Then, Cain turned his gaze toward Delphox.

Delphox's data was very similar to Chesnaught's.

Both Pokémon were Elite level, and both had been abandoned by human trainers.

Those two were, so far, the most powerful Pokémon Cain had encountered in the Nebel Plateau.

Hearing Chesnaught's words, Cain slowly shook his head.

"Sorry, I need to keep moving forward toward the interior."

His voice appeared directly in Chesnaught and Delphox's minds.

Upon hearing him, their expressions changed, gradually turning fierce.

Cain sighed silently; it seemed he would have to face them no matter what.

However, to his surprise, the fierceness in their eyes slowly softened.

They looked at the Pokémon accompanying Cain and also at the ones around them, but did not unleash their fury.

With those actions, Cain understood their concern.

They feared that he would attack the other Pokémon in the area.

They were only two, while Cain had at least four Pokémon at his side. If two faced them, the other two would be enough to defeat the rest.

And besides... would a trainer only have four Pokémon?

Chesnaught and Delphox's logic was very clear.

"In the interior there are beings you must not mess with. If you enter, you may never come back out, human. I tell you this for your own good," said Chesnaught again.

A being he must not mess with?

Volcanion, perhaps?

Cain shook his head firmly again.

"Sorry, but I need to reach the bottom."

Chesnaught's eyes changed once more; he felt Cain knew something more.

Because inside the Nebel Plateau... it wasn't just "that" being.

At that moment, Delphox spoke: "Human, don't you humans like battles? Do you dare to fight us? If you manage to defeat the two of us, we will let you pass. But if you lose, you'll have to leave. As a human trainer, I suppose you won't refuse, right?"

Cain looked at Delphox, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

Using a method of provocation?

But that was just what suited him best.

"Fine. And how do you want to fight? One on one, or both together?" he asked.

Chesnaught and Delphox looked at each other and answered in unison: "Together!"

"Then I won't underestimate you. I have four Pokémon here, you pick the two you want to face," said Cain with absolute confidence.

If he couldn't even defeat two Pokémon abandoned long ago by their trainers, then he might as well go back home to making Pokéblocks.

Chesnaught and Delphox looked at each other again, arguing silently.

Cain's Pokémon, on the other hand, were eager to get into action.

No matter who was chosen, they all had full confidence in themselves.

In the end, Chesnaught and Delphox chose Tyranitar and Blaziken.

There was no other choice: both Honchkrow and Weavile emanated a terrifying pressure, an aura of menace that made them feel their brute power was even greater.

Tyranitar and Blaziken were also dangerous, but not at the same level as Honchkrow and Weavile.

Furthermore, due to typing, Honchkrow (Flying/Dark) and Weavile (Ice/Dark) were much more dangerous against them.

Delphox, being Fire/Psychic, was very vulnerable to Dark type.

Chesnaught, Grass/Fighting, suffered a quadruple weakness to Honchkrow's Flying type, and also a double weakness to Weavile's Ice type.

Seen this way, choosing Tyranitar and Blaziken was without a doubt a smart decision.

Honchkrow and Weavile showed no reaction to not being chosen, but Tyranitar and Blaziken were quite pleased.

"Tyran!"

"Blaazk!"

Tyranitar and Blaziken bumped fists, showing the great synchronization that existed between them.

A large fist against a smaller fist.

The battle of the four Pokémon began immediately.

Cain instantly activated telepathic communication to command the strategy.

The first to attack were Chesnaught and Delphox.

Both were fighting for their home, and didn't hesitate to unleash all their power.

The spikes on Chesnaught's back glowed with light, shooting out like projectiles.

Pin Missile!

Meanwhile, Delphox gently waved what looked like a burning branch or wand, imbuing the spikes with her psychic power.

What was once a luck-dependent move became an attack with precise direction.

From that very first exchange, their excellent coordination was evident.

The target of the Pin Missile was Tyranitar.

Tyranitar paid no attention to the attack, striding toward them in big steps.

He trusted that his partner would appear at just the right moment.

And so it was: Blaziken shot out from his back, propelling itself with Tyranitar's body, soaring into the air with a fist wrapped in flames that smashed into the spikes.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

With the reinforcement of psychic power, the spikes were much stronger. But even so, they were destroyed by Blaziken's blows.

Tyranitar kept running, his large body advancing at great speed.

Chesnaught and Delphox noticed his actions and their expressions changed: if a Pokémon with such enormous physical strength as Tyranitar got too close, neither of them could withstand him.

Especially Delphox, who suffered the type disadvantage against him.

But in their focus on Tyranitar, they didn't notice Blaziken.

After smashing the spikes, he remained right behind Tyranitar, hidden by his broad body.

Blaziken's speed was much greater than Tyranitar's, but he didn't overtake him.

Following Cain's orders, Blaziken began to execute a special stepping pattern while running, his body emanating a unique energy.

It was the technique he had perfected in Ho-Oh's space: executing the move Swords Dance while in motion.

That reduced his running speed a little, but avoided becoming an easy target by stopping to use Swords Dance.

A smile appeared on Tyranitar's face as rocks rose up around him.

Each one sharp-edged and ready to be launched.
