Rito opened his eyes and saw the sky was blue and clear. The sunlight shone warmly on his face, making him squint in comfort.
A light breeze passed by. He felt the scent of grass mixed with earth.
The fresh air really did make people feel good. Rito smiled.
Then, his smile froze.
"What?" He murmured, his head confused. "Where... how...?"
With a foggy mind, he looked at himself. He was wearing the same clothes as before.
"Ahh, ahhh..."
The voice was the same...
"Did I transmigrate again or not?" He murmured softly.
He began to recall how he caught the attention of Lala's pursuers, and after that, he didn't know what happened. His mind simply blacked out.
The most obvious options were either he was killed by them, or he was put to sleep...
Either way, it still didn't explain why he ended up in this place.
"What is this place anyway?" He grumbled as he stood up and looked around, dazed.
He was in a grassy field. The fresh grass was still covered with morning dew. As the wind blew, the grassy plain flowed like waves.
The view was nice, but why was he there?
'Lala or one of her father's goons brought me here?' Rito wondered: 'Now that I think about it... Lala was really cute, but also very sexy.'
*Rustling!*
Suddenly, Rito heard a rustling sound coming from behind his back.
It was as if something was running through the grass, getting louder as it approached him.
Rito turned around, feeling the hairs on his arms stand up.
"What the hell...!" Rito cursed loudly and raised his guard.
Emerging from the tall grass, he saw a white rabbit!
Of course, it wasn't just any white rabbit, or there wouldn't be a reason for such alarm.
In fact... It was a rabbit about a meter tall!
Looking at the giant white rabbit, Rito didn't dare underestimate it.
From his knowledge, there shouldn't be a rabbit that big, at least not a normal one, so if this was still Earth, it must be a supernatural being. The fact that it wasn't showing fear of him, and even seemed to be sizing him up, said a lot.
Its long ears perked up while its blood-red eyes fixed on him.
The rabbit's mouth opened. That was when Rito noticed something peculiar about this rabbit—it didn't seem to be vegetarian, as it started looking at him as if it wanted to eat him.
'What the hell!' Rito cursed in his mind while cautiously looking around for something to use, be it a stick or even a rock.
The rabbit's white teeth somewhat resembled the teeth of a piranha.
Definitely not a normal rabbit!
This rabbit is super cute, so why are its teeth so terrifying and sharp!?
Rito took a step back, still cautious.
He wasn't some Bruce Lee, but he knew a bit about self-defense.
Unfortunately, there was nothing around that could be used as a weapon.
Running didn't seem like a viable option either; from the speed at which this rabbit appeared, it was clear that if he turned his back, this white rabbit would easily catch up to him.
The man and the rabbit stared at each other.
Suddenly, Rito wanted to rub his eyes because he seemed to see some kind of aura around this rabbit.
Meanwhile, sweat dripped down Rito's forehead.
'It can't be magic power or something like that, can it...?'
In the end, he was just an ordinary person; there was no way he could defeat a supernatural rabbit.
Rito felt an extremely heavy mental pressure as he was stared down by the rabbit's blood-red eyes. Soon, more sweat accumulated on his forehead. His mouth went dry, and he couldn't help but swallow a bit of saliva.
*Whoosh!*
At that moment, the powerful legs of the enormous rabbit leaped against the ground, producing only a faint thud. A mix of grass blades and dirt was thrown into the air as the giant rabbit turned into a white streak and rapidly approached Rito.
The distance between them shrank by dozens of meters in just a few seconds. The giant rabbit closed in on Rito. Its paws, once soft and fluffy, transformed into a lethal scythe, tearing into Rito's chest with a cold glint.
...
"Ahhhhh!"
In a dimly lit room, Rito suddenly opened his eyes and sat up while screaming. He was panting heavily, and fear still lingered in his eyes. His hair and clothes were drenched in cold sweat.
He licked his dry lips with his tongue. Had he just died?
He had experienced the sensation of death on Earth. He didn't expect to go through it again so soon.
*Creak!*
Someone opened the door.
It was a girl with golden-brown eyes and brown hair, very cute.
She shouted: "Rito, shut up!"
Rito was stunned right after.
He quickly brought both hands to his chest but found no wounds. He sighed and then noticed his younger sister at the door, looking at him as if she were observing someone with mental issues.
"For heaven's sake, at least make less noise early in the morning." She sighed and closed the door again.
Sitting on the bed, he stayed there, expressionless.
'Can someone tell me what the hell is going on!?'
He felt like screaming.
The pain was real; it didn't seem like it was just a dream, so... What the hell was that exactly?
Everything happened so fast that he didn't even react properly until his chest was torn open by that enormous rabbit.
Did someone save him and heal him? Was it Lala?
"Rito! When are you going to get up?"
Mikan's voice interrupted his train of thought.
However, before leaving the room, a strange and familiar feeling about what had happened hit him.
It was a weird sense of déjà vu.
Scratching his face, he stopped overthinking it.
...
"Rito, I like you, let's get married!"
Because of what happened yesterday, he thought he wouldn't see her again, at least not so soon.
But... On the way to school, once again, Lala appeared before him, this time coming from the sky.
She was wearing that outfit that looked like a cosplay while declaring her feelings for him.
As someone who knew the original plot, he understood why she was doing this, but he didn't mind.
She was beautiful, and even though she came with a lot of problematic baggage, she was worth it.
"I like you too, Lala. It was love at first sight." He said: "I accept marrying you."
It wasn't a lie that he liked her; since he watched the anime, he felt attracted to her, even as a 2D character. He even got annoyed when she didn't appear as much after new characters were introduced. In the anime, she was his favorite, and seeing her in person, what he felt for her reignited.
"I'm so happy~!" She let go of his hands and hugged him.
He returned the hug.
"Then let's get married, Rito~!" She rubbed her cheeks against his.
