Elena POV
One second, we were walled in the midst of the reservoir underground of the rest of the Blind Zone. The next, there was a doorway that hadn't existed before, with a man standing in it like he'd been invited.
"Quinn," he said.
Quinn turned slowly, and his usual expressionless face was filled with shock. "Ariston."
My chest went tight. I knew the voice before I saw him clearly, the one memory I had of hearing it over a phone, but unmistakable.
"You," I said.
"Me." He didn't look at me first. He looked at the thing gathering itself in the center of the room, and he stared at it the way I would read a familiar handwriting, and his jaw tightened. "You actually did it."
"I told you I would," Quinn said.
"You told me a lot of things twenty-five years ago too."
Tiffany's head snapped toward him. "You're supposed to be old history."
"I'm aware of my reputation." Ariston's eyes moved to her, and something passed over his face I couldn't name. "Sandra's daughter?"
