Chapter 46 - Chapter 046: From Today On, You Are My Brother

[Yamanaka Ino: Sister Anko, did you meet Itsuki?]

[Tenten: So fast? That's efficient.]

[Uzumaki Karin: How did you trigger it? Why don't I have one?]

[Mitarashi Anko: I did meet Itsuki. I showed my concern for him.]

[Mitarashi Anko: And now… I feel like I'm stronger than most jōnin. The boost is insane!]

[Tenten: The stacking effect depends on your base stats. The stronger you already are, the more the buff skyrockets.]

[Yamanaka Ino: Just "concern"? Yeah, right.]

[Uzumaki Karin: Wuuwuwu… I want a buff too. Is it because I haven't openly shown my feelings for Itsuki-kun?]

[Mitarashi Anko: Exactly. From what I've seen, the system doesn't care about what you feel. It only counts your actions. Being nice to Itsuki secretly won't cut it—you have to actually show it.]

[Tenten: Then I'll just have to go all in on being nice to him. I wonder if being his girlfriend would boost me a few extra levels?]

[Yamanaka Ino: Don't even think about it! Itsuki belongs to everyone!]

[Tenten: Tch, I didn't say I wanted to monopolize him. I don't mind being one of Itsuki's many girlfriends. As long as you all can accept it, I won't complain.]

[Hyūga Hinata: …]

[Uzumaki Karin: Count me in, I don't mind either.]

[Mitarashi Anko: Oh ho ho, you kids can't handle him yet. Leave it to me.]

[Yamanaka Ino: !!!]

[Tenten: ...]

Anko hugged Itsuki's arm tightly, grinning to herself.

Let them argue in the group—she was the one actually carrying Itsuki in her arms. She had the real advantage.

And the sudden 200% stat boost proved it.

If being good to Itsuki meant leveling up like this, then why stop? She'd praise him to the heavens if that's what it took.

Her personality was direct—she wasn't the type to play coy. If showing affection got her stronger, she would never hesitate.

"Let me introduce myself," Anko said smoothly. "Mitarashi Anko. Special Jōnin of Konoha."

She smiled at him. "You're young, strong, and calm under pressure. I like talented kids like you. If you ever get into trouble, come to me."

Then, with a mischievous glint, she leaned close and licked the edge of his Anbu mask.

(Well, she was Orochimaru's disciple. Some habits rubbed off.)

Itsuki sighed inwardly. Why did I have to be wearing a mask right now…

"My name's Itsuki. Fresh graduate from the Academy this year," he replied.

He feigned surprise. "We've never met before, right? How can you tell I'm calm and capable?"

Anko chuckled. "Don't underestimate me. Recon is my specialty. After the barrier broke, I only needed one glance at the battlefield to read everything. The jutsu you used was Wood Release, wasn't it? That's why Root came after you."

"Root?" Itsuki tilted his head. "They're part of Konoha, right? What kind of organization is that?"

Anko hesitated. "It's a secret branch of the village. Few know of it, and even fewer understand it. I only know more than most because of… certain connections."

She didn't mention Orochimaru's ties to Danzo. That wasn't for Itsuki to hear—yet.

By then, they had arrived at Konoha Hospital. The medics confirmed he had no injuries, only chakra exhaustion.

Itsuki's frailty was an act, of course. With Wood Release's vitality, it was hard for him to truly be injured.

He couldn't heal like Hashirama without hand signs, but stimulating his cells with chakra gave him near-instant regeneration.

Pretending to be weak had its uses. After all, as the saying went: the crying child gets the milk.

By showing vulnerability, he forced the Hokage's hand—and made Danzo's schemes harder to excuse.

"Thank you, Sister Anko," Itsuki said softly. "I've been an orphan since childhood. Not many people care about me… it feels nice to have someone who does."

"Aha… don't make it sound like I did so much," Anko said, scratching her cheek, uncharacteristically flustered.

Then, suddenly, her eyes lit up.

No parents. No one close to him. That's perfect!

She clapped her hands. "It's settled! From today on, you're my brother. My real brother!"

That way, she could stay close to him openly. No one would question it, and Itsuki couldn't push her away. Genius!

"Isn't that… a little sudden?" Itsuki thought, but he didn't object.

Whether they called it siblings or not, he was the one benefitting.

"There's nothing wrong with it!" Anko declared. And while he wasn't paying attention, she tugged off his Anbu mask.

Her eyes sparkled. "Oh? What a handsome young man. Jackpot! Now that I know your true face, if you refuse me, I'll have to report myself to the Hokage. And if that happens… well, your dear sister would be punished."

She leaned in with a wicked smile, eyes glittering.

Itsuki shivered. Sister Anko, do you have any idea how dangerous you sound right now?

In truth, he used to be plain-looking, the kind of kid no one noticed.

But after gaining Wood Release and reshaping his future, his features had subtly refined. Not a drastic change, but enough to make him striking.

No wonder Tenten blushed and ran away after their second sparring match.

"Little Itsuki, little Itsuki!" Anko waved her hand in front of his eyes, snapping him out of thought. "What's wrong? Daydreaming? If you don't agree, I'll just force you!"

Seeing her mischievous smirk, Itsuki chuckled and pretended to give in. "Fine, fine. Sister Anko."

"Good boy!" Anko grinned wide and planted a firm kiss on his cheek.
