Chapter 13 - Wolf Den

"Oh shit"

Ian quickly climbed down the tree and started explaining the situation.

"There's a huge pack of dire wolves and the leader is the size of a truck."

Ty's eyes lit up at his words.

"Ooh! We're so lucky! This is perfect! We can totally handle this!"

"I'm sorry, handle this? I think it's time to retreat."

Jasmine cut in.

"No, we can do it! I'll keep the fodder busy and you guys kill the big guy."

Ty kept going.

"That actually could work. Let's do it! This is a great opportunity for growth."

Ian, hearing his plan, was inclined to agree. He just needed a bit of prep but it was doable.

After the battles with dire wolves throughout the plains Ian had grown to Lv.14. He had 12 stat points to invest and no better time than the present.

This is his status after upgrading and applying everything.

Arrow had also leveled up to level 12. Nothing much changed about him except his size.

After upgrading himself Ian reached into his pack. He had the poison from that bee thing he fought with Arrow.

"Be ready. After I shoot the big guy with this arrow the battle will start. This poison will give us a great advantage so we can definitely win."

Scrambling up the tree Ian hurriedly aimed at the wolf. He took a deep breath and activated his [Hawk Eyes] and [Weakness Detection]. Nocking the poisoned arrow Ian drew his bow.

Steadying his aim for a second he charged his arrow with mana. After a few seconds he let the arrow loose.

"Let's go!"

On the other side of the arrow the [Wolf King] was lounging in his den as usual. He was the area boss of the plains, a high silver level creature. Not very strong in the grand scheme if things, but around here he was the strongest.

A subtle hiss reverberated through the forest. A green streak cut through the air, hurtling toward the [Wolf King]. The monster quickly stood up and took the blow with its body. It turned to the source of the attack and howled loudly.

The wolf's cry echoed throughout the clearing. Every ear perked up at the boss's command. As the dire wolves stood loud laughing began to sound.

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

From above, a huge orc came falling onto the wolves with a great sword drawn. Ty came crashing down and landed directly on the wolves.

His great sword came swinging down with all of his momentum and body weight. Multiple wolves were cut and 3 died as his mighty slash came down.

From the nearby trees multiple arrows came raining down. Ian let go many shots but didn't charge them, saving his mana for the big one.

A magic circle appeared on the floor, it's green glow illuminating the moonlit clearing. Vines came sprouting from the ground entangling the wolves.

The [Wolf King] seeing his pack mates struggle jumped down from the rocks. The impact from his landing sent a weak shockwave out and stirred the wind.

As the white wolf turned to look at Ty, who had done the most damage, Ian nocked another poisoned arrow and began to charge it. From the tree he was on he steadied his aim for a few seconds, activating all his skills.

The wolf was almost upon Ty when a green streak shot out and struck its eye. The beast's head shot back as it's eye was impaled. It quickly turned to the source of the attack and let out a loud growl before diving toward Ian.

Jasmine hurriedly began to conjure more vines as the wolf approached. The wolf was assaulted by vines as it ran. It had to constantly slash at them to move forward.

The giant wolf bit and swiped at all the vines conjured by Jasmine as it moved closer. The vines did delay it, but not enough. Soon the silver rank monster would be upon them.

On the other side Ty was having a great time. Laughter boomed through the clearing as he ran around slaughtering dire wolves. Every time his sword moved an enemy was cut down.

Ian, taking the time bought by Jasmine to charge an arrow finally released it. A green streak flew at the wolf. The arrow flew alongside and covered by the vines Jasmine used to attack the wolf.

In the blink of an eye it reached its target and hit the wolf's neck. After taking the blow, the poison began to take effect. The wolf became noticeably slower and began to stagger in its movements.

Though slower, it kept reaching for Ian and Jasmine. The wolf kept running while swinging its claws wildly. A swing eventually got through.

A sliver level creature was a silver level creature. Slowed and wekened by poison or not, this beast was much stronger than both Ian and Jasmine.

Isn went flying toward a tree as the wolf's attack hit. The impact knocked the air straight out of Ian and he struggled to stand. Blood began to cover his vision when a healing glow enveloped him. Jasmine's spell taking effect as Ian stood up.

The burden on his body was definitely lessened but it was still there. Standing became harder than ever before not to mention drawing his bow. but there was no time to hesitate.

Ian quickly drew his bow and charged an attack. Jasmine, reacting quickly shifted her focus to the wolf. Her restraining spell began to flare again as vines wrapped around the wolf.

A green streak quickly reached its target and hit the wolf's other eye. The attack completely blinded the wolf and its head shot back in pain.

The vines began to take hold as the monster's defenses faltered. Vine wrapped around the wolf's neck, its legs, and body.

As the wolf was rendered prone by vines, Ian released a barrage of arrows. Multiple arrows stuck out of the monster's body and it looked to be on its last legs.

Relaxing a bit Ian and Jasmine approached the wolf. It just layed on the ground, wrapped in vines.

Just as they let their guard down it suddenly jumped up. Huge claws were coming down on Ian in the blink of an eye. He thought about dodging but there wasn't much time. In the end Ian decided to go in instead of backing off.

Ian brandished the knife Ron gave him and ducked into the wolf's swing. He plunged the knife in the wolf's neck and repeatedly stabbed until the knife broke.

Ian let out a sigh as the battle came to an end. Notifications began to flood his sight, but he closed them for now.

"Hoo! That was close. He almost got me with that last attack. I could've died there."

Jasmine came up from behind him.

"Yeah, guess we really can't let our guard down until the notification comes in."

"True, next time this won't happen at all. Now we know better."

The two then regrouped with Ty, who was still enjoying himself with the remnants of the dire wolves. They quickly finished them off and then began looting. The wolves fur and claws could be sold in the city.

Ian specifically took care when processing the [Wolf King]. It's fur was a bit damaged from all the arrows but a lot of it was salvageable. The claws on the other hand were pretty much in perfect condition.

"This will definitely make us a fortune!"
