[This Chapter goes into the facts about this world. Including basics about how demons get stronger, and their rankings. And General facts about the world. I would recommend familiarizing yourself with this section before moving on, or you can check it later on in the story.]
- Demon Rankings
The Demon Lord Catalyst made the ranking system to keep demons competitive and scale power effectively. The rankings he decided on are as follows:
SS rank: only 5 SS ranks demons can exist at one time. Catalyst is one of them. This tier was made for demons too powerful for S rank.
S rank: only 15 S rank demons can exist at one time. The S rank demons are far more powerful than A rank demons and are well known across the demons and humans.
A rank: only 50 A rank demons can exist at one time. The A rank demons are the highest spot any demon wants, many know they can't try for S rank.
B rank: any number of B rank demons can exist at any time.
C rank: any number of C rank demons can exist at any time.
D rank: any number of D rank demons can exist at any time.
E rank: any number of E rank demons can exist at any time.
F rank: any number of F rank demons can exist at any time.
- Types of demons.
There are two primary types of demons, Predator demons, and Sentient demons. Predator demons are mostly filled with hellish variations of animals. These demons cannot level up or change rank. Once they are born, that is what they will be for entirety. Sentient demons can talk and have an advanced thinking structure. These demons can level up and change rank when they get powerful enough.
- Leveling up
Demons level up by collecting XP. XP can be obtained by defeating other demons or creatures. Each demon gives a specific amount of XP. The higher rank a demon is, generally the more levels they have. The highest level recorded was level 1364, belonging to the SS rank demon Ignatius, the Demotic Dragon. All demons start at level 1. As demons get more levels, they get more powers and ability, or upgrade their old ones. Most demons can't choose what they get.
When leveling up demons occasionally get to upgrade their attributes, those being Strength (STR), Agility (AGI), Constitution (CON), Stamina (STA), Intelligence (INT), Wisdom (WIS), Charisma (CHA), and Mana (Mana). These Range from 1 (Basic) to 100 (Godlike) most demons when created have around 1-10 in each stat. No demon ever to exist has had all 8 maxed out before.
The attributes affect:
STR (General strength, Carrying capacity, Force of attacks, and other muscle related activities.)
AGI (Speed, Reflexes, Attack speed.)
CON (Health, HP (Hit points), and Recovery.)
STA ( Endurance, Lung capacity, and Energy.)
INT (Mental capacity, Language capacity, Logic, and Memory.)
WIS (Perception, Insight, Tactics.)
CHA (Persuasion, Confidence, and Seduction.)
MANA (Magic capacity and Magical understanding.)
- Demon Artifacts
Demons forge weapons and armor out of a special steel, called Hellsteel. It is far more durable and heat resistant than normal steel. Therefore, they need a special forge and a Hellsteel hammer to make such items. Several thousand are in the world, ranging from a special bell to a 4 ton war machine. They all have some form of magic capabilities, to use such magic, the expense of essence is required. Essence is gained by killing any organism, only demons can see and hold essence. Essence can be described as the currency of hell.
-Special steels
Godsilver - a white silver that is more durable and heat resistant than Hellsteel, it also burns demons.
Hellsteel - a black steel used to compete with Godsilver, while it is less powerful it is much more common.
Feygold - an ancient gold used for excessive jewelry and such. It is very soft and can be broken with ease.
Purified Hellsteel. - This Hellsteel is in fact, not purified. It was Hellsteel that was corrupted to the point of it being unbreakable and unmeltable. It is so hard to make and forge that only S rank and above demons have weapons made of it.
Ascended Godsilver - Godsilver made even more pure as to compete with Purified Hellsteel. It has the same properties as Purified Hellsteel.
- The difference between Souls and Hellspawn.
Souls are humans who lost their souls to a demon, which the demon can obtain through deals, force and the black market with the underworld (Where people go if they die). Hellspawn are the peoples of hell, with hot colored hair and eyes, and ash, pale, or white skin. Other hair colors exist, such as white, ash, and black.
Demons do not have souls, so if they die outside hell, they will reform there in a few days. But if they die inside hell, well... they perish forever.
