Killer Bee was blasted unconscious by Momoshiki's devastatingly powerful Super Tailed Beast Ball.
Momoshiki's figure blurred, appearing above the Eight-Tails' massive ox head. He extended his palm, the red Rinnegan glowing ominously as he began greedily absorbing the Eight-Tails' chakra.
"As expected of Lord Momoshiki—effortless, completely under control," Urashiki praised from the side.
"Hmph. If Kaguya had cultivated the God Tree here back then, I wouldn't have to go through all this trouble," Momoshiki said coldly.
"Kaguya betrayed the clan," Urashiki replied. "She fell for the people of this planet… even bore children with one of them."
"Disgraceful," Momoshiki spat. His face twisted with contempt.
"Because of her betrayal, she cut off the chakra that was meant to be supplied to us," Kinshiki added, his tone sharp as a blade.
"Yes, that traitor Kaguya feared our power," Urashiki continued. "She even created living weapons to defend herself. But her own children stopped her, sealing her away."
Momoshiki smirked coldly. "Then they've saved us the trouble of punishing her ourselves. For once, those lower beings did something useful."
After finishing the absorption, he looked down at the three black-and-red chakra pills resting in his palm. His expression turned sour.
"Only this much?" he muttered. "Pathetic. I overestimated these so-called monsters."
"It's fine, Lord Momoshiki," Urashiki said, smiling faintly. "There's still another Jinchūriki waiting for us."
Kinshiki's eyes narrowed. "I'm sensing a stronger chakra not far from here. That must be the one we've been looking for."
"The Nine-Tails' Jinchūriki…" Momoshiki said with a greedy grin. "Excellent."
Land of Wind — Hidden Sand Village
"The Chunin Exams are approaching. You three confident?" Kankuro asked, standing before his students.
"The three of us will not bring shame to Father's name," said Shinki, the young man with red markings on his face.
Dressed in the Sand's shinobi uniform, he wore a black cloak formed from Iron Sand, floating gently around him through Magnet Release.
Gaara, standing nearby, smiled faintly. "Shinki, there's no need to boast. Your biggest concern shouldn't be me—it's the other villages' competitors you haven't faced yet."
"Other villages?" Shinki said calmly. "They're not a problem."
"Don't underestimate them," Gaara warned. "Especially Konoha's Genin. They're strong."
"Konoha?" Shinki tilted his head. "You said the Seventh Hokage's son will be participating too, right?"
"That's right," Gaara nodded. "I've met Naruto's son. He's quite talented. Consider him one of your main rivals."
"The Hokage's son, huh?" Shinki's eyes lit with excitement. "To earn even Father's praise—he must be worth facing."
"Good," Gaara said. "Now, get some rest on the lightning train. Kankuro, you'll escort them. Make sure they reach Konoha before the second exam begins."
"Understood," Kankuro replied. "Once we arrive, I'll find Temari first."
After seeing them off, Gaara turned to leave—but then a familiar voice echoed in his mind.
"Gaara…"
Gaara froze. "That voice… Shukaku?"
He closed his eyes and entered his mental space.
There, the One-Tail stood waiting.
"It's been a while," Gaara said quietly. "Didn't expect you to reach out first."
"Heh. That should tell you how serious this is," Shukaku replied, his tone unusually grim.
"My connection with the Eight-Tails just broke. Something's happened."
"What?" Gaara's expression darkened. "Only the Eight-Tails?"
"Yeah. I can still feel Naruto and the others, but something's off. I don't like this feeling," Shukaku said flatly.
"I've warned you. Do what you must, Gaara."
"Thank you, my friend," Gaara said softly, before his consciousness returned to the real world.
Konoha Village
"Good luck, Big Brother!" Himawari cheered as Boruto adjusted his jacket.
"Thanks, Hima," Boruto said with a grin, patting her on the head.
"Boruto," Hinata said gently, standing nearby, "I know you're strong. The Chunin Exams aren't much for you—but remember to stay calm."
"Got it, Mom," Boruto said with a reassuring smile.
When he stepped outside, Sarada and Mitsuki were already waiting for him.
At the Chunin Exams venue, the arena was packed. Shinobi from every major village had gathered—Hidden Leaf, Sand, Mist, Cloud, and Stone—all here for the first joint Chunin Exams.
"These guys all look tough," Inojin muttered, scanning the crowd.
"Of course," Shikadai replied. "Each village sent their best. This exam's not going to be easy."
"What's the matter? You scared already?" Chocho teased.
"Who's scared?!" Inojin snapped. "I'm just… assessing their power."
Before Chocho could respond, Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki entered the stadium.
"Boruto, over here!" Shikadai called out.
"Hey, it's been a while," Boruto said, smiling.
"I just hope we don't run into you guys too early," Inojin said, rubbing his forehead.
"Worried already?" Chocho said with a smirk. "You should focus on passing the first round before thinking about the prelims."
"Hah, please. If our Ino–Shika–Cho team can't pass round one, we'd be the joke of Konoha," Inojin said confidently.
Metal Lee, standing nearby, was visibly trembling.
"Everyone's looking at me… oh crap…" he muttered, his hands shaking.
"Metal's still got that nervous habit, huh?" Sarada chuckled.
"He's improved a lot," Shikadai laughed. "Before, he'd freeze up if one person looked at him. Now it takes a crowd."
Mitsuki smiled. "If Metal actually makes it to the individual matches, he'll be performing in front of thousands."
Shikadai smirked. "At that point, his opponent could just stand there and win by default."
Everyone burst out laughing, the tension breaking instantly.
"Boruto!" a familiar voice called.
Boruto turned to see Sumire Kakei jogging toward him.
"Sumire, you're here," Boruto said, smiling.
"Of course," she said, slightly out of breath.
"Sumire!" Sarada said, walking up to her and taking her hand warmly.
Not far away, Shinki watched them quietly.
"So that's Boruto Uzumaki… the Seventh Hokage's son," he thought. "The one who defeated my father…"
"Is he really that strong?"
"Shinki?" Yodo nudged him. "You zoning out again?"
"Nothing," Shinki replied calmly. "Let's go—the opening ceremony's about to start."
Shikamaru's voice echoed across the arena through the microphone.
"Quiet down, everyone! Make sure all teams are present."
The chatter quickly faded.
Shikamaru looked across the sea of young faces and nodded.
"The first Five Kage Allied Chunin Selection Exams are now officially open!"
