The forest of the replica Kuoh Academy was silent, except for the soft rustle of leaves. Yuuto moved through the trees with measured steps, his enhanced senses picking up three signatures approaching his position.
Three pawns. This should be quick.
Three figures burst through the treeline, all wearing confident expressions that would've been more intimidating if Yuuto didn't know exactly how outmatched they were.
The first was Shuriya, a young woman with long pale blue hair and amber eyes. Her tanned skin contrasted sharply with the bikini-style outfit she wore—a metallic underwire brassiere and silk loincloth that exposed her sides. Purple highlights around her eyes gave her an exotic look, and she wore various accessories including a silver tiara, neck rings with jewels, and a transparent pink veil across both arms.
Next to her was Marion, a girl with shoulder-length light brown hair and dark brown eyes, dressed in a buttoned, sleeveless French maid uniform with white lace trim, a standard maid headpiece, cuffs, and a white half-apron. Light grey tights completed the outfit.
The third was Bülent, another girl with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes, also wearing a sleeveless French maid uniform that exposed her cleavage. Her outfit featured a white laced design on the edges, along with a maid headpiece, half-apron, and forearm-length fingerless gloves.
All three locked eyes on Yuuto and dropped into combat stances.
"Well, well," Shuriya said with a smirk, her cat-like confidence evident. "Looks like we found one of Rias-sama's pieces already. The knight"
"Just one guy?" Bülent cracked her knuckles. "This is gonna be easy."
Marion giggled. "Should we make it quick or draw it out? Riser-sama did say we could have fun."
Yuuto tilted his head slightly, an amused smile playing on his lips. "You know, I appreciate the enthusiasm. But I'm on a bit of a schedule here."
He raised his right hand casually.
Green magical energy swirled around his palm, forming into solid shapes. One sword materialized first—a simple longsword with a silver blade. Then another appeared beside it. Then three more. Within seconds, a dozen swords of various shapes and sizes floated behind him, all gleaming with demonic energy.
Shuriya's confident expression faltered "What the... he can create swords?!"
"How is that possible?!" Marion gasped, taking a step back.
Bülent's eyes widened.
"As many as I need," Yuuto said cheerfully. "Now then, let's make this quick."
Marion charged first, demonic energy gathering in her palms. "Don't underestimate—"
A sword shot forward like a missile, intercepting her mid-charge. The blade's flat side caught her across the temple with a resounding crack. She dropped like a puppet with cut strings.
"One" Yuuto counted calmly.
"Marion!" Bülent shrieked, rushing forward to help her teammate.
Three swords converged on her from different angles. She managed to duck under one, but the other two caught her—one sweeping her legs, another slamming into her back. She hit the ground hard and didn't get up.
"Two"
Shuriya took a step back, her earlier confidence completely evaporated. "W-wait—"
"Spare you? Not gonna happen so just quit already" Yuuto said reasonably, the swords orbiting around him lazily.
Shuriya's hands trembled. For a moment, it looked like she might actually take the offer.
Then her pride kicked in "I'm not going down without a fight!"
She lunged forward, her promoted pawn abilities enhancing her speed.
Still not fast enough.
Yuuto sighed and snapped his fingers. Three swords converged on Shuriya from different angles. She tried to dodge, but the blades were faster—one swept her legs, another pinned her shoulder, and the third pressed against her back.
"And that makes it Three"
With a thought, he brought the swords down with enough force to eliminate. All three pawns vanished in flashes of light.
Grayfia's voice echoed through the pocket dimension, calm and professional.
*Three Pawns of Riser Phenex have been eliminated*
Yuuto dismissed his swords with a wave, the blades dissolving back into magical particles. He dusted off his hands and started walking deeper into the forest.
"Twelve to go," he muttered.
*One Rook and two Pawns of Riser Phenex have been eliminated*
'Well done, Koneko chan' Yuuto smirked as he walked towards the Koneko, where she was exiting out of the gymnasium with relaxed walk.
. . .
Minutes later, Yuuto found Koneko standing in the middle of the school playground, dusting off her hands. There wasn't a single scratch on her.
"Koneko-chan" Yuuto called out, walking over with an amused grin "Looks like you had fun."
