Chapter 66 - I Am Not a Good Person

[Host has completed diary creation. Reward: Soul power increased by one level.]

Feeling the surge of soul power within him, Chu Bai only felt his whole body lighten.

His strength had now reached Level 56 — not far from becoming a Soul Emperor.

Just as he was about to rest before dawn, Chu Bai heard someone knocking on his door. Wondering who would come at this hour, he walked over. The moment he opened the door, he saw Zhu Zhuqing standing outside.

"Big sister, you again?"

When Chu Bai saw it was Zhu Zhuqing, he felt his whole body go numb.

Was she trying to test his patience now?

I'm not exactly a good person!

"I… I came to thank you. If it weren't for you… I definitely wouldn't have had the strength to defeat Dai Mubai."

Zhu Zhuqing lowered her head, speaking softly.

Her voice grew quieter and quieter, until perhaps only she could hear herself.

"This is how you thank me? Have you ever seen a girl come to thank a man in the middle of the night when they're alone together?" Chu Bai said with a helpless smile. "You don't think I helped you because I have some feelings for you, do you?"

"You… don't?"

Zhu Zhuqing bit her lip and lifted her head sharply, as if trying to confirm something.

"I…"

Chu Bai took a deep breath. Damn it, she's being this forward—if I don't act now, am I still a man?!

The next moment, Zhu Zhuqing was pulled rather forcefully into the room by Chu Bai.

Not far away, Ning Rongrong—who had been about to head toward Chu Bai's room—froze completely in place.

She'd been beaten to it again?!

That last half hour before sunrise… was destined to be a sleepless one for all three of them.

——

The next morning, Chu Bai only felt an immense emptiness…

With dark circles under his eyes, he stepped out of his room. As soon as he did, he saw Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong walking over.

Because of what had happened the previous night, Zhu Zhuqing's expression turned slightly shy when she saw Chu Bai—but given her personality, she didn't show it on her face.

Ning Rongrong, however, was glaring at Chu Bai with puffed cheeks.

"Morning," Chu Bai said casually.

"Morning my foot! Do you even know what time it is?" Ning Rongrong scolded, pointing at him.

"???"

Chu Bai gave her a strange look. "What's wrong with you, big sister? Is it that time of the month? Did you swallow gunpowder or something?"

"You—! I—!"

Ning Rongrong rolled her eyes and stormed downstairs first, leaving Chu Bai standing there dumbfounded.

Zhu Zhuqing naturally understood Ning Rongrong's feelings. Though she felt a bit embarrassed, she didn't regret anything.

She could tell Ning Rongrong liked Chu Bai too.

But wasn't this just fair competition?

Why should she feel guilty?

Soon after, Chu Bai picked up A Yin in his arms and went downstairs together with Zhu Zhuqing.

"Are we heading to Heaven Dou City now?" Zhu Zhuqing asked, glancing at him.

"Exactly. I was originally planning to visit Sunset Forest first, but it seems there's no need anymore."

Chu Bai sighed inwardly. I was going to plant A Yin in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, but then I remembered—I have the Life Soil! Even immortal herbs can fully mature in a week. Why shouldn't A Yin be able to thrive too?

"With the help of the Life Soil, A Yin's cultivation should rapidly increase," he thought to himself.

Then he said to the two girls, "There's no reason to stay in Soto City now anyway. The Shrek group has already moved."

That information had come from Yue Guan the day before. While protecting Chu Bai, they had also been investigating Shrek-related matters—and naturally learned that Shrek Academy had relocated.

"They moved? Where are they going?" Ning Rongrong asked curiously. Was it because they couldn't survive in Soto City anymore?

"Most likely to Heaven Dou Royal Academy."

Chu Bai smiled faintly. With Dugu Bo no longer opposing Shrek's people joining Heaven Dou Royal Academy, they should be able to enter smoothly. Perhaps soon, the name Shrek Academy would cease to exist altogether.

Then again, maybe not. If they ended up joining Liu Erlong's academy instead, who could say?

——

Outside Heaven Dou City, a black-robed man with scarlet eyes appeared.

He was nearly deranged—losing A Yin had driven him into utter madness.

"Chu Bai… I will kill you! I'll kill every single one of you from Spirit Hall!"

Tang Hao's aura was extremely weak, and because of his overwhelming rage, he could barely control the killing intent surging inside him. If he completely lost control, his injuries would erupt and he'd die on the spot.

For now, he was forcing himself to endure, staggering toward a building at the center of Heaven Dou City.

Soon, Tang Hao stumbled to a halt before the gates of Yuexuan.

Feeling the increasingly chaotic killing intent in his body, he didn't care about anything else and strode straight inside.

"Yuehua! Yuehua!"

Tang Hao roared, his consciousness growing dim.

The guards at Yuexuan mistook him for a drunken lunatic attempting to offend Tang Yuehua. They immediately released their soul power and attacked him—unaware that this single act would push Tang Hao completely over the edge!

The grief of losing A Yin, combined with his uncontrollable killing intent, made Tang Hao a beast ready to slaughter everything in sight.

"ROAR!"

With a furious roar, Tang Hao struck out with his palm, killing a guard with the strength of a Soul King instantly—his head exploded on the spot.

A chill swept through everyone present. The remaining guards screamed and fled in terror, while Tang Hao only grew more frenzied.

Then, a soft and melodious sound of a zither filled the air.

The music seemed to carry a kind of magic—an extremely gentle power that slightly calmed Tang Hao's madness. The crimson in his eyes faded a little, though his body could no longer hold on. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.

"Second Brother!"

Tang Yuehua recognized him instantly. She couldn't believe it—the once high-spirited Clear Sky Douluo, reduced to such a miserable state.

At that moment, a refined young man approached from a distance.

It was Xue Qinghe—also known as Qian Renxue.

Noticing the commotion, Qian Renxue's expression changed slightly. "Aunt Yuehua, what's going on here…"

"He… he's someone I know," Tang Yuehua said quickly. "But he's gravely injured, and his killing intent is rampaging. He's lost control of himself. Qinghe, I need you to find a physician—quickly."

Tang Yuehua did not reveal Tang Hao's identity. Hearing this, Qian Renxue didn't hesitate and immediately turned to leave Yuexuan in search of a doctor.

But she hadn't gone far before running into a familiar figure on the street…

When she saw him, the corner of her mouth twitched.

"Just my luck," Qian Renxue muttered. "The moment I step out, I run into that guy who curses me every day in his diary."

Ahead of her, Chu Bai was walking toward her.
