Goodra, as a pseudo-legendary Pokémon from the Kalos region, of course possesses exceptional qualities.

What Goodra excels at the most is not offense, but defense. Especially, its special defense.

As a pseudo-legendary, its total base stats are six hundred points, of which one hundred and fifty belong solely to special defense.

If a Pokémon specialized in special attacks faces Goodra, the battle becomes extremely difficult.

Moreover, being a pure Dragon-type Pokémon, its physical conditions are among the most outstanding of all Dragon-types.

Although at first glance it looks soft and gooey, in reality its bodily endurance far surpasses that of many other Pokémon.

The appearance of Goodra made Cain's Pokémon feel the threat. And at the same time... an emotion that boiled inside them: the eagerness to fight!

Especially Tyranitar and Blaziken, both were born fighters.

But Cain, instead of looking at them, focused his attention on his proud Weavile.

The reason he captured him in the beginning was his innate affinity with the Ice-type. In fact, he had originally prepared him to face Lance.

Although, over time, by a twist of fate, he ended up becoming his friend.

And furthermore, with his increasingly elevated position within the League, the fact that Weavile represented his identity inside Team Rocket made things somewhat delicate.

That's why he couldn't always send him out to battle.

But that didn't mean Cain didn't place great expectations on him.

Weavile was still, in his hands, the strongest Ice-type Pokémon.

Although Florges, with her Fairy-type, had a more significant advantage against Dragon-types, her specialty was special attacks. And against a Pokémon like Goodra, whose special defense was so overwhelming, it was more convenient to leave the battle to Weavile.

Pokémon: Weavile (Dark Blue)

Gender: Male

Level: 66

Type: Dark + Ice

Ability: Pressure

Held Item: Regice's Never-Melt Ice

Egg Moves: Bite, Ice Punch, Ice Shard, Icicle Crash

Basic Moves: Scratch, Leer, Taunt, Quick Attack, Feint Attack, Icy Wind, Fury Swipes, Agility, Metal Claw, Hone Claws, Beat Up, Screech, Slash, Embargo, Revenge, Assurance, Nasty Plot, Fling, Night Slash, Punishment

Learned Moves: Knock Off, Snatch, Low Kick, Laser Focus, Iron Tail

Combined Moves: Ice Claw (Ice Punch + Metal Claw) (449)

TM Moves: Protect, Hidden Power (Flying), Low Sweep, Dark Pulse, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Blizzard, Hail, Brick Break, Aerial Ace

Those were Weavile's stats at that moment. In the legendary Ho-Oh's space, his level had risen to 66.

Within Cain's team, his dark blue quality could be considered one of the most discreet. But for other trainers, a Pokémon like that would be a true trump card. And Cain had never stopped training him.

Weavile's mastery over the Ice-type had never disappointed him.

Facing a level 65 Goodra was not beyond his reach. The key point was that he had the type advantage.

Noticing Cain's fixed gaze on him, Weavile didn't change his expression. He simply made an elegant gesture with his claws, and out of nowhere a small snow crystal appeared.

It floated over his palm, as realistic as if it were a natural snowflake. Calmly, he stepped forward until he stood at the front.

Seeing Weavile take the lead against Goodra, both Tyranitar and Blaziken gradually let go of their desire to fight.

Cain had already decided Goodra's opponent, so they had no choice but to wait.

And as for whether Weavile would lose... in his eyes that was impossible. Never had a Pokémon chosen by Cain been defeated.

"Weell!" Weavile let out a low cry, and his gaze turned sharp as a blade, fixed on Goodra.

From the moment he appeared until he stood in front of him, only a few seconds had passed.

Goodra understood immediately: that Pokémon was his rival, and if he wanted to advance, he would have to defeat each one of them.

"Gooo-draaa!"

The fighting intent in Goodra intensified even more.

"Weavile, use Hone Claws," Cain ordered calmly.

At his words, Weavile's white claws rubbed against each other, producing a faint metallic sound.

Goodra, for his part, showed no intention of holding back.

He murmured softly toward the sky... and soon black clouds began to gather.

The dense clouds piled up like a dark mantle. And right after, a drizzle poured down from above.

Goodra's ability was Hydration, which under rainy weather was extremely advantageous.

With the Hydration ability, any status condition in his body would dissipate under the rain.

"But the weather isn't decided by you. Weavile, Hail!" Cain said.

He had taught him that move in Team Rocket, just before traveling to the archipelago of the legendary bird trio. And after so much training, he had mastered it perfectly.

"Weell!" Weavile raised his Ice-type energy to the maximum.

The rain falling from the sky began to crystallize, slowly turning into shards of ice.

After all, Weavile was an Ice-type Pokémon, while Goodra was not Water-type. In this weather dispute, Weavile ended up imposing himself.

The rain finally transformed into hail.

Goodra couldn't believe it: his own rain had been turned into the rival's tool. And on top of that, hail was the weather he endured the least.

But he couldn't do anything. The weather was already set, and under Weavile's control, not even using Rain Dance again would reverse it.

"Weavile, Icy Wind!" ordered Cain.

Weavile brought his palms together in front of him, and from his mouth came a frosty breath adorned with shards of frost.

The temperature had already dropped due to Hail's effect, and the effectiveness of Icy Wind increased.

Goodra shivered involuntarily, and small ice plates began to cover his body. His movement speed decreased.

Meanwhile, Weavile ran nimbly through the hail, taking advantage of his swiftness.

Goodra stared at him intently. Now he knew his rival mastered precisely the type he hated most: Ice.

The battle would be tough.

"Blizzard!" Cain ordered again.

Although Weavile wasn't a specialist in special attacks, it didn't matter. The main point was to hinder the opponent's mobility, and that was more than enough.

Following Cain's strategy, Weavile kept his distance, without getting too close.

Annoyed, Goodra gathered energy in his mouth and launched a violet orb: Dragon Pulse.

But Weavile dodged it with agility.

His speed and the pressure of the weather were starting to take effect: Goodra was moving worse and worse.

"That's enough. Weavile, Icicle Crash!" Cain sentenced.

With Goodra increasingly slower, it was the moment for the decisive attack.

Five ice stakes formed above his head. Between the blizzard and the hail, the air was saturated with frozen energy.

The stakes quickly materialized, sharp as blades, and descended directly against Goodra.

The dragon's eyes shone with fury. That fighting style, harassing from a distance, was irritating him deeply.

He clenched his fists, which ignited in flames.

Fire Punch!

Boom!

Boom!

Two of the stakes shattered under his blows.

But the other three descended close to his body, embedding themselves into the ground.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The three ice stakes formed something like a prison, completely restricting Goodra's movements.
