The ninth match: Kurama Yakumo vs. Kankuro.
"A sickly little girl?" Kankuro frowned as he looked at Yakumo standing opposite him.
She seemed so fragile that a gust of wind could blow her away.
Since her participation in the Chunin Exams, no one had ever seen Yakumo fight, and few knew her background.
On the surface, she didn't look like a skilled ninja at all.
She had a calm personality and had entered the Chunin Exam simply to experience the life of a ninja.
She watched silently, spoke very little, and had a low presence.
After the referee announced the start of the match, Kankuro, for some unknown reason, said casually, "You're Senju Itsuki's teammate. Since Itsuki takes better care of Temari, I'll let you go first."
This was his way of returning a favor.
If they spent more time together, Temari and Itsuki might become familiar with each other.
Kankuro was optimistic about Itsuki, his "future brother-in-law."
"Bah! What does it have to do with me?" Temari, watching from the stands, muttered angrily, her cheeks slightly red.
Gaara glanced at her, his eyes cold—but not directed at Temari.
Though Kankuro was a bit arrogant, many thought there was nothing wrong with his words.
After all, if he faced a weak girl like Yakumo too seriously, he would lose composure.
But those who knew Yakumo's abilities were puzzled.
Kankuro was like someone inviting his own doom—was he overestimating his life?
"Pfft..." Karin covered her mouth and laughed softly.
"He's really bold. He actually let Yakumo make the first move? I've never seen anyone more fearless!"
Itsuki smiled. "Even I wouldn't dare easily provoke Sister Yakumo. The outcome of this match is already determined."
"Ah? That sister, is she so powerful?" Naruto, standing nearby, stretched his neck to look at the arena.
No matter how he looked, he couldn't see what was so impressive about Yakumo.
On the field, Yakumo didn't hesitate.
She silently took out her brush and sketchpad and began painting.
Kankuro was confused. Was this her first move? He expected some attack, not… drawing.
But he had to maintain his cool façade.
Two minutes later, Kankuro didn't even have the chance to attack. He lay unconscious on the ground, snoring loudly.
"In this match, Kurama Yakumo wins!" Hayate announced immediately.
Those familiar with Yakumo's abilities weren't surprised.
When Kankuro was defenseless, waiting for her to cast the technique, he had already lost.
Even Gaara, despite Shukaku, might not have escaped Yakumo's illusion space.
"What's going on? How did the Sunagakure shinobi fall asleep so peacefully?"
"I don't understand. What exactly did Kurama Yakumo do?"
"It must be an illusion—painting to create a jutsu?"
Those unfamiliar with her abilities were confused, assuming Kankuro had simply been careless.
"No!" Neji rolled his eyes, horrified. "This isn't a simple illusion. Even a prepared Kankuro would fall for it. The key is to prevent her from casting the spell at all!"
"What do you mean?" Rock Lee didn't understand.
Tenten, who had been observing closely, explained.
"That's manipulation of the five senses. The Kurama clan's bloodline limit, in terms of illusion, even surpasses the Uchiha Sharingan."
"Yakumo can control the five senses, turn illusions into reality, and create a space where everything is under her control. Within that space, she is the God of Creation."
Her words shocked Neji and Lee.
Ordinary illusions just confuse the mind, but Yakumo's technique could affect reality itself.
Even realizing you were in an illusion wouldn't necessarily help you escape.
The only way to avoid it was to prevent her from performing the jutsu.
On the field, Yakumo had already won the match and began to leave. Itsuki came down to wake Kankuro.
Out of respect, Kankuro had given Yakumo the opportunity to perform her technique.
Even if he had been serious from the start, he wouldn't have stood a chance.
The last match remained: Sakura vs. Shikamaru. There was no need to draw lots.
"I never thought I'd be the last to appear, and my opponent is a woman. How troublesome…" Shikamaru yawned lazily.
Compared to other opponents, fighting Sakura wasn't too exciting.
"Sakura, I know you find it troublesome. Why don't you just admit defeat? I can take the exam for you," Shikamaru joked.
Sakura was slightly worried. She knew who her opponent was but didn't have detailed info on the battle process. She knew the fight could be tricky.
Shikamaru's abilities were simple in concept, but his IQ of 250 made him unpredictable. A careless mistake could cost a victory.
"Ah! I'd like to give up on my own too," Shikamaru said helplessly. "But if I do, my mother will definitely scold me. Might even involve my father too."
"Forget it. I don't have the will to fight you. Let's just go through the motions. The outcome doesn't matter."
His lack of spirit drew boos from the audience.
He seemed like a minor character, but it proved that Konoha didn't manipulate the drawing lots.
Sakura's lips twitched. She didn't trust Shikamaru's words—if he fought casually, his intelligence alone could crush her.
"Both sides, get ready. The match begins now!" Referee Hayate announced.
But Shikamaru and Sakura looked like ordinary passersby. The fight didn't attract much attention.
Some ninjas from other villages had already started leaving.
Even Itsuki was distracted; the girls in the chat group were chatting instead of watching the match.
No one paid much attention to this final battle.
