Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - Was It You

Sarah Moore threw a few cushions, panting heavily, and only then did she notice my peculiar gaze.

She glanced at where my eyes were directed and quickly realized, placing the cushions back on the sofa and pretending to be angry, "What scheme are you up to again?"

Perhaps due to the intense activity just now, Sarah's pure white T-shirt was stained with some fragrant sweat, and coupled with her flushed cheeks, she truly exuded charm.

I thought, if they continued living together like this, it would be dangerous for both of them!

Sparks and kindling, both still virgins, could they really hold back?

Sarah took a few deep breaths and then asked, "Are you really not going to see Jessica Brown? She's the eldest daughter of the Brown Family from Northridge Province, a stunning beauty. Can you resist?"

I took a sip of water, casually turned on the TV, and said nonchalantly, "I'm not in a hurry. If someone wants to see me, whether it's a dragon or a phoenix, they have to coil or soar for me. Not to mention the Northridge Province's Brown family heiress, I might not even meet the heiresses of the major families in Silverwood!"

Sarah had to admit that David was incorrigible; would he die if he didn't brag for a day?

She guessed he would regret it when he actually met Jessica Brown.

What man wouldn't fall to his knees under Jessica Brown' allure?

At that moment, the TV anchor interrupted with an important news update: ...the victim has been identified as Jack Hernandez, president of Brooksdale's Chamber of Commerce, and his son was also killed by the suspect. According to police, this was a premeditated murder, and the perpetrator's methods were extremely brutal. Citizens of Brooksdale City are advised to be cautious in the coming days and avoid staying out late...

Seeing this news, Sarah instinctively covered her mouth.

She had just seen Roy Hernandez and Jack Hernandez a few days ago! She hadn't been sleeping well for fear of their revenge!

She never imagined that these two would actually be killed!

Oh my god, this was the Hernandez Family of Brooksdale! Although not a top-tier family in Brooksdale, they held substantial influence!

Who dared to kill them? And the means were extremely cruel!

Sarah quickly took a sip of water to calm herself, then looked at David, noticing the playful glint in my eyes.

For a moment, she thought that David was the one who did it!

After all, David had the capability, and Jack Hernandez and Roy Hernandez' deaths would indeed be beneficial for him, at least eliminating the threat of revenge.

"Was it you?" Sarah couldn't help but ask.

I was slightly stunned, then I smiled, feigning a ruthless demeanor: "Yes, to be honest, I am a top assassin, scaling walls and killing without number. Are you sure you want to let me stay in your home? What if I get lascivious, hehe..."

Hearing this, Sarah finally sighed with relief. Because in this world, without evidence, no killer would admit to a crime.

And judging from David's appearance, he might be up for a fight, but certainly wouldn't dare to kill, especially not someone as prominent as someone from Brooksdale.

"Stop talking nonsense... These days, we'd better head home early. The killer is surely still in Brooksdale. Who knows when they might come for us. Did you hear me? Martinez't go out at night!"

Sarah said worriedly.

Then, she stood up and stretched lazily.

"I'm done. Shopping was too tiring today. I need to take a nap. You should rest too; you guys get even more exhausted shopping... Haha..."

As Sarah entered her room and the door clicked shut, an intense malevolence burst from me, as I muttered to myself: "Sarah, don't worry, that heinous monster may kill everyone else in the world, but he won't lay a finger on you. If anyone else dares to touch you, that monster will drag them down to Hell himself!"

The malevolence vanished.

I stood up, as I had to prepare a treatment for Samuel Thompson early the next morning, and couldn't wait for my appointment with Larry Martin. I had to buy extra herbal ingredients today to refine an elixir for Samuel Thompson.

This time, instead of going to Charity Hall, I chose to buy some necessary herbs from a nearby herbal store.

Although I was missing one herb, I did find a substitute.

Just as I was about to leave with a few bags of herbs, a tall beauty blocked my path.

It was Jennifer Mitchell, the one who had cuffed me the other day.

Today, Jennifer Mitchell wasn't in uniform, likely on her day off, and I almost didn't recognize her.

"What's this, feeling weak and needing some herbs to replenish?" Jennifer folded her arms, speaking with a hint of amusement.

I shrugged, didn't explain, and simply walked in the other direction.

I preferred not to get too tangled with this woman.

After ten steps, Jennifer's cool voice rang out: "That incident with the Hernandez family, was that you?"

I stopped in my tracks, my face expressionless, "I saw the news today, but Miss Mitchell, aren't you jumping to conclusions? Should everything be based on evidence?"

I was preparing to leave when Jennifer's voice sounded again behind me:

"True, arresting someone requires evidence. But I'm not here for the Hernandez incident; it's about something else. I'm curious, how did the boy who fell from Deepwater Lake five years ago survive?"

My eyes narrowed, and a chilling murderous aura spread!

I never expected that Jennifer Mitchell actually knew my identity!

Five years ago! Deepwater Lake! The only mishap was with me, that Johnson family disgrace, David Johnson!

Jennifer turned, her enchanting figure swaying as she stood before me: "Seems I guessed right; you really are that David Johnson who died five years ago. Unexpectedly, the once infamous Johnson family disgrace has returned, and with formidable strength..."

Before Jennifer could finish speaking, one of my large hands grasped her long neck, lifting her while a sense of impending death enveloped her entire being!

She felt as if she fell into an icy chasm!

"What do you want to express?"

A few seconds later, I flung Jennifer away, and she executed a flip mid-air to stabilize herself.

Her face was filled with horror!

Jennifer had trained in ancient martial arts. Although not very strong, she wasn't someone the average person could handle!

Yet just now, when David grabbed her, she felt a twinge of death, as if the power within her couldn't even have the chance to erupt!

It was as if surrounded by an unfathomable pressure!

Unconsciously, she took a step back, realizing David in front of her was far from being as simple as her investigation suggested!

Five years ago, he was a laughing stock in Brooksdale!

But five years later, this David Johnson had become an incredibly formidable force!

What on earth had he gone through in these five years?

Even if this boy began training in ancient martial arts from that day, it would have been too late. It was past the prime period, so how could he still become this powerful?

Numerous doubts swirled in Jennifer Mitchell' mind.
