I drove Exodus against the shaft of the scythe, forcing Leonhart's guard wide before stepping into the opening. The divine blade swept across his chest, leaving another trail of golden light that refused to fade.
He immediately retaliated, the curved blade whistling toward my shoulder.
I caught it.
The force traveled through my arms, but this time I held my ground, twisting Exodus just enough to throw the scythe off its path before answering with another strike aimed at his side.
Leonhart barely slipped away.
"...You're smiling."
The words escaped before I even realized I'd said them.
I couldn't help it.
A laugh threatened to escape me as I chased after him again.
"You know, I think I finally figured it out."
Our weapons collided again, sparks scattering between us.
"You only look cool because nobody interrupts your speeches."
Leonhart frowned.
I stepped around another sweeping slash and answered with a quick thrust that forced him back onto the next headstone.
