Chapter 85 - Chapter 85 — Are You Trying to Make My Future Dragon King Do a One-Card FTK or What?

After receiving the Field Spell, You Ye stepped out of the duel room and handed Tian Nan the decklist and all the combo formulas.

Tian Nan immediately tested it in Master Duel, playing seven or eight matches.

In the first two games, he still needed You Ye's guidance.

But afterward, he displayed the learning ability worthy of a King Road Duelist — maybe not fully intuitive, but he could already flexibly use every combo formula.

When he exited Master Duel, he wore a satisfied grin from ear to ear, extremely pleased with the strength of Cyberse Goodstuff.

Compared to him, Tian Yingye was silent.

She was only an Earth-Rank Duelist — Link–5 and Link–6 bosses from non-native archetypes, plus an entire Field… she definitely couldn't assemble it anytime soon.

After Tian Nan repeatedly promised Yuye that he would help him obtain the Code Talker Field in the future, he left with Tian Yingye — clearly eager to go home and build Cyberse Goodstuff.

That afternoon, Bai Lingtian arrived at the shop.

"Senior, I sincerely apologize. I should've come this morning, but Yuner found traces of the Tenyi Field, so I was delayed."

The moment he entered, Bai Lingtian bowed apologetically.

You Ye waved him off.

"It's fine. I was busy all morning anyway. If you came earlier, I wouldn't have had any quiet time to slack off."

In reality, Tian Nan and the others had left around ten o'clock. After resting and eating, it was already afternoon.

Speaking of food, Ouyang Yanyan had cooked today: four dishes and a soup, quite tasty.

Combined with her help managing the shop all morning, You Ye finally admitted that Muning's suggestion had been correct —

Having a household helper was really convenient.

Though her duel ability and knowledge were still lacking, with some "training," she'd eventually reach the point where Yuye could say that sentence he had long prepared:

"I choose you, Ouyang Yanyan~."

"Thank you for your forgiveness, Senior. This is the payment my family offers you for modifying our decklist. Please accept it."

Bai Lingtian exhaled in relief when he saw You Ye truly wasn't angry.

He carefully handed over a golden card protected by crystal sleeves.

"A single card?"

You Ye's expression brightened.

Given how deck modification prices had become standardized, getting one card as payment meant it was definitely a semi-limited or critically valuable card.

He flipped it over.

"Terraforming? You Bai family really is generous!"

"Besides helping with the Blue-Eyes build… You need something else?"

Receiving the card, You Ye shot him a surprised look.

Terraforming was a universal Field Spell searcher — nearly every deck that ran a Field could use it.

It was worth far more than the value of simply modifying a decklist.

"No… It's just that our family can't use it, and we can't safely trade it either."

Bai Lingtian smiled bitterly.

That was the weakness of large clans:

If they found a card that didn't suit their own Field, they couldn't use it…

But they also couldn't spread the news — or countless major powers would descend upon the clan, exerting pressure until the Bai family was squeezed dry.

Not everyone was like You Ye, who, after a few days of prominence, immediately earned the goodwill of both the Inspection Bureau and the Duel Association.

"I see…" You Ye nodded and began thinking.

The Bai family had always treated him kindly.

Now that he wasn't hurting for resources, receiving such a valuable card in exchange for a simple Blue-Eyes deck modification felt a little too lopsided.

After thinking for a moment, he took two golden cards out of his coat.

"These two — Infinite Impermanence and Effect Veiler — help me safeguard them on behalf of your Bai family.

I only want 70% of the revenue."

—HSSS!! Impermanence? Veiler? And you only want seventy percent?!"

Bai Lingtian froze, then trembled with excitement instead of horror.

It wasn't that You Ye asked too much — it was that he offered too little.

Both Veiler and Impermanence were powerful hand traps, yet their original versions weren't too difficult for Earth-Rank duelists to obtain — the problem was that all existing originals were monopolized by the strongest clans and factions.

An ordinary Earth-Rank duelist couldn't get even one.

