say earlier that the strong may do as they please? I'm simply exercising that right."

As he spoke, Tang Hao slowly advanced. Though no overt pressure emanated from him, the sight of him holding the immense Clear Sky Hammer, drawing closer step by step, filled the air with an impending-storm tension—a crushing weight like dark clouds pressing down!

"As expected of a powerhouse," Yun Chuan muttered warily. His spirit rings gleamed as he prepared to act.

Suddenly, Tang Hao stopped. His cold voice cut through the air: "Since you're already here, you might as well come out. Whether it's one or three, what difference does it make?"

"Someone else?" Yun Chuan blinked, recalling the original plot—ah, so it was them.

Soon, two figures appeared.

One was Dean Flender. He had already entered Spirit Possession—massive wings spread from his back, his whole body covered in feathers. His golden-orange eyes had vertical pupils, and seven spirit rings pulsed rhythmically around him.

The other was Vice-Dean Zhao Wuji.He wasn't tall, his face rather plain, but his body was thick and solid. Though shorter than Yun Chuan, his build exuded raw strength. His broad shoulders were like city walls; his coat could barely contain the iron-forged muscles beneath. His sheer presence radiated pressure. Like Flender, seven spirit rings of the same colors pulsed around him.

"Greetings, Clear Sky Lord."Once they revealed themselves, both Flender and Zhao Wuji bowed respectfully toward the black-clad Tang Hao, showing no intent to fight.

Tang Hao regarded them coolly. "No need for courtesy. I'm here to make trouble. Owl Spirit, rank 78—not bad, worthy of being the main fighter of the former Golden Iron Triangle. This Shrek Academy belongs to you, doesn't it?"

Flender nodded. "Yes, Lord Hao. May I ask what offense Teacher Tang Chuan has given Your Lordship? Might you grant me a little face?"

Although he and Yun Chuan had initially clashed—he'd even been beaten up by him—and Yun Chuan's joining Shrek had been somewhat forced, Flender was a man of principle. Once someone joined the academy, they were family. Despite being stingy in money matters, he took good care of his own people. So even before a Titled Douluo, he gathered his courage to mediate.

Yun Chuan's view of Flender changed greatly at this; he thought, This guy may be miserly, but his character's solid. Good thing I didn't kill him back then.

Zhao Wuji said nothing, merely stood beside Flender—yet that alone showed he was ready to stand with his dean.

Tang Hao's face stayed indifferent. "Enough talk. Step aside, or I'll beat you both along with him. Tang Chuan, I'll give you a chance. I won't use any spirit abilities. If you can last the time it takes for one incense stick to burn against me, I'll leave immediately without another word. Otherwise, you'll do one thing for me."

When Tang Hao had secretly watched Yun Chuan trounce Tang San and the others earlier, he'd been furious—but also deeply impressed. To play the simple Blue Silver Grass to such a degree was astonishing. Even Tang Hao hadn't imagined such possibilities for that humble spirit. Clearly, this man was an expert on the Blue Silver Grass Martial Spirit.

If his own son—who shared that spirit—could receive this man's direct instruction, his cultivation would transform dramatically. Someday, perhaps, the Blue Silver Grass might no longer be weaker than the Clear Sky Hammer itself.

Thus, tonight, Tang Hao had come not only to "teach him a lesson," but mainly to have him guide his son in cultivating the Blue Silver Grass.