"Hm" Koneko turned to look at him, her expression as blank as ever "They were weak"
"It's all thanks to your great senpai, with all that mist Breathing training sessions "
"Yes" Koneko confirmed. "The rook tried kung fu. Didn't work"
Yuuto chuckled. He wasn't surprised at all. The training sessions over the past ten days hadn't just been about raw power—he'd taught Koneko some principles from his Mist Breathing technique. Not the full forms, but enough to refine her movements, sharpen her reflexes, and heighten her combat instincts to an entirely new level.
The results spoke for themselves.
"Good work" Yuuto said, reaching out to ruffle her hair.
Koneko didn't swat his hand away this time and enjoyed his head pats.
"Six down," Yuuto said. "Nine to go. We should move toward—"
Yuuto's danger sense flared.
He moved on pure instinct, grabbing Koneko and diving to the side just as a massive explosion erupted where they'd been standing. The blast wave sent debris flying in all directions, cratering the ground and leaving a smoking hole three meters wide.
Yuuto rolled to his feet, positioning himself in front of Koneko. His eyes scanned upward, locking onto a figure descending from the sky on wings of flame.
Yubelluna.
The Bomb Queen. Riser's most powerful piece.
She was a voluptuous woman with long, wavy purple hair that cascaded down her back and matching violet eyes. The right side of her hair fell over her breast, covering her right eye, while the left side fell near the top of her skirt. She wore a navy blue tunic top with gold accents that revealed much of her cleavage, held together by a gold choker with blue and red jewels.
Her pale blue skirt had open sides, paired with red high-heeled shoes and thigh-high stockings with garter belts. Over this, she wore a white overcoat with black and gold accents and matching pauldrons. A black headband with a red-orange jewel adorned her forehead, and she wielded an ornate staff-like scepter that crackled with magical energy.
"My, my" Yubelluna said, her voice dripping with false sweetness as purple magic circles formed around her staff "How fortunate that you dodged. I was hoping to end this quickly. Knight sama~"
Yuuto's expression hardened, green magical energy began to swirl around him "Yubelluna. Riser's Queen"
She smiled, twirling her staff elegantly "You must be brave and strong enough to eliminate three pawns, but you're no match for me. Knight of Rias Gremory"
"Funny" Yuuto said, swords beginning to materialize behind him "I was about to say the same thing about you."
Yubelluna's smile didn't falter, but her eyes narrowed dangerously. Purple magical energy began gathering around her staff, crackling with power.
"Ara ara~"
Purple lightning crackled across the sky, and a figure descended gracefully between Yuuto and Yubelluna. The newcomer landed with perfect poise, one black Devil wing and one Fallen Angel wing spread wide behind her.
Akeno Himejima stood there in her shrine maiden outfit—a traditional miko uniform that somehow looked both elegant and dangerous on her. Holy lightning danced across her fingertips, crackling with barely restrained power. Her usual gentle smile was replaced with something far more predatory—a battle-hungry grin that promised pain.
"The priestess of thunder is.." Yubelluna said, genuine surprise flickering across her face as she stared at the mismatched wings. Her grip on her staff tightened "You're... a half-Fallen?"
"Guilty~" Akeno said cheerfully, holy lightning beginning to envelop both her hands. The crackling energy cast eerie purple-white shadows across her face. "Though I prefer to think of myself as getting the best of both worlds. The demonic power of a Devil..." The lightning in her left hand pulsed darker. "...and the holy power of a Fallen Angel"
Yubelluna's expression shifted, clearly reassessing the situation. A Devil-Fallen hybrid was rare, and their combination of holy and demonic power made them extremely unpredictable and dangerous opponent. Holy lightning was one of the few things that could seriously harm Devils, even high-ranking ones.
Akeno glanced back at Yuuto and Koneko, her expression softening slightly. "Yuuto-kun, Koneko-chan, you two should head to Riser's base. I'll handle things here."
"Akeno-senpai. Good luck"
"Don't worry, Koneko chan~" Akeno interrupted, her grin widening as she turned back to Yubelluna. Holy lightning coiled around her arms like living serpents "I've been waiting for a fight with the so-called 'Bomb Queen' ever since our last encounter" Her eyes gleamed with barely contained excitement. "I want to test out the full extent of my Fallen Angel powers"
Yuuto met her eyes and nodded, understanding the unspoken message. During their training sessions, he'd helped Akeno become more comfortable accessing her Fallen Angel side. This was her chance to prove herself.
