Chapter 50 - Chapter 050: The Third Hokage’s Generosity, All for Itsuki

"Is this… the residence of the Senju clan?" Itsuki muttered with a thoughtful expression.

It was impossible for the entire Senju clan to have lived here.

When Konoha was first established, the Senju clan had been massive—one of the two largest clans in the ninja world, with countless members.

Besides, both the First and Second Hokage had come from the Senju, so their compound would have been far grander than this.

That meant this house was most likely the private residence of Hashirama or Tobirama, later sold off by Tsunade.

"Is this because I awakened Wood Release? Did the Third Hokage give me this house because of that?"

Itsuki still didn't know his own origins, though he had inherited Wood Release from the Senju bloodline.

Whether this was part of the world's original setting or something altered by the [Fabrication System] remained unknown.

"It's a pity this is second-hand… I'll just refurbish it when I get time. With my Wood Release and Earth Release, it won't be hard."

He didn't dwell on it further and continued exploring the mansion.

On the left side of the hall was a spacious living room furnished with comfortable sofas and low tables.

A huge floor-to-ceiling window opened out onto the garden.

But like the front yard, the garden was neglected—just weeds everywhere.

So when the Third said all the furniture was new, it really only meant furniture.

Move in directly? Hah, sure—if you ignore the yard falling apart.

Heading upstairs, Itsuki found the second floor filled with guest rooms and a large conference room—nothing noteworthy.

On the third floor sat the master bedroom and two secondary rooms.

The master bedroom, at the end of the corridor, was warmly decorated, its walls painted light blue for a peaceful feel.

A large bed dominated the room, while a desk sat in the corner with a lamp, papers, and pens.

On it lay a scroll sealed with a string of tadpole-like runes, labeled with a single large character: "Money."

Itsuki's eyes widened.

"Is this… pocket money?"

He quickly unlocked the simple seal—basic stuff even academy students learned.

With a pop, dozens of thick stacks of banknotes materialized on the desk.

After carefully counting, he found five million ryō inside!

—One stack of 10,000 ryō bills

—Two stacks of 5,000 ryō bills

—Five stacks of 2,000 ryō bills

—Ten stacks of 1,000 ryō bills

—Twenty stacks of 500 ryō bills

Each stack had a hundred notes. That meant one million ryō in each denomination, totaling five million ryō.

Itsuki's eyes practically turned into ¥n¥.

"Hmph, don't think money can corrupt my heart! I won't be bribed… At worst, once you're gone, I'll take care of your daughter-in-law and improve your granddaughter's bloodline!"

He sniffled, wiping at the corners of his eyes before continuing.

Beside the desk was a tall bookshelf, filled with books and scrolls.

Itsuki skimmed through them—histories of the ninja world, accounts of shinobi development, travel journals, biographies… Even Jiraiya's complete set of Make-Out Paradise and Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi.

The scrolls were packed with detailed explanations of basic ninjutsu, tactics, formations, barrier techniques, and even studies on summoning beasts and analyses of classic missions.

None of them contained advanced or forbidden skills, but the breadth of foundational knowledge was staggering.

With this alone, even someone talentless could be trained into an excellent strategist or civil official.

"What a generous gift!" Itsuki let out a long breath.

Honestly, compared to the knowledge here, the five million ryō was nothing.

Of course, if he had to choose… Itsuki would still grab the money first.

Knowledge builds ability, sure. But why chase power and ability? To earn money and influence! And he already had the cash in hand.

Itsuki admitted it—he was vulgar, and he valued immediate returns.

Still, the bookshelf showed him the Third Hokage's intentions.

The Hokage wanted to cultivate him as the leader of the new generation, perhaps even the fifth hokage of Konoha's future.

In the original story, Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't seem this bold.

But then again, he was once known as the "Professor of Ninjutsu" and "The God of Shinobi" in his prime. Even old and senile, a rotten ship still has nails left.

Itsuki's behavior so far had been flawless, exactly what the Hokage wanted to see.

With almost no one else fit to inherit the village's future, the Third choosing to bet everything on him made sense.

But Itsuki wasn't the type to overthink. He'd take things step by step. If protecting Konoha aligned with his goals, then fine.

The bedroom also had an empty wardrobe, a bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the lush mountains behind Konoha. The air was fresh, the scenery peaceful.

Swish!

A figure landed silently on the balcony, appearing with Body Flicker.

Itsuki tensed briefly before relaxing—he recognized the chakra.

Moments later, Tenzo appeared, removing his mask.

"I went to the hospital looking for you, but they said you were discharged. Then I went to your old place, but you weren't there either. The Hokage told me he gave you this house, and sure enough—here you are."

Tenzo looked around with amazement, his expression tinged with pride.

This was his disciple.

In just a short time, Itsuki had displayed astonishing talent.

Now, with the Hokage's recognition, Tenzo couldn't help but feel proud, like Jiraiya bragging about Minato.

"Teacher Tenzo!" Itsuki welcomed him warmly. "I wasn't injured, just exhausted. I felt uncomfortable staying in the hospital, so I came here instead. But… this house is way too big for just me. Why would the Hokage give me something like this?"

Tenzo clapped him on the shoulder. "Accept it without worry. There are things I can't tell you yet, but you'll understand in time."

He didn't elaborate further, quickly steering the conversation toward the earlier ambush.

Itsuki, who had learned everything from Tenzo, didn't hide anything. He recounted all the details.

"I thought we'd concealed your Wood Release well," Tenzo muttered, frowning. "But the Hokage is worthy of his title—nothing in Konoha escapes his notice. I should've been more prepared."

"You only survived because they underestimated you. Next time, it won't be that easy. You'll need to be more careful. Danzo might look restrained now, but he won't give up. He'll just strike from the shadows."
