After I defeated the spider and became slightly stronger, I decided to explore the surrounding area, aka the forest, and since I completed the [defeat 1/3 enemies]
well, didn't complete it- only halfway through it. If the first fight went well, why not continue this quest? I don't have anything else to do at the moment, do I?.
Well, it's decided then.
After checking the big spider corpse...or spider monster? Nevertheless, after making sure that thing was dead. Even though the system pretty much said so, anyhow, after checking it, I continued exploring; I had to be careful, this spider did jump at me out of nowhere after all, for all I could know, there might be more lurking around, or I might even get attacked for revenge or something, no?
Well, either way, I continued exploring. Nothing seemed off- just a peaceful, normal forest. If that was the case, where did the spider come from? Yeah, right, I don't believe this forest is safe for even a second.
After a while of exploring and getting lost, I reached absolutely nowhere. This forest is really big, or I might be going the wrong way; I haven't encountered a single living creature- besides trees; trees are living creatures after all.
Just as I was thinking that, I saw something weird.
Yeah, weird. In a forest that could be full of monsters, caves aren't weird in forests after all. Yes, it wasn't a big tree either; all of that is normal in a forest environment. It was a man-made object, a hut...or a wooden house. If I had to say what it looks like, I would say it looked like a house a witch would live in, a very sane way of thinking; I'm in a fantasy world after all.
The question is if I should enter or not, because I'm in big trouble if there is someone inside. Well, not necessarily, but it's not like I'm able to open the door... yeah, how the hell am I supposed to open it?
I got closer to the house, turned around, making sure no one was there, until I reached the door and...huh? Was it open? ok, this is very suspicious. What kind of person would leave their door open in a dangerous forest like this? There are 2 or 3 answers.
. Answer number one: no one is inside, but that just says why would someone leave their door open while they are away, which gives us another assumption
. Answer number two: this place was abandoned. Which would make sense
. Answer number three: the person inside doesn't think of this forest as dangerous and probably is very confident in their abilities to defend themselves.
Now that that was out of the way, I am going to gather all the confidence I could muster, which isn't a lot...
Since the reason I was able to fight that monster was due to adrenaline, and yes, bugs have adrenaline.
Yes, bugs do have a stress response, but they don't produce adrenaline as humans do. Instead, they use a hormone called octopamine, which serves a similar function in their bodies. This hormone helps them react to threats and environmental pressures, enabling them to prepare for various stressors.
Now, since that was out of the way, I pushed the door slowly, making sure not to make a noise and wake up the people in the house; it is common courtesy, even if I was a bug now. Which would be all wrong.
Since I haven't mentioned at all that the sun is still out and shining, there would be no way whoever is inside is currently sleeping.
I pushed the door, not making a noise, and walked-my apologies, I crawled in.
The house wasn't spacious, and it wasn't cramped either. To the left of the door, there was a bed, a bunch of chests, and a closet; to the right was an old-looking oven, which made one of my suspicions correct: this place probably is, as I thought, a completely fantasy magic world with fairy tale attributes with no huge sign of technology whatsoever, which could be good or bad depending on how you view it.
I am very interested to see how far science has made it in this world with magic.
Since this world probably has magic, the fact that there was a giant spider, a system, and me is a confirmation of that.
The house was empty; it didn't have a second floor or any of that, just the things I listed. It would be surprising to find that someone still lives in this place.
Just as I was thinking that, I went to open the closet. It was filled with three rough clothes, a dress, and two cloaks, and some undergarments; safe to say this place was occupied by a female, I guess.
Just as I was looking at the contents of the closet, I heard a scream.
"Aaaah!"Her voice cracked as she screamed, clutching a staff with both hands directed at me.
What I saw upon turning around was a human girl that of a 14-year-old with natural pink hair made into a ponytail, with a staff directed at me; it would be cute if the girl wasn't holding a staff and had the intent of attacking me.
"shit did I leave the door open? How did you get it in!" asked the girl, which was more or less talking to herself. She didn't expect the bug to answer that question, because it was- well... a bug.
And thus, my first contact, which I had no idea what to do in such a situation.