"Understood. Don't take too long, Akeno-senpai."
"Ara, I'll try to make it quick~" Akeno's smile turned almost feral as holy lightning erupted around her in a brilliant display of power. "But I might want to savor this a little"
Yubelluna raised her staff defensively, purple magic swirling around the jeweled tip "Such arrogance. You think just because you can use holy lightning that you're suddenly my equal? The outcome will end with your defeat, Priestess of Thunder!"
"Oh my" Akeno said, her voice dropping to something dangerous, "I was still supposed to be holding back. But now..." Lightning exploded outward from her body in a massive surge of power. "...I'm not"
Yuuto grabbed Koneko's hand. "Let's go. Before we witness something, we're too young to watch with our innocent eyes"
They darted past the two Queens just as Yubelluna launched a barrage of explosive Bomb magic and Akeno countered with a storm of holy lightning. The collision of their powers sent shockwaves rippling through the area.
As they ran toward the new school building, Koneko glanced up at Yuuto "Senpai... you knew about Akeno-senpai being a Fallen Angel?"
"Yes" Yuuto replied, his eyes fixed ahead as they sprinted through the replica campus.
"Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"It wasn't my secret to tell, Koneko-chan. Akeno-senpai asked me not to say anything until she was ready to reveal it herself" He glanced down at his kouhai "Some things people need to share on their own terms, right?"
Koneko was quiet for a moment, then nodded "We can win now."
"For sure" Yuuto said with confidence.
They'd barely made it fifty meters when a figure dropped from the roof of a nearby building, landing directly in their path with a heavy thud that cracked the pavement.
Karlamine.
Riser's Knight stood before them in full armor—a striking combination of European and Japanese design. Her silver armor with black accents featured a European-style chest plate, gauntlets, and greaves, but Japanese samurai-style hip plates and shoulder guards. Her light brown hair was pulled back with a headband across her forehead, and her green eyes assessed them with a warrior's focus. A broadsword with a red jewel on its pommel hung at her left hip, wrapped in brown leather straps, while a dagger with a gold hilt rested behind her.
"Yuuto Kiba" Karlamine said, her hand moving to her sword "I'm Karlamine, Knight of Riser Sama. And I'll be your opponent!"
Before Yuuto could respond, another figure appeared—this one moving with predatory grace.
Isabela, Riser's other Rook, emerged from the shadows. She was a voluptuous woman with short light brown hair featuring three distinctive red highlights. A plain white mask covered the right side of her face, giving her a mysterious appearance.
Her outfit consisted of a black jacket with wide shoulders and a wide collar, cut off at the midriff to reveal her toned stomach. Three leather straps adorned both arms. The jacket was slightly open, revealing significant cleavage. Her matching black jeans had a section on the right leg cut away to reveal her thigh and rear, with three leather straps on her calves and two extra straps keeping the modified section in place. Black fighting gloves and boots completed her combat-ready ensemble.
She cracked her knuckles, her visible grey eye focusing on Koneko "I'll take the Rook"
Then, like ghosts materializing from mist, five more figures appeared behind Karlamine.
Mihae stepped forward first—a young girl in an elegant kimono with a color pattern of purple, orange, and pink. Her black hair was tied to one side, and her large brown eyes watched them carefully. Despite her kind appearance, she held herself with the poise of a trained combatant.
Beside her was Siris, a tall woman with long black hair featuring a dark blue tint and brown eyes. Her hair was styled in five thin ponytails held up by a golden ornate accessory. Unlike Karlamine, her massive Zweihänder sword rested casually over her shoulder despite its enormous size.
Then came Ni and Li—twin catgirls in stripperific sailor uniforms. Being twins, they sported similar appearances, with the major difference being Ni's red eyes and blue hair tied in a ponytail, in contrast to Li's blue eyes and red hair styled in a braid with a pink bow. Their cat ears twitched as they grinned in unison.
And finally, standing slightly apart from the others, was Ravel Phenex.
Riser's younger sister was a beautiful young girl with dark blue eyes and long blonde hair tied into elaborate twin-drill-style twintails, held in place by blue ribbons. Several bangs hung over her forehead, with a distinctive V-shaped fringe over the bridge of her nose. Despite her young appearance and small stature, she carried herself with the pride and confidence of Phoenix nobility. Her outfit was an elaborate pink and white dress that screamed "princess," complete with frills and ribbons.
