Noah stood his ground in the middle of the sitting room, his eyes locked onto Adam with a mixture of suspicion and desperation.
He needed to hear the truth from the man's own lips, regardless of how uncomfortable it might be. He took a deep breath and asked the question that had been burning a hole in his mind ever since Naya suggested her theory.
"Did you know about Kai's conduct before this?" Noah asked, his voice steady but laced with a hidden tremor.
"Did you always have that evidence, and you only chose to expose him now because he messed with you first? Did you let those people suffer just to wait for the right political moment?"
Adam looked at Noah, clearly not expecting such a blunt and accusatory question. He didn't immediately flare up in anger, however.
Deep down, he didn't really blame Noah for thinking this way. He understood that he hadn't exactly given the younger man much material to build a foundation of trust.
