Chapter 203 - Chapter 204: The Promise

Sugimoto Reimi finished speaking, then turned her head to look at the two of them.

"I understand. You want us to help you find the real killer, don't you?" Johnson Joffrey mused.

Sugimoto Reimi was about to speak, but Kishibe Rohan interrupted her, saying, "Are you saying all this because you want us to help you find the killer? That won't do. You need to know something."

"Why should we help you? Just because you dragged us here to listen to your story? You need to…" Kishibe Rohan pompously delivered what he thought were calm remarks, but they were all just tsundere.

Kishibe Rohan was quite a tsundere. When Johnson Joffrey used to watch the anime, he thought he was someone who said one thing but meant another, with a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Now, he didn't know if he was influenced by the real situation, but he only felt that Kishibe Rohan was quite a nagging person.

"I'll help you, please give me more information about the murderer," Johnson Joffrey said unceremoniously.

"What?!" Sugimoto Reimi's eyes widened as she looked at Johnson. "No, I wasn't asking you to do something so dangerous for me. I was asking you to remind the police."

"Chasing criminals is truly too dangerous," Sugimoto Reimi walked up to Johnson and looked up at him.

"Let me just say," Kishibe Rohan put his hand on Johnson's shoulder, "how is it that I didn't know a gang leader could be so compassionate?"

"That's where you misunderstand. You have a very serious misconception about the Italian Mafia. We often take on commissions from Italian residents, sometimes we're even better than the police."

Kishibe Rohan frowned.

"Since you put it that way, are you intentionally trying to make me seem uncompassionate?" Kishibe Rohan accused, then turned to Sugimoto Reimi and said, "I'm just going to help you a little so I'm not outdone by this guy."

But Sugimoto Reimi shook her head and said, "No, that won't do. It's too dangerous. You just need to tell the police for me."

"We're not helping you," Kishibe Rohan said, then turned his head away and added, "I just thought that a manga theme about tracking down criminals might not be bad. That's all."

Johnson Joffrey glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, thinking helplessly, 'Kishibe Rohan, you're really such a fussbudget.'

"Sugimoto Reimi, leave it to me. I will definitely find the real killer for you."

Sugimoto Reimi's eyes widened as she looked at Johnson Joffrey, seeming as if she still wanted to say something, but Johnson said, "What I've decided won't change. And if I die because of it, don't blame yourself."

"In this world, righteous things always need someone to do them. The cartoonist over there and I are very powerful."

Sugimoto Reimi hadn't spoken to anyone in a long time. This was the first time someone had offered her help—

"Tell me, what's your impression of that killer?" Johnson Joffrey asked directly.

Sugimoto Reimi frowned, seemingly beginning to think. "I really can't remember. The souls of all the deceased appear from this sky. Although there are various different people, I know that a portion of them were definitely murdered by him."

"What he said before he killed you was—" Johnson Joffrey said, then looked at her arm. Her hands were indeed beautiful, and she had pink nail polish on them.

"He said your hands were beautiful. If your family has no enemies at all, and he is still killing people now, consider him a perverted serial killer. This type of killer usually decides to kill due to some kind of trigger."

"Wait, it's also possible he just kills for the sake of killing. I've read psychology books, and there are many people who commit indiscriminate murders."

"Regardless, this is a lead. We have no other clues."

After hearing this, Kishibe Rohan pondered for a moment and then said, "Then I'll go back quickly. I can visit the police station under the guise of gathering material."

"Mm," Johnson nodded in approval.

"Then I'll lead you out. This is called the Alley of No Return. To get out of this alley, you just need to go around that intersection. But remember, you absolutely must not look back."

Sugimoto Reimi led Johnson and Kishibe Rohan directly out of there. Although there were indeed invisible things constantly talking behind them, and they were sticky, and finally even said 'You can look back now,' Johnson and Kishibe Rohan were both reliable adults, and they successfully walked out of the alley.

When they looked back, Sugimoto Reimi stood at the entrance of the alley with her dog and said, "No matter what, please be careful, Rohan... and Mr. Geoffrey."

Johnson Joffrey looked at her face and suddenly felt a little sad.

Am I pitying this girl? Johnson Joffrey looked at her smiling face, then thought that a little girl about the same age as his sister would always evoke a little sympathy.

Sigh, pity is pity, why do I have to be as fussy as Kishibe Rohan?

"I have a younger brother who can create things with life force, but I'm not sure if he can create a physical body with life force," Johnson Joffrey said honestly.

"Huh? Does such an ability exist in this world?" Sugimoto Reimi asked in surprise. "Then can I be resurrected?"

"Pretty much, but don't get your hopes up too high, because I'm not entirely sure."

Sugimoto Reimi lowered her head slightly, as if recalling something from the past, and said with a touch of sadness, "Let's forget about such things. Besides that murderer, there's nothing else I long for. What's the point of continuing a life on my own?"

"Don't say that, this world is a beautiful place," Johnson Joffrey said. "I don't know much, but at least this is a world where you can achieve a good destiny if you work hard."

"In this world, all the villains I know have been defeated by kind and powerful people, and I also know that good people like you will surely live well."

Sugimoto Reimi stared at him blankly, then awkwardly turned her head and said, "I'm not…" Halfway through her sentence, she seemed to make up her mind—

"Then it's a deal. Once that murderer gets his just deserts, I'll return to this world."

Johnson Joffrey nodded, preparing to leave, but she reached out and said, "Pinky promise, it's a deal."

"Even I'm not sure, my brother…"

Johnson stopped halfway through his sentence, then said, "It's a deal."

He reached out and hooked her beautiful finger. She squinted her eyes with a smile. "And you too, Little Rohan."

"Don't be so familiar, woman." Although he said that, Kishibe Rohan still reached out his hand.

"Hahaha." Her laughter was very clear.