Seven of Riser's remaining pieces, all standing between them and the new school building.
Karlamine drew her broadsword, the blade immediately erupting with flames. "I hope you're ready, Knight of Rias Gremory. I would avenge Siris!"
Yuuto's lips curved into a smirk. Green energy swirled around him as dozens of swords began materializing in the air "Actually, this works out perfectly."
"Hm?" Karlamine raised an eyebrow.
"I was worried I'd have to hunt you all down individually," Yuuto said, his smirk widening into something almost predatory. "But since you've all gathered in one place..." More swords appeared, until nearly fifty blades of various shapes and sizes floated behind him "This'll save me a lot of time."
Ravel's eyes widened as she took in the sheer number of swords "That's... how can he create so many of them, at once?!"
Siris gripped her Zweihänder tighter "What kind of Sacred Gear is that?!"
"Well, it's called Sword Birth" Yuuto said calmly, with a shrug "But it won't change anything, would it?"
The swords began to orbit around him, picking up speed, creating a vortex of gleaming blades that caught the artificial sunlight.
"Koneko-chan," Yuuto said to little Nekoshou, who turned to him.
"Hm?"
"She's all yours"
"Hm." Koneko stepped forward, golden aura beginning to swirl around her small frame as she controlled her breathing to tap into her Mist Breathing Fighting stance "Understood."
Isabela grinned, dropping into a fighting stance "Finally, a real challenge"
The two Rooks charged at each other, and the sound of their collision was like thunder.
Karlamine raised her flaming sword "Everyone, attack together!"
Yuuto moved.
One moment he was standing still; the next, he was gone—a blur of motion enhanced by his Knight speed. Twenty swords shot forward in a coordinated assault, each blade aimed at a different target.
Karlamine barely managed to parry three swords with her flaming blade, the force of the impacts pushing her back several steps. Siris swung her massive Zweihänder, deflecting five more swords with raw strength, but the sheer number forced her on the defensive.
Mihae erected a magical barrier, but three swords pierced through it like Kakashi's hand through Rin, forcing her to dodge desperately. Ni and Li moved with feline grace, but even their enhanced pawn speed wasn't enough—two swords caught Ni's shoulder and Li's leg, drawing blood and making them cry out.
"Impossible" Siris breathed, her arms trembling from blocking the assault "This speed, this power... you're just a Knight!"
Yuuto took a deep breath, his expression shifting to something far more focused. The air around him began to change—cyan-and-white mist started forming at his feet, spreading outward in thin, ethereal tendrils that obscured his lower body.
"Mist Breathing," he said calmly.
*First Form: Low Clouds, Distant Haze*
In an instant, Yuuto lunged forward at speeds that made his earlier Knight velocity look pedestrian walk. It was a singular, powerful thrust attack delivered with such speed that Siris barely registered his movement before his blade had already pierced through her armor's weak point.
Siris's eyes widened "W-What?—"
She vanished in a flash of light before she could finish.
*One Knight of Riser Phenex has been eliminated*
The cyan mist thickened, spreading across the entire courtyard like a living serpent. Mihae erected multiple magical barriers, trying to locate Yuuto through the obscuring haze, but the mist seemed to swallow all sight.
"Where is he?!" Mihae shouted, panic creeping into her voice "I can't see him anywhere!"
*Second Form: Eight-Layered Mist*
Yuuto appeared directly in front of her, but before Mihae could react, he delivered eight consecutive slashes, each one layered perfectly on top of the other in rapid succession. The speed was so intense it looked like a single strike, but the damage was eight-fold.
Mihae's barriers shattered like glass. She vanished in a flash of light.
*One Bishop of Riser Phenex has been eliminated*
Ni and Li exchanged terrified glances, their cat instincts screaming at them to flee. They turned to run, but the mist had spread too far, completely disorienting them.
*Third Form: Scattering Mist Splash*
Yuuto performed a powerful, swift circular slash that generated a vortex of cyan mist. The rotating attack caught both catgirls mid-retreat, the force of the technique sending them flying. Before they could recover, the follow-up slashes eliminated them both.
""Eyyahh~~""
'Who the hell screams like that on getting slashed?'
