Chapter 111: Help Me
Yao Yan, naturally unaware of Cai Lin's thoughts, was currently accompanying Cai Die as they wandered through the bustling city streets. As the central city of the Tagor Desert—and the royal capital of the Snake-People Tribe—it was unsurprisingly lively. Aside from the numerous snake-people, many human merchants had shops set up here as well.
Clearly, the Snake-People Tribe hadn't completely cut ties with the outside world. There were still plenty of human merchants who maintained friendly relations and were allowed to trade within their territory.
The harsh environment and resource scarcity of the Tagor Desert meant that anything that managed to grow or develop here was incredibly rare and precious in the human world. For example, the Mandala Flower—an essential ingredient in refining a tier-four pill—could only be found in small quantities within the Snake-People's domain, making it a major draw for traders.
Yao Yan walked alongside Cai Die, taking in the exotic charm of the tribe. Countless graceful snake-women swayed their waists alluringly as they passed—truly a feast for the eyes.
"Profit really is the greatest motivator," he muttered, glancing at the human merchants. Their strength was mediocre—some weren't even Dou Practitioners. Yet here they were, daring to do business in the heart of snake-people territory. That took guts.
Cai Die giggled at his comment, her flawless face lit up with a playful smile. "It's not just profit—they're trying to stay alive. My sister poisoned them. If they want to live, they have to behave~"
She covered her mouth and laughed softly, her bright eyes sparkling mischievously.
Yao Yan froze for a moment. Well, that explains it... he muttered to himself. It actually made perfect sense. With Cai Lin's domineering nature, there was no way she would willingly collaborate with weaklings. In a fantasy world, strength dictated the rules. If you wanted to live, you had to play by the rules of the strong.
Cai Die added, "Besides, they're not good people. No need to pity them."
After all, good people wouldn't risk venturing into the Tagor Desert.
Yao Yan nodded and continued walking. With his soul force, he scanned the shops and stalls effortlessly, instantly registering every item. But none of them caught his attention—until Cai Die tugged his sleeve and brought him to a crescent-shaped lake.
The clear water shimmered like a mirror, undisturbed and serene—like a sapphire embedded in a field of golden sand.
"This is my favorite place, Young Master~" Cai Die said with a bright smile. She spread her Dou Qi wings and took his hand, lifting them both into the air and flying toward the center of the lake.
As they soared across the surface, water splashed in their wake.
In the sunlight, a dazzling rainbow arched behind them, painting an almost dreamlike scene.
Soon, Cai Die let go of Yao Yan and began dancing playfully around him. Her soft, boneless body moved with elegance, every smile and gesture like a painting etched into Yao Yan's memory. It felt like time had stopped.
Her enchanting snake tail swayed gently, releasing a subtle allure. Her graceful movements seemed to carry an almost magical pull, drawing every bit of attention toward her.
Yao Yan felt like she was teasing him. Who dances like this in broad daylight? Especially when she had no idea just how much "fire" he was suppressing. He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and gently grasped her delicate hand. With a slight pull, he brought her into his arms, stared into her startled eyes, and lowered his head to kiss her.
She was soft.
A unique sweetness lingered—he couldn't help but savor it, deepening the kiss.
…
Meanwhile, in the palace, Cai Lin's eyes suddenly glazed over. Her usual cold and lazy purple gaze flickered with embarrassment and fury. Her fists clenched tightly. She wanted to fly over and stop whatever was happening—but couldn't find a good excuse. She bit her lip, suppressing a strange emotion surging within her. Damn it!
A bitter feeling rose in her heart. She couldn't let this continue. She needed to find a way to sever the link between her and her sister. While their empathic bond was useful during cultivation or battle, it was absolutely not suitable when dealing with men.
Cai Lin rubbed her forehead, forcing herself to suppress the turbulent feelings. She told herself she could endure this!
But soon she realized she had underestimated Yao Yan—the moment of impact caused her seductive purple snake tail to coil slightly, as if stimulated.
…
Back at the lake, Cai Die regained a sliver of reason. She grabbed Yao Yan's wandering hand, her peach blossom eyes misty with tears. Trembling slightly, she said, "We can't… my sister will feel it!"
She had no idea how much those words ignited Yao Yan. The fire in his body didn't calm down—it blazed hotter. Damn Flame Mantra… and that damned heavenly flame!
He knew if he pushed too far, Cai Lin would definitely intervene.
But all problems had solutions.
Their empathic bond was limited to the sisters' sensations—not him. So, he leaned down and whispered devilishly in Cai Die's ear, "If you don't want your sister to know… then help me."
"??"
Cai Die blinked, her teary eyes full of confusion. She clearly didn't understand what he meant.
Yao Yan gently traced her lips with a finger, lowering his gaze.
It didn't take long for her to realize what he meant. Her beautiful face flushed a deep crimson, practically glowing. Her voice trembled more. "N-no… we can't!"
"I don't want to either… but it's a side effect from refining the heavenly flame. The fire inside me is growing stronger by the second—I feel like I'm about to explode!"
Yao Yan gently stroked her cheek, holding her tighter, trying to coax her.
It wasn't exactly a lie. The aftereffects of devouring the Green Lotus Core Flame were very real. He had simply been suppressing them through willpower—until now. Who among hot-blooded youths could stay indifferent in a moment like this?
Certainly not Yao Yan.
"Die… help me~"
He held her soft little hand, earnestly pleading.
Cai Die wanted to refuse. But seeing the way he looked at her, she couldn't bear to leave him suffering. She was on the verge of tears. Finally, she whispered so quietly it was almost inaudible, "Young Master, I… I don't know how~"
"Just try. It's easy."
Yao Yan coaxed her gently.
Cai Die bit her soft lips, and despite herself… gave in to his persuasion…
