"Have I ever helped anyone fulfill a dream?"
A flicker of confusion crossed Kabuto Yakushi's face—then recognition dawned.
"Wait… are you talking about Edo Tensei?"
Boruto nodded slightly. "Exactly. Edo Tensei."
Kabuto's eyes narrowed. "Naruto's son, do you even know what Edo Tensei really is?"
He paused for a moment, then said quietly, "It's a forbidden jutsu that manipulates the dead. A sin I swore never to repeat."
His tone was heavy, tinged with regret.
"I made unforgivable mistakes chasing power. But I decided long ago to abandon that darkness—and atone in my own way."
"Atonement?" Boruto asked curiously. "Is it because of Izanami?"
Kabuto looked mildly surprised. "I didn't expect you to know about Izanami. I've already broken that genjutsu."
He sighed softly. "The person standing here now is one who's rediscovered his true self."
Boruto smirked. "Rediscovered, huh? Personally, I think 'Dream Weaver' suits you better. Being an orphanage director can stay your part-time gig."
As he spoke, Boruto activated his Tenseigan.
A brilliant, silver-white chakra sphere condensed in his palm.
In an instant, Kabuto felt the chakra inside his own body being drained—drawn out like a tide toward that orb.
His eyes widened. "W–what is this…?!"
His knees buckled as his strength rapidly faded. "What kind of ability… can extract chakra like this?"
Boruto looked down at him calmly. "Don't worry, it's not fatal. I didn't come to you before because I wasn't strong enough to control you."
He smiled faintly. "But now... I am."
Kabuto's voice trembled. "Why are you doing this?"
"To defeat the Ōtsutsuki Clan," Boruto replied.
A Reincarnation Spiritual Ball appeared before him and entered Kabuto's body.
Kabuto's expression went blank, his eyes losing all emotion—like a puppet whose strings had just been pulled tight.
Boruto stepped closer and lightly snapped his fingers.
A sharp click echoed through the air.
Kabuto's pupils refocused. "What… what did you do to me?"
"Nothing major," Boruto said evenly. "Just means you'll be working for me from now on."
Kabuto stared at him in disbelief. "You're terrifying… are you really Naruto's son?"
Boruto grinned. "What? You want a DNA test to make sure?"
Kabuto sighed, shaking his head. "No need. You and your father look too much alike. A test would be redundant."
Deep beneath the Land of Fire, a vast underground chamber lay hidden.
After a shimmer of spatial distortion, Krab appeared, bringing Boruto and Kabuto along with him.
Kabuto's eyes widened immediately.
"This is… the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path? How can it be here?!"
"That's right," Boruto replied calmly. "From now on, you'll be working here. Your orphanage duties can be handled by a Shadow Clone."
Kabuto gave a bitter smile. "Do I even have the right to refuse anymore?"
Boruto ignored the question. "When you performed Edo Tensei before, did you keep any backups of the tissue samples you used?"
"The body tissues were sealed inside a scroll," Kabuto explained. "That scroll's still hidden in one of Orochimaru's old abandoned bases. Uchiha Madara's aged corpse is stored there as well."
"Uchiha Madara, huh?" Boruto murmured.
Then, curiosity flashed in his eyes, "By the way, I've always wondered—why did Madara appear in his younger form when you used Edo Tensei?"
Kabuto smiled faintly. "Madara's Edo Tensei was a special case. It was performed using his own body as the sacrifice."
"His own body?" Boruto raised an eyebrow. "So... a clone?"
Kabuto nodded. "Exactly. The corpse I found was extremely old, but I used Madara's genetic material to cultivate a young clone."
He continued, his tone becoming more analytical, "The essence of Edo Tensei is summoning a soul from the afterlife and binding it to a living vessel.
The higher the compatibility between soul and sacrifice, the more perfect the reincarnation—and the closer it is to the original's peak power."
"The clone I created had nearly one hundred percent compatibility with Madara's soul," Kabuto said. "That's why he appeared in his prime."
Boruto nodded thoughtfully. So that's why Madara looked young in the anime, he mused silently. Makes sense now.
He looked back at Kabuto. "So, how long would it take you to cultivate another Madara clone now?"
Kabuto thought for a moment. "Back then, it took three months to complete. But with the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path aiding the process, maybe fifteen days. I'd still need proper equipment, though."
Boruto waved dismissively. "Don't worry about that. I've already secured the cloning gear from Uchiha Shin's old base—it's stored in Konoha's warehouse."
Kabuto gave a small nod. "Uchiha Shin… one of Orochimaru-sama's former test subjects."
He paused, then asked, "After you resurrect Madara with Edo Tensei, are you sure you can control him? I couldn't."
Boruto's expression didn't waver. "It'll be fine. I'll also summon Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, and my grandfather Minato Namikaze at the same time."
Kabuto raised an eyebrow. "The First, Second, and Fourth Hokage? Why skip the Third—Hiruzen Sarutobi?"
Boruto's tone hardened. "I don't like the Third Hokage. And besides—he's useless to me."
Twenty days later, inside the underground base, Boruto stood before four large cultivation tanks.
Inside floated the young forms of Uchiha Madara, Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, and Minato Namikaze. Their bodies rested quietly in nutrient solution, perfectly preserved.
Kabuto stood nearby, his fingers flying over the control panels, fine-tuning complex parameters.
Finally, he turned to Boruto.
"Their clones are complete."
"Good," Boruto said, his voice low and steady. "Then let's begin the Edo Tensei ritual."