*Two Pawns of Riser Phenex have been eliminated*
The mist began to thin slightly, revealing Yuuto standing in the center of the courtyard, his sword held in a relaxed guard. Four of Riser's pieces eliminated in less than 20 seconds. His breathing was still perfectly controlled—calm, measured, efficient.
Karlamine stared at him, her flaming sword trembling slightly in her grip "That technique... I've never seen anything like it. What kind of sword style is that?"
"Mist Breathing" Yuuto said simply "A technique that yours truly have created. Now then, Karlamine, shall we have that battle of honor you wanted?"
Karlamine's grip tightened on her sword. Despite the obvious fear in her eyes, she raised her blade in proper knight's form. Her pride wouldn't allow her to run.
Yuuto said, genuine 'respect' in his voice "You have my respect, Karlamine for not using Secret Joestar Technique. So, I'll make this quick."
He shifted his stance, taking a low position. Mist coiled around his legs like living serpents.
"Fourth Form: Shifting Flow Slash."
Yuuto dashed toward Karlamine from his lowered stance, moving so fast he seemed to flow like water. Karlamine swung her flaming sword in a wide arc, but Yuuto was already past her guard, his blade singing through the air.
Their swords clashed—once, twice, three times in rapid succession. Despite her skill, Karlamine was being pushed back. The Mist Breathing technique wasn't just about speed; it was about unpredictability, about movements that seemed to shift and flow impossibly.
"You're strong" Yuuto said as their blades locked for a brief moment. "But this ends now"
He created a new sword through Sword Birth—this one radiating intense cold, frost forming along its edge.
*Flame Delete*
The ice sword swung at Karlamine's flaming blade. The moment they connected, frost spread rapidly across her weapon like a plague, extinguishing the flames instantly and freezing the steel solid.
Crack!
Karlamine's eyes widened in horror as her prized sword shattered into countless crystalline fragments.
Before Karlamine could even process losing her weapon, Yuuto met her charge head-on, his created swords dancing around him in perfect synchronization, and piercing through the knight of Riser's Knight.
*Knight of Riser Phenex has been eliminated*
Ravel Phenex remained, having backed away during the fight. She stared at Yuuto with wide, frightened eyes, her earlier princess-like confidence completely shattered.
"You..." Her voice trembled "You're a monster!!!"
"Well, that hurts" Yuuto said, dismissing most of his swords but keeping a dozen floating lazily around him "I'm just a humble knight who is taking his job seriously." He took a step toward her "Now then, Ravel-san, would you like to have a taste of my sword as well?"
Ravel took a step back, her wings of fire materializing behind her "Stay away from me!"
Yuuto said, his voice gentler now "If you cry like that, I won't hurt you. You're clearly not a combatant. So just forfeit, will ya?"
Ravel bit her lip, her face flushing "But don't think you can win this Rating Game! I'll never serve as a servant to you!!!"
Yuuto blinked "Excuse me?"
"I didn't agree to it!" Ravel said quickly, her words tumbling out. "Riser-niisama made the wager without asking me! He said it would be honorable for both sides! But now you're... you're..." She gestured helplessly at the devastation around them "You've eliminated everyone! And the way you fight, it's terrifying! But you won't still be able to defeat Riser-niisama!!!"
Despite the situation, Yuuto couldn't help but laugh "So you're saying your brother will be winning this, even after you saw what I just did?"
"Yes!" Ravel's face was bright red now, torn between indignation and fear.
"Ignorance is Indeed bliss..." Yuuto shook his head with a sigh.
He dismissed the remaining swords, holding up his hands in a peaceful gesture "Look, Ravel-san. I'm not going to hurt you. And when Rias wins, you better talk out the wager situation then. But right now, you need to forfeit."
Ravel looked at him suspiciously "You're... not going to attack me?"
"You're unarmed, clearly not good in fighting, and you're only here because your arrogant brother dragged you into this" Yuuto shrugged "What kind of person would I be if I attacked someone helpless like you?"
"Your brother might enjoy the helplessness of others, I don't"
Ravel stared at him for a long moment, then slowly, hesitantly, she nodded. "I... I forfeit"
She vanished in a flash of light.
