"Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing the mission!"
"Host has received 20 reward points!"
Cannonbolt listened to the voice in his mind and smiled faintly.
The air fell into absolute silence, as if time itself had frozen.
Future Gwen, the humans, the aliens on the street—everyone stared blankly at Cannonbolt without saying a word.
The scene looked absurd.
"…?"
Cannonbolt paused, confused by everyone's reaction.
"H-He… what did he just say?"
"He literally said, 'Kill all these scumbags and leave none alive!'"
"Brother Ben laid down a rule long ago! For criminals wanted by the Plumbers—even Maximum Security Inmates—no one is allowed to use vigilante justice or abuse violence!"
"But… no matter what, he did save us!"
In an instant, heated discussion erupted.
Opinions about Ethen split sharply.
Most people clearly couldn't accept this level of violent enforcement.
Brother Ben had been Earth's President for over a decade.
The rules he set were deeply rooted in everyone's hearts.
Even freaks.
Even Maximum Security Inmates.
They were still supposed to have rights.
"You people—are you joking?" Cannonbolt narrowed his eyes, obvious displeasure flashing across his face.
"Your name is Ethen, right?" Future Gwen landed on the ground, her expression conflicted and shaken.
"Is this what you call rules? This is too violent… too cruel."
"So what? Keep freaks alive for New Year celebrations?"
"Freaks are freaks," Cannonbolt snapped coldly.
"A leopard doesn't change its spots. If you think they can reform, I'll give you two words—dream on."
His words slammed into Future Gwen's worldview like a hammer.
She couldn't accept this kind of rule.
Not morally.
Not ideologically.
But—
Future Gwen opened her mouth, trying to refuse.
Nothing came out.
She no longer had the strength to travel across universes again.
All hope now rested on Ethen.
"Gwen Tennyson, you can't allow him to abuse vigilante justice!"
"If this continues, strip him of his Plumber status—demote him back to an Apprentice Plumber for reflection!"
Many recognized Gwen immediately.
The sister of a legend.
Future Gwen's hands trembled.
Should she uphold her beliefs—
Or surrender to reality?
"Hey, future Gwen." Cannonbolt's voice lowered as he stepped closer.
"I always knew you were the smartest one. You don't want to watch your universe get torn apart by Maximum Security Inmates… do you?"
He leaned close and whispered the words directly into her ear.
Whoosh.
Future Gwen's body trembled violently.
Fear flashed across her face as reality snapped back into focus.
That's right.
She was the weaker one.
The one begging for help.
"Your rules… I accept them."
Future Gwen lowered her head deeply.
Each word came out slow, heavy, humiliating.
She was yielding.
Abandoning her principles.
And the one she was yielding to was far younger than her.
Cannonbolt nodded, satisfied.
"Good. Then our cooperation continues."
He suddenly raised his voice and roared—
"Everyone, disperse! The Plumbers are working—no loitering!"
The deafening sound wave instantly scattered the crowd.
No more whispers.
No more judgment.
Silence returned.
Cannonbolt tapped the Master Control, canceling his transformation.
XLR8 followed, disengaging instantly.
Gwen landed softly, retracting her mana.
Future Gwen stared at the three of them, suppressing her shock.
"…Does your universe really have two Omnitrixes? And how did my younger self start using magic so early?"
Ethen smiled faintly, "It's a long story. But you can trust our combat power."
"…Alright." Future Gwen took a deep breath and pulled out a radar device.
Red dots flickered wildly across the screen.
"The Plumbers' headquarters is still operating, so the radar still works. It can detect Maximum Security Inmates within a hundred kilometers."
Ethen frowned, "If the Plumbers are still functioning… then what are the others doing? Why are there still so many inmates running loose?"
Before she could answer—
"Hmph!" Ben pouted.
"The Plumbers in our universe don't do much either. We're the ones cleaning up all the freaks."
"Hehe…" Future Gwen laughed awkwardly.
"Maybe they're… busy maintaining social order."
She clearly didn't want to go deeper.
"Enough," Ethen said firmly. "Let's focus. Let's start clearing the detected targets."
Future Gwen raised the radar.
"The location is… Atlanta, USA."
Atlanta
Countless mutated insects swarmed the sky.
A gaunt, hideous figure moved among them.
Clancy spread his arms wide, laughing maniacally.
"Hahahaha! Ten years locked up—and I'm finally free! This time, my bugs will devour the entire city until nothing is left!"
WHOOSH!!
CRACK!!
A Time Gate tore open above his head.
A man stepped out—wearing work clothes, an orange energy core embedded in his chest.
The time manager himself.
Professor Paradox.
"You've been locked up for ten years," Paradox yawned.
"Couldn't you just stay put? You had to make me come out and find you."
Clancy froze, then burst into laughter.
"Brother Ben's time dog—perfect timing!"
"My children! Kill him!!"
The swarm of insects condensed into a black tidal wave—
And charged straight toward Paradox.
