Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Intellectual Imbecile (1)

Sometimes one door closes.

Another door will be opened for us.

But what filters through is not necessarily light.

Sometimes I even find myself disgusting.

Every time I look in the mirror, a sense of weariness arises.

I sigh then put away the hand mirror.

My name is Ron Irus, well, it is Ron, and Irus is what I call myself.

I will register the surname as Irus if I am wealthy and famous enough later. Perhaps that is all.

I am 12 years old this year, but everyone in the Jinlus orphanage often calls me younger brother.

Whether they are only 10 years old, or already 17 years old, they all call me brother Ron.

That is very strange, but I usually do not pay much attention to it.

Because I am often cared for more by everyone, sometimes they say I am stupid and feeble minded so I need help.

I think that is wrong, because the teacher said that everyone will have their own intelligence, and everyone should eventually follow that.

But I am not smart, my grades are very bad, I am not good at physical activity because I am very weak, I am not good at art because I find it very boring.

I look at the sunbeams piercing through the curtains at the window. I am in a room full of colors, colored blocks of yellow and blue stacked on top of each other.

Toys are surrounding me, or rather I put them there, I want to feel like a superhero facing a pack of beasts.

"Brrrr".

"Bratu!~"

"Hey Ron, go outside and play".

Bratu, a boy in the orphanage, greets me from outside the window, how strange, how does he know I am on the 2nd floor to call?

"I know".

I shout once then run down the stairs, however in my sight green and purple colors along with yellow keep appearing and blending together.

That normal staircase that I walk every day, that monotonous reddish brown color now no longer remains a boring color.

With every step down the stairs, a ribbon of color surrounds me like a cloak.

And then those colors suddenly coil together into black, I am wearing a pure black cloak, it feels wonderful.

But when I step down to the final step, it turns snow white, then tightens into a pure white suit.

I see it, but when I step onto the threshold, everything goes dark, then returns to its original state.

I do not mind that much, because I seem to have grown used to this.

"I am here, I am here!"

I run straight through the play area, but then I suddenly see Lunas, the brother 2 years older than me but with an incredible height, 1.8 meters.

He along with a few other children and Bratu are whispering something, then when they hear my sound they turn back.

"...Oh Ron".

Lunas scratches his head then looks at me and looks at the paper in his hand.

"What is that?"

I ask, while Lunas whispers a few things to the children then shakes his head looking at me.

"There has been a report about you, do you remember the tests a few days ago?"

I nod repeatedly. Then the gazes of the others become increasingly strange with every word that comes from Lunas.

"IQ Index: 112

No psychological illnesses.

No mental illnesses.

Body: Normal, currently in late puberty stage."

Even though Bratu and the others were prepared, this was still too difficult to understand.

"Vecic, what do you think? Did that guy cheat?"

"Do you think he is smart enough to do that? No, are you smart enough to say that, John?"

"Damn it, if cheating could work then I would have an IQ of 200 instead of being here."

The statements keep passing from one person to another, while Lunas looks at me and says he will ask the director.

As for me, I jump for joy, because from now on they can no longer call me a stupid person.

I am currently reading the book 'The Unkinged Master'.

Roughly, this is a book about the death and consequences of a monarch and the subsequent decline of a generation.

I like it very much. And I often read it in the classroom when everyone goes out to play.

Suddenly I see a strange figure at the classroom door.

That person has a strong perfume scent of guava and grape, a type of perfume that even standing 10 meters away one would have to cover their nose.

That person has blue black hair styled swept back, an arrogant extravagance flickering in those eyes.

The hands, though showing veins rising in the shadow, are not calloused at all.

On the contrary, the soft curves on his hands show they are cared for quite well.

The outfit is a suit that looks simple but the embroidery on the fabric is done randomly yet invisibly creates a light blue octagonal symbol.

An aristocrat. Ron thinks.

The figure with light blue black hair looks at me then shakes his head, his face like a Shisa dog raised by the orphanage.

When that figure leaves, I immediately stand up and follow, because whenever I follow the teachers, they usually laugh and give me candy to eat.

I follow him to a long hallway. I tremble slightly, because the hallway is flooded with sunlight, because this is the path to the director.

I am always afraid of Mr. Haller, the director, because he always hits me whenever he has the chance.

But I say to my heart 'Do not be afraid', I will stand up again just like when I fell down the stairs.

I run straight to the door of the room, where only a part of the light is peeking through.

Inside there, two different people are arguing continuously, as if about to kill each other.

One voice is of old Haller, one voice of the stranger.

I hide by the edge of the door, waiting for something. But then a world shaking sound hits my ears making me cover my head.

"You bastard!!! He is just a child, A CHILD WHO JUST AWAKENED THE CORE. Please, he will die!"

"I did not tell him to go die! I said I want her, Emma, to be my adopted daughter, and she will be protected under the Crystal family."

"Then how is it different!? She will be forced onto the battlefield, then die!"

"She will die because of YOUR IGNORANCE FIRST!!!!"

"You guys are the ones resolving the hostilities at Agler city, get back there!! The last time I was a soldier, you generals were still busy playing with girls and fucking slaves in the mansion in the middle of the army!".

"And without us, this country would have died long ago! So shut up!"

"You dog, you only see humans as tools! This world would be so peaceful if you Elites did not exist, Five Fingers or Circle or whatever are just bastards shitting on the people's heads!"

"It is precisely because of feeble minded people like you that you can use morality to define yourselves! You humans are not smart enough or backed enough to escape that logic! Just drown in ignorance, you ORPHANAGE director!"

To congratulate someone leaving the orphanage, we usually hold a party to say goodbye to them.

The day they leave will also be a birthday for them, separate from the birthday when they were admitted to the orphanage.

And at the dining room of the orphanage, about 30 people are sitting waiting on the pure white dining table waiting for the 2 most important people to arrive.

Since this is only a small orphanage, there are only about 5 people who are helpers cum teachers cum nannies, and they are busy bringing out food.

But then even when the food has turned cold, there is still no sign of the director and Emma.

"...Excuse me, I need to go for a bit."

Lunas is a bit restless then stands up to go to the restroom, but I guess it is not so.

It is just, well, I do not think I should think.

Today is a happy day, right? And we should focus on the candle on the cake rather than other things.

And has anyone ever said that when we focus on a flame, it becomes that large?

How strange, that day the moon was too bizarre.

It was like a human coiling up in a blood red eyeball, then each nerve coiling together like a network.

It was black, it was red, it was white, and it cried, its tears turning into thousands of snowflakes covering the world in white.

And I, did I cry?

Not really, I am so stupid.

I, on the contrary, felt more overwhelmed, because for the first time in my life I looked at the moon for so long.

And it was so beautiful.

I cannot describe it.