*Bishop of Riser Phenex has been eliminated*
Yuuto let out a sigh, rolling his shoulders. He glanced over to where Koneko was fighting Isabela—the two Rooks were still going at it, trading powerful blows that cratered the ground. Koneko had the upper hand, her training clearly paying off as she broke down Isabela's defense.
As he watched, Koneko landed a devastating uppercut that sent Isabela flying. The masked Rook hit the ground hard and didn't get up.
*Rook of Riser Phenex has been eliminated*
Koneko walked over to Yuuto, dusting off her hands "Done"
"Good work." Yuuto looked up at the new school building looming ahead of them "Now there's just—"
A massive explosion of flames erupted from the rooftop, painting the sky orange and red.
Through his communicator, he heard Rias's strained voice along with the desperate one of Asia.
The transmission cut off.
---
The rooftop was a warzone.
Scorch marks covered every surface, flames dancing across the concrete and metal. Rias knelt on the ground, her crimson hair disheveled, her uniform torn and burnt. Blood trickled from a cut on her arm. Behind her, Asia was barely conscious, her healing magic flickering weakly as she tried to keep Rias stable.
Riser Phenex, stood away in front of them, wreathed in flames and wearing a triumphant smirk. His orange-blonde hair billowed in the heat waves rising from his body, his expensive suit somehow still immaculate despite the destruction around him.
"Give up already" Riser said, his voice dripping with arrogance.
"Never" Rias spat, trying to summon her Power of Destruction, but her magic reserves were close to depletion "I won't... I won't marry you..."
Riser laughed "You don't have a choice anymore. Even your peerage won't be a challenge to the Great Phenex" He raised his hand, flames covering around his palm "Now then, let's end this little farce so we can move on to the wedding preparations"
"This is your loss, Rias"
He launched a giant fireball at Rias, but before it could reach both girls, it was interrupted by a loud resounding explosion in between them.
CRASH!
The rooftop exploded.
Not from Riser's flames—from something else entirely. A massive shockwave of demonic energy slammed into the center of the roof, cratering the concrete and sending debris flying in all directions. The force was so intense that Riser was blown backward, his flames sputtering.
And standing in the newly formed crater, positioned directly between Riser and Rias, was a figure wreathed in darkness.
Black marks spread across his forehead in tribal patterns. His demonic aura exploded outward in waves of crimson and black that made the air itself seem to distort and ripple.
Dark armor formed around him - a ragged, high-collared coat that billowed despite the lack of wind, wristbands on his forearms that pulsed with barely contained power. The very atmosphere seemed heavier, darker, as if reality was struggling to contain the sheer concentration of demonic energy radiating from his body.
When he opened his eyes, they glowed with an eerie merciless intent.
In his right hand, he gripped a sword unlike anything they'd ever seen—Lostvayne. Its white hilt ended in two spherical pommels, and the blade itself seemed to shimmer with supernatural power, as if it existed slightly out of phase with normal reality.
"Who decided that?"
The voice was Yuuto's, but deeper, darker laced with something primal and terrifying.
Riser stumbled back a little, his eyes wide with shock "You... what the hell are you?"
Rias stared up at her Knight, her mouth falling open "Yuuto..."
Asia's eyes were wide as saucers "Yuuto-san... you're..."
Yuuto—no, this was something beyond the Knight they knew—tilted his head slightly, a cold smile playing on his lips. The demonic aura around him pulsed stronger, and the rooftop cracked further under the pressure.
He took a step forward. The concrete beneath his foot shattered.
Riser's flames flickered uncertainly. For the first time since the Rating Game began, genuine fear crossed his face.
"This is impossible," Riser stepped back slightly "A Knight can't have this much power. This kind of demonic energy... it's on par with..."
Yuuto smirked as he held Lostvayne in front of him. The tribal marks on his forehead pulsed with dark light, as purple flames enveloped Lostvayne as he gave mental command : Enchant Hellblaze.
"Ultimate Class Devil"
The demonic aura exploded outward again, and as Yuuto rose above the rooftop with his demonic wings looking down at Riser.
Behind Yuuto, Rias and Asia could only stare in shock and awe at the transformation of the Knight they thought they knew.
And in front of him, Riser Phenex—the supposedly immortal Phoenix, the arrogant heir of the Phenex clan, rose to the sky with a pair of fiery wings smirking arrogantly as if it was all just a facade by Yuuto, which won't be for too long.
The Rating Game was far from being over.
