Chapter 95: Acquiring the Prize!! 4-Star Larvitar!
Kenji smiled, embracing it, as Bellossom's status panel appeared before his eyes.
Bellossom (4-Star)
Sex: Female
Level: 23
Type: Grass
Base Stats: 670 (HP: 100, Attack: 110, Defense: 130, Sp. Atk: 125, Sp. Def: 135, Speed: 70)
Abilities: Healer, Solar Power
Moves: Quiver Dance, Petal Dance, Sleep Powder, Confuse Ray, Moonblast, Synthesis, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, Moonlight, Sweet Scent...
Potential: [ULTIMATE]
Kenji gasped, looking at Bellossom's panel. If he could swap her Healer ability for Chlorophyll, she'd become an unstoppable mobile cannon in sunlight.
However, Kenji quickly abandoned that idea.
He was surprised to discover that Bellossom's Healer and Solar Power—two seemingly unrelated abilities—had created a mysterious chemical reaction in his [ULTIMATE] potential Pokémon.
Just like Gyarados's Pressure and Intimidate combo, the result was a case of one plus one equaling far more than two.
His Bellossom's Healer ability, having broken through to [ULTIMATE] potential, seemed to have gained a boost. It could now not only heal its partners' status conditions but also continuously heal its own status and restore its stamina using sunlight.
Kenji discovered this by accident. The two small red flowers on Bellossom's head actually glowed in the sunlight, absorbing the energy.
Healer restored stamina, and Solar Power consumed stamina. The two effects, when combined, perfectly negated Solar Power's negative side effect.
Not only that, but Kenji had the bold idea of having Bellossom normalize Synthesis, just as Beedrill had normalized Quick Attack, to further increase the stamina recovery efficiency of its Healer ability.
If Beedrill could do it, then Bellossom, which also possessed [ULTIMATE] Potential, should theoretically be able to do it too.
If he could realize this idea, Bellossom would become a mage who bought full damage items and camped in the fountain.
Unless an opposing Pokémon could defeat Bellossom in an extremely short amount of time, it would stand in an unbeatable position under sunny weather.
The more Kenji thought about it, the more excited he became.
...
Days turned into weeks. For some reason, Bellossom was even more clingy than Arbok had been, following Kenji around like a shadow when she wasn't training.
Kenji didn't mind this too much. What Kenji found amusing was that his little Larvitar seemed to be developing a crush on the cute Bellossom.
Right now, it didn't seem too strange; the two Pokémon were similar in size.
But Bellossom was already in its final evolutionary stage, while Larvitar was only the first stage of Tyranitar.
And Tyranitar, the so-called "Desert Tyrant," would stand roughly six meters tall.
(The official Pokédex data is 2 meters, but Kenji thought that was a bit short, so he added a few meters.)
Six meters was about two stories high.
A Pokémon six meters tall versus a Pokémon only fifty centimeters tall.
Given that massive height difference, Kenji couldn't imagine what the two Pokémon would look like together. Bellossom would be barely the size of one of Tyranitar's toes.
Moreover, Pokémon of different Egg Groups had reproductive isolation. Bellossom and Larvitar were clearly not in the same Egg Group.
So, it was simply fated that Larvitar wouldn't have a chance in this life.
Kenji didn't tell Larvitar any of this. Even if he didn't mention it, judging by Bellossom's current situation, Larvitar probably wouldn't have a chance anyway.
...
The weeks went by. Two months had passed in the blink of an eye.
On this day, Larvitar stood obediently in front of Kenji, the Everstone still hanging from its neck.
Larvitar (3-Star)
Sex: Male
Level: LV.35
Type: Ground/Rock
Base Stats: 420 (HP: 70, Attack: 90, Defense: 70, Sp. Atk: 63, Sp. Def: 70, Speed: 57)
Abilities: Guts, Filter (Reduces the power of super-effective moves by 25%.)
Moves: Dragon Dance, Rock Slide, Stomping Tantrum, Iron Defense, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Screech, Crunch, Payback, Ancient Power, Pursuit, Protect, Sandstorm...
Potential: S
Two months had passed, and Larvitar's level had leaped to 35, five levels beyond the level 30 required for evolution.
During this time, Kenji had been steadily accumulating Gold and exchanging it for Secondary Hero Replicators.
Whenever he had enough "little Neekos" to Star Up, he would do so. Larvitar had now reached 3-Stars, its base stats hitting 420, and its potential, which started at B-Rank, had jumped to S-Rank.
It had also acquired its second ability: Filter.
Filter's effect was simple: it reduced the damage of super-effective moves by one-fourth.
This ability was perfectly suited for Tyranitar, which had a whopping seven weaknesses.
And today, Kenji had finally saved up enough "little Neekos" for Larvitar to reach 4-Stars.
He felt a deep sense of relief, like sailing a light boat past ten thousand mountains.
Thinking this, Kenji deftly synthesized the Secondary Hero Replicators in his system inventory.
In a moment, three 3-Star Larvitar appeared before Kenji.
Kenji had waited a long time for this moment.
When the Star Up system panel appeared, Kenji quickly selected 'Confirm.'
The familiar Star Up light flared, enveloping the three small Pokémon.
Two and a half minutes later...
Larvitar (4-Star)
...
Level: 39
Abilities: Guts, Filter
Base Stats: 480 (HP: 80, Attack: 103, Defense: 80, Sp. Atk: 72, Sp. Def: 80, Speed: 65)
Potential: S+
Looking at the 4-Star Larvitar before him, Kenji's heart swelled with satisfaction. He reached out and removed the Everstone pendant from Larvitar's neck.