Now that You Ye was entrusting the Bai family with these?

If they spread the news, at least tens of thousands of Earth-Rank (and even some Heaven-Rank) duelists would seek out the Bai family to communicate with the card spirits.

And they didn't have to fear robbery — not now that both the Inspection Bureau and Duel Association were publicly backing Yuye.

His only concern was—

Can the Bai family even hold onto 30% of the profits?

After thinking it through, Bai Lingtian bowed deeply.

"No, no, no! My Bai family isn't worthy of thirty percent.

Ten percent! Ten percent is more than enough!"

He quickly clarified:

"Senior, you may not know how many duelists desperately need these two hand traps.

At least ten thousand Earth-Rank duelists will come.

That ten percent could equal two or three years of the Bai family's revenue — in a single month."

"…Alright then."

Seeing how earnest he was, You Ye accepted the lowered rate.

He handed Bai Lingtian the updated Blue-Eyes decklist and described several combo lines.

"Rank 8 Graviton Dragon plus Number 38: Hope Harbinger for a finishing blow?

You can do that?"

Bai Lingtian couldn't help gasping.

With this combo, Blue-Eyes gained a whole new layer of lethality.

It was a pity that the environment had evolved past the point where the Blue-Eyes Field could keep up.

If their ancestors had known these combos earlier, their clan might have produced a King Road duelist.

But even so, it was a major power-up. He bowed again.

"Thank you, Senior."

"It's nothing," You Ye replied casually.

They talked for a while longer — mostly about Bai Yuner's hunt for the Tenyi Field.

From You Ye's perspective, he learned that Yuner wasn't searching for duelists, but for spirits.

Last night, rumors from Haishi said someone had encountered a spirit resembling a Tenyi Monk.

This morning, the rumors were confirmed, so Bai Yuner rushed there to attempt communication — hopefully obtaining the Tenyi Field.

After offering his final thanks, Bai Lingtian departed.

Not long after, Luo Hao arrived.

He came to ask what You Ye planned to do with the Zeng family's territory — sell it, or keep it?

He also hinted that if sold, the Duel Association would purchase it at a premium.

It would become a long-term residence for the Silver Princess.

Since he phrased it that way, You Ye had no objections.

He had, at most, two people and a single spirit.

The Zeng family's territory was larger than a pre-crossing town.

There was no point in keeping such a massive place.

And in the future, You Ye could purchase any land he wanted.

He'd be living in the Spirit Realm most of the time anyway — the human world was dull compared to it.

The transaction concluded, Luo Hao left, and no more notable visitors appeared.

That night, You Ye returned home with Muning.

When they opened the door—

A girl was calmly drinking tea in the living room.

She was pale and beautiful, dressed in a black one-piece dress with a black hairpin.

At her side leaned a ghostly dragon-like spirit.

Compared to the tea-drinking girl, Muning reacted instantly — she stepped in front of You Ye, her face tense and grim, as though facing something truly terrifying.

The girl noticed and raised her eyes.

The moment her gaze swept across the room, landing on Muning—

Muning felt as though a gray, dead world was reaching out to pull her in.

Her entire being screamed at her to run.

Just as she prepared to attack — forcibly initiating a duel to give Yuye time to escape—

You Ye's voice cut through the tension.

"Relax. She's one of us."

He stepped forward, exasperated.

"Xiaoyue, what are you doing here? Where's Eryss?"

At Yuye's words, the crushing pressure vanished instantly.

Muning blinked, stunned.

When did You Ye meet this one?

And how did she not know?

The girl smiled slightly.

"Brother-in-law, didn't you plan to contact the Egyptian Gods?

My sister said you were already a Mysterious Rank, strong enough to summon yourself here with some effort.

So I came to back you up — so the Three Gods would know you're one of ours."

"As for my sister, she went to First Abyss to find the Water Spirit Maiden.

She said some Evil Gods have been restless lately, pulling people into Dark Duels, so she wants to build that deck you mentioned — something about Nether-Rending Tearlaments — to keep them quiet for a while."

