Chapter 9 - 9

The morning air was crisp, carrying faint hints of dew and clover. The baby mage lay on his stomach, tiny Star Magic orbs orbiting above him in patterns of purple, blue, and red. Today, the system nudged him toward something new: Begin integration of advanced abilities in miniature forms. Test multi-ally coordination with subtle strategic variation.

Yuno arrived first, calm and deliberate as always, carrying a small twig to trace patterns in the soil. The baby mage allowed a Hololow Purple orb to hover just above the twig, bending light subtly to trace arcs in sync with Yuno's movements. Asta came bounding in shortly after, tripping over a clump of grass but laughing uncontrollably. His unpredictable energy made controlling the orbs more challenging—but also provided perfect early training.

The first exercise was deceptively simple: three orbs spun around the baby mage, forming spirals that the boys needed to interact with cooperatively. One orb reversed trajectory mid-spin, a small-scale Reversal Red. Another orb shimmered faintly, bending light around itself like a miniature Nebula Veil. Yuno moved carefully, timing his touch perfectly, while Asta relied on pure reflex to follow the unpredictable paths.

The system whispered softly: Observe ally adaptation. Adjust multi-orb output. Maintain stability under variable conditions. The baby mage responded instinctively, letting the orbs react slightly to the boys' movements while keeping them on controlled paths. Each interaction taught precision, prediction, and adaptability—not only for himself, but for the boys learning to coordinate naturally with unseen forces.

Next, he experimented with early Celestia Barrage. Instead of overwhelming arcs of destructive energy, small streaks of Star Magic shot in quick succession between the orbs, barely brushing the ground. Yuno instinctively dodged or tapped in rhythm, while Asta leapt and lunged, laughing as he grazed a streak with his hand. The baby mage recorded every movement, mentally cataloging which patterns worked best for cooperative interaction.

For a break, he allowed the orbs to form simple defensive patterns—miniature shields hovering around the boys, barely perceptible but enough to guide their movements and reactions. Even in this small form, the early exercises developed both spatial awareness and team coordination.

By midday, small environmental factors were introduced. A gentle breeze from the open window caused the orbs to wobble slightly, forcing the boys to adapt. Yuno remained calm, anticipating shifts in trajectory, while Asta's raw determination carried him through chaotic movements. The baby mage subtly nudged the orbs to correct minor deviations, ensuring success without removing the challenge.

The system recorded progress: Miniature offensive and defensive integration complete. Ally coordination and adaptability advanced. Prepare for next phase: incremental complexity and expanded abilities.

As the sun began to dip, the three lay on the grass, exhausted but exhilarated. Tiny arcs of Star Magic hovered lazily above them, reflecting the golden light. Friendships strengthened, bonds of trust solidified, and the baby mage's early Star Magic experiments had grown into deliberate, coordinated exercises.

Even in infancy, he was shaping not only his own future, but subtly influencing Yuno and Asta, laying the groundwork for the brotherhood that would one day define their shared destiny. And as twilight painted the sky, the baby mage's Star Magic flickered gently, a silent promise that the rising star had begun to shine.
