Chapter 2: Dawn of a New Era
As the first light of morning tried to awaken the town to another ordinary day, a flurry of activity engulfed the town. The reason was a massive fleet approaching the harbor and its leader: Vice Admiral Doberman.
Everyone had the same question: Why had so much power come to this small town? The answer lay in Doberman's piercing gaze; he had tracked down two ancient powers and come to find their bearers.
But the new owners of these powers were unaware of what had befallen them.
Kai was filled with alarm as he watched the fleet from the window. Getting into a fight with the World Government when he couldn't even control his own powers was tantamount to suicide.
But Morde felt something else entirely. There was a dangerous glint in his eyes. The dark energy coursing through his veins practically whispered to him: "Use me... test me..."
"Look, Morde," Kai whispered anxiously, "If we attract their attention, we fall into the hands of the World Government. Once we become their target, we will never escape."
But this warning wasn't enough to curb Morde's rising passion. Was this the first curse of the shadows' power? The desire for unlimited power?
And that was it. The two friends' paths diverged so clearly for the first time.
In a moment of decision, Morde sprinted toward Vice Admiral Doberman's plaza. He was determined to unleash the storm within him, to test the true power of the shadows for the first time.
Kai stared after his friend. He realized there was nothing he could do. With a deep sense of pain and abandonment, he sped away toward the other side of town, toward the forest.
