Orochimaru recognized him immediately. He was lying on the ground, covered in blood, with piles of broken wood pressing down on him.
A massive crater had been smashed into the earth where he landed.
Even for Orochimaru, taking that head-on would have been devastating.
But Orochimaru was Orochimaru. He opened his mouth, and another brand-new body slithered out, leaving him unharmed once more.
Itsuki, however, could sense that Orochimaru's body-substitution technique consumed a huge amount of chakra.
The uncle snake's reserves dropped sharply.
"Don't get close to him carelessly. Even I can't withstand this strange power more than a few times. Itsuki is so young, yet his strength already rivals the Five Kage. Truly a one-of-a-kind talent."
"Compared to him, Sasuke is nothing. Wood Release is impressive, yes... but Itsuki doesn't have the Sharingan that I desire."
Orochimaru muttered, then bit his finger, drew a spell on his wrist, and pressed it to the ground.
"Let's test your limits! But after this, I can't linger here. Let's end this quickly!"
Summoning Jutsu!
With a thunderous bang, a massive purple snake with black markings erupted onto the battlefield.
It was so enormous that Orochimaru standing on its head looked no larger than an insect in its eye socket.
"It's… so big!!" Naruto shouted, covering his face with his hands.
The appearance of the giant snake caused a violent shockwave, nearly blowing him off his feet.
Luckily, after resting a while, his stamina had recovered a little.
Sasuke could also move again. Together, they carried Sakura and retreated further away.
"Damn it! Who the hell is that guy…?" Sasuke gritted his teeth.
Each clash between Orochimaru and Itsuki kept reshaping his understanding of what "power" really was.
Could a human truly wield strength like this?
For the first time, Sasuke realized just how short-sighted he had been.
A burning urge to become stronger flared in his chest.
"Now's not the time to think about that!" Naruto snapped. "That guy summoned such a big snake—what about Itsuki? We have to save him!"
"Are you delusional?" Sasuke shot him a glare. "With our strength, we can't even get close. This battle is up to Itsuki alone. And from the look of it, he doesn't need our help."
"Damn it!" Naruto bit his lip, frustrated at his own weakness.
Itsuki had stepped into danger for his sake, and all he could do was watch.
That same helplessness carved deep into Naruto's heart, leaving behind a desperate hunger to grow stronger.
"Ten Thousand Snakes? You really think highly of me," Itsuki said calmly, making hand seals.
The moment he saw Orochimaru summon, he prepared himself. Chakra surged wildly within him.
Suddenly, the ground split open, and a colossal wooden giant rose up.
Wood Release: Wooden Golem Jutsu!
This wooden man was far larger than the one he had created against Danzo.
"Orochimaru!!"
The summoned snake, Manda, glared at the towering wooden man and hissed angrily.
"You bastard! You think your life is too long? If you want to fight the First Hokage, don't drag me into it! If you can resurrect him, then control him yourself!"
Of course, Manda thought the one summoning the wooden giant was Hashirama brought back from the dead. It was a natural assumption.
But this time, it was outdated.
"Look closer, Manda," Orochimaru chuckled. "It's Wood Release, yes, but this scale doesn't match the First Hokage."
Manda narrowed his eyes and realized the mistake.
Still, anyone who could wield Wood Release at this level wasn't an opponent to take lightly.
"Go, Manda! The noise is too much. We don't have long!" Orochimaru ordered.
"Tch… damn you, Orochimaru!" Manda cursed but lunged forward anyway. "After this, you'd better prepare two hundred sacrifices for me, or I won't forgive you!"
Orochimaru stayed silent, neither agreeing nor denying.
Itsuki wasn't about to hold back.
He directed the wooden giant forward, swinging a massive fist straight into the snake's body.
BOOM!
The collision shook the land.
Shockwaves exploded outward, flattening trees and turning the surrounding area into a barren wasteland.
Within hundreds of meters, nothing remained standing.
"Damn it! What the hell is happening?"
"This is insane! This isn't the Chunin Exam at all—Konoha owes us an explanation!"
"Are the Five Kage fighting here? Run or we'll die!"
The nearby spectators scattered, terrified out of their minds.
Was this really Konoha's Chunin Exam? How the fuck had it turned into a battlefield of monsters?
Even from miles away, people felt the tremors in the earth and saw towering silhouettes crashing into each other.
The gale-force winds tore through the forest like a typhoon.
Team 7, with Sakura unconscious, crouched behind a boulder for cover.
Even so, flying stones and splinters battered them.
Naruto used his body to shield Sakura, while Sasuke was consumed by jealousy, his jaw clenched so hard his teeth nearly cracked.
Why? Why?!
They had all graduated together. Itsuki had been a nobody in class. How had he become this strong?
No matter how hard Sasuke worked, he doubted he could ever reach that level.
What Uchiha? What Sharingan? All his pride was shattered in that instant.
Sakura remained unconscious, but even her body trembled as if sensing the chaos.
"I feel like I'm just a small boat in a raging storm… it's terrifying! My soul feels like it's about to leave my body!"
[Tenten: Is this Wood Release? Itsuki's strength is way scarier than I imagined. Even if we maxed our group's levels, we couldn't take one hit from him.]
[Ino Yamanaka: Itsuki is so handsome! From today on, he's my idol. I'll only pursue Itsuki for the rest of my life!]
