Chapter 33 - Chapter 13 (50%): Auswahlen X The Utopia of Control , ( middle )

Before the story, Kang Woo checked his status window, leaving Makima behind in the rain at Aokigahara Forest. His expression was calm, but something inside him had already begun to unravel. What followed was instinct. A maniacal urge to hunt. . To kill. And in this hunt, the helpless rabbit was none other than the Aging Devil herself.

Now to the main story :

Makima's eyes filled with sudden, burning determination. She slammed her palm into the wall one more time and screamed: "What you've lost—LOVE ITSELF—can be obtained back. I swear… I will never let you go!"

As those words ripped from her chest, something ignited deep inside her—a spark Kang Woo himself had planted.

Suddenly, blue light raced across her arms. Veins of glowing reishi—the telltale mark of Blut Vene—spread under her skin in a fractal web. Makima gasped as pure Reishi gathered around her, spinning into a luminous aura.

She drew back her fist, eyes fierce, and hurled one final punch forward. A shockwave burst outward.

The wall of Quincy crosses shattered like glass, exploding into countless shards of glittering blue light.

Makima stood panting, chest heaving. She stared down at her hands, blue veins still glowing beneath her pale skin. …Am I… a Quincy too? she thought, stunned.

But she forced herself to ignore it, shaking off her shock. she told herself. Right now… I have to reach him.

She ran forward, boots splashing through puddles on the scorched ground.

Ahead, about fifty meters away, she saw Kang Woo standing tall amid the storm. In his hands gleamed a massive spirit weapon—a Diagramm sniper rifle, its barrel shining with deadly reishi.

On the ground nearby lay the Aging Devil, bloodied and broken, its arms and legs severed. It writhed helplessly, its featureless mouth opening and closing in silent horror.

Finally, Aging Devil managed to speak, voice trembling. "…What kind of monster are you…? ?"

Kang Woo gave a faint, eerie smile. "Buddy, I've got the same question. What am I supposed to be—a Frankenstein knockoff? Or did the chaos gods just shuffle a few papers and, poof, here I am? Either way, I know one thing—your Ruler's standing right here."

He raised the rifle, its scope glimmering, and angled the deadly muzzle toward the Aging Devil's face. His finger began to tighten on the trigger.

But in the same instant, a surge of swirling darkness burst out of nowhere—rippling like liquid night. Kang Woo's eyes flicked sideways, unfazed.

He recognized it immediately. One of his own Commandments… rebelling . It was the Commandment of Piety darkness slammed makima body , hurling her forward. She skidded to a stop, just two meters in front of Kang Woo.

He frowned, lowering the sniper slightly as he glared at her. "Out of my way, Makima. I need that Aging Devil to advance myself."

Makima stood silent, panting, hair soaked and clinging to her face. But her eyes blazed with defiance. " Not until you're a bit better version of yourself."

Kang Woo's gaze dropped briefly to her arms, where the glowing blue veins of Blut Vene traced brilliant paths across her pale skin. He let out a short, amused laugh.

"Congrats… you've got Blut Vene,. But that doesn't change what your current position is…"

He lifted the Diagramm rifle again, sighting down the barrel. "…Because this X-Axis rifle…. , …will hit its target—with or without you standing in my way."

But Makima didn't flinch. Instead, she tore the Quincy cross bracelet from her wrist, ripped off the ring of Narya, and even tossed aside the Commandment orb Kang Woo had given her. They clattered to the scorched ground at her feet,.

Then, in a single, deliberate motion, she shrugged off her coat, letting it fall away to reveal her battered Public Safety Devil Hunter uniform, torn and stained, her shoulders bare and trembling in the chill wind. She stared at him with shining eyes.

"If you're giving me all these gifts just so you can abandon me… that's not what I want," she said, her voice low but steady. "Because I've already found my utopia."

Kang Woo's expression twisted, his eyes blazing with raw fury—a fury deeper than anything he'd shown before. His words exploded from him like gunfire.

"Makima—this is an X-Axis rifle! When I fire it, it will kill you and the Aging Devil in the same instant. Nothing will hinder it from its target—not even another planet in the way. And to be precise—" He snarled, his teeth bared. "—you will die a USELESS death. So GET. THE FUCK. OFF. MY LINE OF SIGHTS !"

But Makima only raised both hands, palms out, and stepped closer. Her smile trembled on the edge between heartbreak and stubborn defiance.

