The moment Noah shouted that the plan was crazy, Adam felt the small flicker of trust he had developed—that sixty percent belief in Noah's innocence—crash back down to forty percent.
His face, which had briefly softened as he listened to Noah's tragic story about his brother, turned into a mask of ice once again. He leaned back against his desk, crossing his arms over his chest as he glared at the younger man.
"What is this reaction?" Adam asked, his voice hardening. "Didn't you just ask me to provide you with a solution? This is my solution. Or were you lying to me all this while about being a victim? If you really didn't collude with Kai, why are you fighting the only way to fix your reputation?"
Noah felt like he was losing his mind. He had only met this man twice, and both times Adam had managed to drive him to the edge of a nervous breakdown.
