Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Wait a Moment

At this moment, the entire hall was as silent as death.

Everyone was staring wide-eyed and open-mouthed at me.

"Is this a movie scene or something?"

"Holy shit, what kind of monster is this?"

"He...he killed...killed someone!"

The young ladies at the front desk were so frightened that they hid behind the counter. In their eyes, the two security guards were already scary enough, yet this young man dressed in cheap clothes was even more frightening!

The key thing is they didn't even see him make a move!

I glanced at the two unconscious security guards, shook my head helplessly, then walked over to the waiting area of the hall and plopped down on the sofa. I even casually picked up a magazine and started reading, just like someone without a care in the world.

"By the way, do you know when Jessica Brown will be coming down?" I asked as I put down the magazine and suddenly looked at the few men in suits sitting next to me.

The businessmen who were originally waiting for Jessica Brown jumped up from the sofa in fright and ran outside.

They didn't want to die!

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. Is this necessary? Never mind, I'll wait a bit longer." I shook my head and continued reading the magazine in my hand.

...

The security department of The Apex Group immediately became aware of the incident and responded quickly, deploying more than a dozen security guards.

Each of the security guards was fully armed, holding a riot shield in their left hand and an electric baton in their right, surrounding me.

The security team leader, Roy Turner, arrived promptly. He glanced at the broken glass outside and the two injured security guards, furrowing his brows before approaching David.

Roy Turner, a retired special forces soldier, was no soft touch and was extremely skilled, yet when he saw David, he instinctively sensed a threat.

This was a death intuition honed from years on the edge of life and death!

Roy took a step forward and tested the waters: "Sir, causing trouble at The Apex Group like this isn't advisable. We've already called the police. It won't be long before you're surrounded."

I raised my head, glanced at Roy, and said plainly, "You must be the leader of those two. Aren't you going to understand the situation better? I'm just here to wait for someone."

Roy felt a jolt inside. He knew those two security guards' personalities were notorious for bullying, clearly having met their match today.

But how to handle this youth in front of him? The way this guy carried himself with such confidence, could he have someone backing him in the group?

Roy softened his tone a bit and asked, "Sir, may I know whom you're waiting for? I can help you notify them."

My face lit up with joy, and I quickly replied, "Jessica Brown."

Almost instantly, Roy's expression changed. If it were anyone else, he could indeed notify them. But Jessica Brown was different!

She was both the president and CEO of The Apex Group, and the heiress of the top Brown family in Northridge Province, the leader of the Three Crowns! She wasn't someone you could casually meet!

Moreover, Jessica had said before that she wouldn't meet anyone without an appointment!

The youth before him, in some ways, was very dangerous! He absolutely couldn't let him meet Miss Brown!

"I'm sorry, sir. Miss Brown is not here today. If you need anything, you can leave your contact information, and I'll pass along the message." Roy said.

I knew perfectly well that Jessica was upstairs. This time, I deliberately caused a scene to draw her out, so I definitely wouldn't let Roy pass on any message.

"I don't have anything to do this afternoon, so I'll just sit here. The Apex Group can't possibly not let me sit, right?"

Roy, seeing through David's intentions at a glance, snorted coldly, "Sir, you're refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit. In that case, I have no choice. Seize him!"

With those words, a dozen security guards advanced towards me, while Roy changed his fist to a claw, directly targeting my vital points!

He was well aware that the man on the sofa was extremely dangerous! He had to make a deadly move!

I still held the magazine, my expression calm, not taking the people before me seriously at all.

Just as Roy was about to touch me, a clear, cold voice rang out:

"Wait a moment!"

Hearing this voice, everyone stopped, and soon, a woman emerged from the crowd.

The woman had shining black hair down to her waist, and her figure was breathtakingly perfect. A white chiffon blouse paired with a knee-length skirt made her seem untouchable, like a goddess.

The moment she appeared, almost everyone present lost their focus! Because in the entire Apex Group, no one's beauty, except Sylvia Campbell, could match hers.

Roy's face turned slightly red, and he lowered his head respectfully, saying, "Director Moore."

Sarah Moore didn't respond; instead, her gaze was fixed intently on me.

There was a hint of surprise and astonishment in her eyes.

I felt the same!

My eyes shone like a beast eyeing its prey!

Because I recognized the woman in front of me!

Sarah Moore! One of the three women who had haunted my dreams for the past five years!

Years ago, we had been deskmates for a year. Later when we started high school, due to our different statuses, we lost contact.

I thought we wouldn't have much connection in our lifetimes until the incident at Mistwood Manor occurred. After being saved by my master at Deepwater Lake, I went to the Johnson Family.

At that time, the Johnson Family house had already been sealed off! The Johnson Family had become a target for everyone to destroy in Brooksdale!

Back then, all families publicly announced their severance from the Johnson Family and stopped any interaction!

At that time, the businesses in Brooksdale all banded together to take over The Apex Group, which my father had founded single-handedly.

At that time, there wasn't even anyone to erect a monument for our family of three!

Everyone was shrouded in the shadow of that man.

Except for one person, my middle school classmate Sarah Moore!

Sarah Moore ignored her family's objections and went to the morgue at Brooksdale's first hospital to retrieve the bodies of the Johnson couple, personally taking them to be cremated, and even erected a headstone for the three of them at Blackridge Mountain.

A woman who couldn't even kill a chicken, a woman who had no relation whatsoever with the Johnson Family, endured the slander and fear, allowing my parents' souls to rest in peace.

Not only did others not understand, but even I couldn't comprehend it.

What did I, David Johnson, ever do to deserve such kindness from a good girl?

...

After an unknown amount of time, Sarah Moore smiled at me, a smile as beautiful as a blossoming flower.

This smile made all the men present both envious and jealous.

Sarah Moore was the dream goddess of countless men in The Apex Group!

Over the year, Sarah received hundreds of love letters, but without exception, she rejected them all!

In fact, over this year, she had hardly smiled at any male at all!

Yet at this moment, she smiled at a country bumpkin?

What made this country bumpkin worthy?

Sarah Moore looked at me with interest, saying, "Looks like I must be seeing things. I almost thought you were my old classmate, and to be fair, you really do look like him."

After all, five years had passed. David had changed too much, and the average person really couldn't recognize him.

After speaking, Sarah patted Roy's shoulder and instructed, "Captain Turner, don't make things difficult for him. If he wants to wait, let him wait for a while."

Roy nodded and said no more.