"Then why are you explaining it in so much detail right now?" she said, half-joking, half-weeping. Right now… I have my utopia. But the more you reach for Strenght… the farther away you get. That's the outcome I don't want."

Her eyes softened. Her voice cracked as she spoke her truth.

"If you want to shoot me… then go ahead."

A single tear rolled down her cheek "But remember… , no matter what past you've hidden—I always love you. Even if the end of the world comes… I will always love you."

Kang Woo's expression darkened, his crimson eyes narrowing as a fresh wave of fury surged through him.

From his back, swirling Reishi spiraled and condensed, forming into the towering silhouette of Lille Barro's second Vollständig—a monstrous figure crowned with wings of blazing light, its form radiating lethal pressure.

Kang Woo raised his Diagramm rifle, now fused seamlessly into the enormous Trompete of Lille's manifestation, the barrel widening into a vast trumpet-like . The ground around them quaked as its power built, drawing in the very particles of the air.

Makima squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself, accepting Kang Woo's decision.

But then… Kang Woo's voice cut through the hum of the gathering apocalypse, half-bitterly resigned. "…If there was a Commandment of Love hovering nearby … I'd get the penalty for sure."

And instead of lowering the Trompete toward Makima, he suddenly swung it skyward.

With a thunderous blast, Kang Woo fired the Trompete—a howling, celestial roar echoing like the judgment day's trumpet.

The X-Axis beam split the heavens in a blinding spear of white-orane annihilation, tearing a vast hole through the artificial Reishi sky. Through the ragged gap, a fragment of the true night sky shimmered above them, stars glimmering in silent witness.

Makima slowly opened her eyes. She blinked in shock, realizing… she was the next instant, Kang Woo shattered the Reishi rifle in his hands, shards of spirit particles disintegrating around his fingers like glittering dust. He dropped the fragments… and stepped forward.

Then, without a word, Kang Woo pulled Makima into his arms, crushing her against his chest. His wings flickered behind him, folding close. His face remained expressionless, but his voice rumbled low, tight with a mixture of frustration and something far more vulnerable. "I hate you… with every fiber of my being, . "You always get in my way. And now… this is the first time I've ever moved two steps back."

Makima's eyes widened. Tears filled them once again—but this time, they were tears of joy. She let out a trembling laugh, her arms tightening fiercely around him. "I'm glad you accept me… Kang Woo. Thank you… thank you…"

And there, under the torn sky and the falling rain of glowing Reishi, Makima sobbed against him—happy, overwhelmed, and holding on as if she would never let go.

Kang Woo held her close for a moment longer, then stared off into the shimmering sky, his eyes distant.'When was the last time… I didn't want to discard someone like this? '.' I really don't like this unknown sensation.'

Makima heard his muttered words and, despite the tears shining on her cheeks, let out a soft chuckle. "If that 'unknown' feeling stays stuck on you… then I'm very glad. Being in someone's heart… that's what love is supposed to be, right?"

Kang Woo exhaled sharply, his expression still a mix of frustration and confusion. But he let go of her gently and turned his gaze toward the figure nearby.

The Aging Devil, battered and missing a leg and an arm, was desperately trying to crawl toward a shimmering mirror it had conjured, seeking escape.

But before it could vanish, Kang Woo's eyes flashed cold. "Sankt Altar."

In an instant, five glowing orbs of Reishi materialized and flew to positions around the Aging Devil. Beams of blinding blue energy shot from each orb, converging in a blazing Quincy Zeichen that encircled the devil.

The Aging Devil screamed in agony as the light seared into it, its essence draining away like water through a sieve.

Kang Woo lowered his hand, and power surged into him—a vast influx of energy, the very concept of aging torn away from its former master.

The Aging Devil slumped forward, gasping, eyes wide with terror. "W-what…? Where… where is my aging strength…? Wh—"

But Kang Woo didn't even look at it. He simply turned away, hands in his pockets, his expression still simmering with annoyance. Makima fell into step beside him, casting a brief, pitying glance at the crumpled devil behind them.

The Aging Devil let out a ragged shriek. "Give it back! Without it, I… I won't be the Aging Devil anymore!"

Makima paused, tilting her head as if considering it, then gave a tiny, wry smile. "I suppose… you'll just have to change professions."

And with that, she turned, following Kang Woo as he walked away beneath the rain of falling Reishi, leaving the defeated devil behind in the ruined forest.
