Zain's POV
Inside the sleek black Rolls Royce, Carry and I occupied the back seat.
Carry had been weeping endlessly, and even though the tears had stopped, her body still shook with lingering sobs.
Eventually, Joanna appeared at the school gates. Following my usual routine, I stepped out and pulled the car door open for her.
Joanna's eyes were swollen red, and she gazed at me with deep appreciation. "Zain, thank you."
I offered her a tight, forced smile before circling back to my seat.
Carry sat between Joanna and me.
Joanna's wounded finger remained unbandaged. She'd pressed tissues against it to stem the bleeding, but the solution was clearly temporary.
She made no mention of any discomfort, though. The moment she settled into the car, she turned toward Carry. "Carry, I'm sorry. I acted without thinking, and now people are gossiping about you because of my actions. This is all my doing."
