The fight continued...
I sidestepped, barely, his blade grazing past my shoulder as I kept talking like I was in the middle of an argument instead of, you know, a life-or-death fight.
"I didn't ask for this!" I snapped, pointing vaguely at myself, at the sky, at everything. "I didn't sign up, I didn't volunteer, I didn't go 'hey yeah, trap me in some guy's body and make me your divine replacement, that sounds fun!'"
Steel rang again as I caught Leonhart's next strike, my arm jolting from the impact.
Okay, that one hurt.
"Second..." I shoved him back, breath coming faster now, irritation bleeding into something hotter, sharper, "...maybe she trusted me because I didn't try to control everything that breathes?!"
The system flickered.
Gabriel, still mid-breakdown somewhere else, obviously couldn't hear me.
Didn't matter.
I wasn't done.
"And third..."
Leonhart moved again.
Faster.
Stronger.
Right....he was still here. Minor detail.