She sipped her tea while explaining.

You Ye nodded casually.

But Muning was completely confused.

Egyptian Gods?

This girl calls You Ye brother-in-law?

Then she's his wife's sister?

You Ye did have a future wife — the Water Spirit Maiden — but her younger sister should be Tearlaments Maidel, or Meiru, or one of the lower-level Tearlaments…

Not this mysterious, terrifying existence.

Something didn't add up.

You Ye… isn't your wife the Water Spirit Maiden?" Muning asked.

"She will be. Not yet," You Ye answered without hesitation.

The girl pouted.

"Brother-in-law, you dare talk about marrying other spirits in front of me? Aren't you afraid I'll tell my sister?"

"Not afraid. I already told her — she knows and agreed."

"Hmph! Then, how about letting one more join?

I know a beautiful spirit who's been fond of you for a very, very long time.

She'd be perfect for you."

"No."

"You don't even know who I'm talking about!"

"I know. You're talking about yourself."

"HMMPH! That's the 666th time you rejected me!"

She puffed up her cheeks dramatically — the kind of expression begging to be comforted.

You Ye sighed, sat next to her, and pulled her into his arms.

"Come here, silly girl."

In his embrace, the girl's face was pure bliss.

Muning stood in silence, unable to understand their relationship.

She quietly observed, trying to figure out this spirit's true identity.

After a while, You Ye introduced her:

"Her name is Moon of the Shackled Heavens.

You can call her Yue."

When he turned to introduce Muning, Yue giggled.

"No need, Brother-in-law. I know her — she's Muning of the Runick Field."

"Then why scare her?" You Ye flicked her forehead lightly.

"I wanted to test her — to see if your chosen spirit had good instincts."

She seemed quite pleased with Muning's reaction.

"No next time, or I will get mad."

You Ye pinched both her cheeks lightly as a warning.

She nodded obediently.

As a sister of a God of the Underworld — practically second in command of the Nether — she knew her limits well.

You Ye had allowed it only because they were worried, and he wanted to reassure them.

"How long can you maintain this form?" Yuye asked.

Her eyes glinted mischievously.

"What's wrong? Planning to take advantage of me while my sister's away?

Good chance, but you're too low-ranked.

You have maybe thirty minutes left."

Seeing You Ye's expression darken, she stopped teasing.

"Half an hour."

"…Can you come again tomorrow?"

"No. My rank is far too high. The rules restrict me heavily.

This brief projection will take a month to recover."

She sighed, eyes flicking enviously toward Muning.

If she were of a lower rank like Muning, she could stay by You Ye's side all the time.

But there were no "what ifs."

"Alright. Then I guess taking you out to play will have to wait."

Yuye wasn't surprised — summoning a God-rank spirit outside of a duel was unrealistic for someone who wasn't even Heaven-Rank.

"It's fine. Just visit us more often.

You haven't been around lately…"

She looked a bit aggrieved.

"I will. After this busy period."

He patted her head gently.

After comforting her for nearly ten minutes, Yue urged him to get to business.

Yuye finally took out the Obelisk's Sphere (the God Egg) and began communication.

He wouldn't wait to see Obelisk — he had a hunch he would meet him anyway.

A moment later—

He found himself standing inside a vast golden palace.

Magnificent, patterned like a grand Egyptian hall — but with four thrones, not one.

Three were normal-sized.

The last was enormous — larger than the other three combined.

Before he could observe further—

Blue, red, and gold pillars of light erupted from the first three thrones.

Their auras pressed down heavily, the kind of presence that made mortals and spirits alike want to kneel.

Ten seconds later, the pillars vanished.

The Egyptian God Trio took their seats.

Obelisk the Tormentor.

Slifer the Sky Dragon.

The Winged Dragon of Ra.

"You have come, Duelist."

Obelisk spoke first.

He glanced briefly at Yue, then fixed his gaze on Yuye.

"Yes. I heard you were looking for me?"

You Ye smiled calmly.

"Yes. I wanted you to be our representative among humans — but it seems another divine being has beaten us to it."

