Chapter 17 - Chapter Sixteen.

By frequently changing direction and flying in a zigzag pattern, Shinden continued to guide Godzilla toward the Sea God Fleet off the coast of Sagami Bay, matching Godzilla's speed. At Yukikaze Bridge, Hotta gave the following instructions.

"First unit, please send out. We'll go as planned for a while."

While his subordinates repeated that everything was on schedule, the first pair, Yuukaze and Keyaki, ran alongside and ran straight into Godzilla. Shinden, which was heading straight in that direction, flew up and flew between the two ships.

Godzilla was swimming when he noticed Yuukaze and Keyaki rushing towards him. At that moment, the bombardment of Takao came back to Godzilla's mind. Godzilla's dorsal fins began to rise one by one while glowing blue. Noda, who was watching from the bridge of Yukikaze, muttered.

"Good!"

The light from the dorsal fin ran up Godzilla's back to his head, and blue light began to gather around its mouth. At that time, a mysterious scene spread out on the bridge of the ship in the evening breeze.

In the center of the bridge, where no one was around, the rudder, which was tied tightly with ropes, was swaying slightly. Ahead, Godzilla is covered in blue light. That's right, there isn't even a single crew member onboard Yuukaze and Keyaki right now.

With fixed rudders, the two ships were moving towards Godzilla. Godzilla's dorsal fin shrank and a bluish-white light erupted from his mouth towards the two ships. It was the return of the heat rays that spewed out from Ginza. Both ships instantly turned into pure white fireballs, and immediately after that, a powerful explosion occurred, vaporizing the entire sea in the area.

The shock wave from that hit Yukikaze and Hibiki who were at the rear of the two ships, and the crew members of Yukaze and Keyaki who were on board the ship were almost blown away.

Everyone desperately clung to the ship's structures and survived the shock wave. Then, a huge wave caused by the explosion crashed onto Yukikaze and Hibiki. By pointing their bows directly towards the explosion, the two ships managed to overcome the tsunami caused by Godzilla.

Everyone on the Yukikaze Bridge had lost their voices. The man who saw Godzilla's heat beam in Ginza couldn't be alive here. Only Noda and Akitsu had ever seen the heat beam that destroyed Takao.

Everyone just stared in front of them, as if they were devastated by the intensity of Godzilla's heat rays.

"This is...Godzilla's heat rays"

One of the crew members, who finally came to his senses after hearing Hotta's murmurings, shouted in a voice that sounded like he was crying.

"This is far beyond what we expected. Captain! I recommend an immediate evacuation of all ships."

Noda strongly denied this.

"No, this is fine. Please start the operation immediately."

"But when will the heat rays come again?"

Ignoring the frightened and trembling crew members, Noda yelled at Captain Hotta.

"As I told you, we can't release the second wave of that heat ray right away. It's now! Make up your mind."

Hotta finally calmed down and nodded at those words.

"Start Operation Sea God"

Huge cylinders of Toyo balloons were dumped into the sea one after another from the rear decks of the two ships headed for Godzilla. They were connected to a cable stretched between two ships. Leaving a white trail behind them, about a dozen cylinders move through the sea as if they were being pulled by two ships.

The two ships proceeded to circle around Godzilla.

Sandwiched between destroyers on both sides, Godzilla first raised his upper body above the sea and changed the direction of his body, intending to pounce on the snowy winds.

He was quickly grazed by Shinden while firing a 30mm cannon. This time, Godzilla stretched out his body as if he was going to pounce on Shinden. Shinden dodged him, flashing.

On board the Yukikaze, I continued to send out cables along her crane, grateful that Shinden was acting as a decoy. The cylinders and cables that were laid out in a large circle now need to be covered.

In order to do this, a special crane was installed at the rear of Yukikaze.

The plan was to have Hibiki pass under the cables that had been lifted up by a crane so that the cables would cross. Hotta calmly steered the ship. The crane that could be installed on the ship was not that big. Hibiki would have to go around it to the side to get through.

"Notify Hibiki, fix the rudder, steer at 4 degrees."

Hibiki rushed towards Yukikaze, almost hitting her. If there was a slight misalignment, the two ships would collide head-on. Hibiki rushes straight towards me. It seemed like they would collide head-on with Yukikaze, but Hotta's many years of intuition told him that this was the right decision.

"Good interlocking!"

"Hibiki approach, 20 meters, 10 meters, 5 meters."

Hotta shouted.

"I don't mind some damage. Just leave Hibiki alone! Prepare for a full-ship impact!"

Yukikaze and Hibiki intersected as if rubbing against the ship's hull. As the ship's interior vibrated violently due to the impact, Hibiki barely managed to pass under the cable lifted by a special crane.

"Crossing completed!"

With a declaration from the deck workers, the cables crossed beautifully. All that's left to do is shrink the loop made of cable and wrap it tightly around Godzilla's body.

The two ships continued to shorten the cable ring at maximum speed.

Noda came out from the bridge to the wing and checked the situation.

"Good! Good!"

As the circle gradually narrowed, Godzilla noticed the cable. Godzilla didn't understand what that meant, but he seemed to instinctively understand that it was something troublesome.

And enough time had passed since the first heat ray. Godzilla's dorsal fins began to protrude from the tip of his tail one after another, glowing blue.

"Bad"

When Noda looked up at the cable, he saw that it was almost time for the cable to wrap around itself. The light from Godzilla's dorsal fin finally reached its head, and blue light began to accumulate around Godzilla's mouth.

A moment that felt extremely long passed slowly. Akitsu has already touched the activation switch installed inside the Yukikaze bridge. Godzilla arched his body and was ready to fire a heat ray. At that moment, the cable of the special crane became taut. The wrapping is complete.

"Cho-san, switch!"

Akitsu answered Noda's voice.

"Tee!"

Several 6cm cannonballs hanging from the cylinder exploded beneath Godzilla's feet, creating a huge cavity. Godzilla fell into that space with a thud. Freon gas bubbles spewed out all at once from the nozzles of the ten cylinders wrapped around his body.

Godzilla's body gained momentum, was isolated from the seawater by a large amount of bubbles, lost its buoyancy, and sank with tremendous force, sliding toward the depths of the ocean.

Shikishima, who was looking down on the situation from an electric shockwave in the sky, saw that the plan to sink Godzilla with a fluorocarbon cylinder had been an unparalleled success.

"We did it!"

Depth readings continued by the deck lifeguard.

"Depth 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500!"

The depth meter suddenly exceeded the target depth.

"Target depth reached!"

The fluorocarbon cylinder was emptied in the deep sea, and the eruption of air bubbles had ceased.

At that moment, intense water pressure suddenly attacked Godzilla's entire body. The body was tightened due to the intense water pressure, and the dorsal fin, which had been shining blue, lost its light. On the side of the Yukikaze, the crew members were watching the situation with bated breath.

The cable remained stopped.

The sound of the waves hitting the side of the ship was so peaceful that it felt out of place. One of the deckhands declared to Noda, Akitsu, and Hotta who had come out to the wing.

"Godzilla... has fallen silent!"

Akitsu muttered in disbelief.

"Did we do it?"

Immediately after, the cable swung from side to side while making a crunching sound. The force caused Yukikaze to shake violently, forcing the crew members to struggle to maintain their balance. Godzilla is still alive under extremely high pressure.

"You bastard!"

"It won't be that easy. We'll move on to preliminary operations."

Noda pressed the switch on the flotation device. The explosive flotation devices stored at the top of the cylinder each unfolded like a beautiful flower. Ultra-high pressure gas was injected into the balloon, which was 10 meters long and resembled a rubber boat, using the power of gunpowder.