Obelisk looked regretfully toward Yue again.

Clearly, he assumed You Ye was already her chosen representative.

"Representative? Explain."

You Ye raised an eyebrow.

"You don't know?"

Obelisk looked genuinely surprised.

He scanned You Ye carefully — indeed, he sensed no divine "representative" aura.

Yet Yue was here, right beside him.

The trio exchanged confused looks, but when Yue said nothing, they assumed it was fine to proceed.

Obelisk explained:

"We God-rank spirits can allow a duelist to become our representative.

Some of the Dark Duelists you met — the strongest ones — are representatives of certain Gods.

Their connection lets them influence the world outside duels."

"I see. And what would I gain?"

You Ye asked directly — interested, but cautious.

Seeing Yue still silent, the Gods listed their benefits:

"Your body will strengthen. Opponents in duels will barely harm you."

"So… bulking me into a musclehead?"

"You can grow wings, fly, wield lightning, and become immune to it."

"Cool effects, but… how does that help in duels?"

"You can resurrect once a year."

"I already have protection from the Underworld Goddess.

Whether I die or not doesn't matter."

"…"

They went silent.

For most duelists, all three abilities were priceless.

For You Ye… they were useless.

"That's it?"

You Ye looked disappointed — even annoyed.

They exchanged glances, then decided they had to offer something heavier.

"One more thing — any non-evil spirit you communicate with will give you their card."

You Ye: "…"

This time, he was truly speechless.

Forget communication — with his reputation and win record, most spirits would beg to give him their cards.

Even Ra and Slifer didn't understand why he looked so unimpressed.

"This representative thing isn't for me.

Just give me the God Egg."

Hearing You Ye's disinterest, the Three Gods were visibly displeased.

They weren't used to mortals dismissing their offers.

Before they could question him, a voice echoed in their minds.

They stared at You Ye with strange expressions.

"Human Duelist… would you duel us?"

Slifer asked.

"Sure.

If I win, give me the original God Egg."

You Ye answered calmly.

It wasn't that he didn't want the other God Cards — but competitively, they were useless to him.

The God Egg, however, was good tech — a backup option for decks like Kashtira, Thunder, or Tearlaments when he needed additional field-breaking tools.

"Just the Egg?

You sound just like the duelists of your world."

The Gods weren't shocked.

Every high-ranked duelist who sought them only wanted the Egg.

Their other cards didn't fit competitive play.

"Of course.

What, do you want me to take all your cards and do a one-card Future Dragon King FTK?"

You Ye snorted.

"You… FTK with a single card?

Do you understand the meaning of your words?"

The Gods' calm was shattered instantly.

A true one-card automatic victory…

If such a combo existed, the Egyptian Gods could enter the highest competitive tier.

"I know what it means.

And yes — there really is a way to achieve that FTK."

You Ye replied without joking.

The Gods sucked in a breath.

As divine spirits, they could tell he wasn't lying.

They secretly resolved to ask him for that combo later.

As for Number F0: Utopic Draco Future (Future Dragon King)?

They knew it. Getting its card was trivial.

"But I'm curious," You Ye said.

"You Gods value strength.

So with your divine synergy, why not use Exodia the Forbidden One?

Instant win.

Doesn't synergy make it easier?"

Obelisk shook his head.

"It isn't about enmity.

Exodia has special restrictions — duelists and spirits alike cannot communicate with the deck if Exodia is included.

You must blind-draw everything."

Ra added:

"Few know this.

Yes, he grants automatic victory — but the rule penalty is too heavy.

Only pure luck allows first-turn assembly."

"So filtering FTKs works, but Bond-based draws won't."

You Ye understood instantly.

This eased his worries — after all, nothing could outmatch starting-hand Five-Card Exodia.

Human Duelist, Obelisk spoke.

One thing you must know.

To compensate for our lack of competitive power, duels against us begin at Turn 2 overall —

But for you, that is your Turn 1.

And you must face all three of us already on the field.

Do you accept?
