Blanche's POV
The officer nodded without missing a beat. "Sure thing, we'll get right on it."
After making sure I was okay, he stepped out of my hospital room.
He returned shortly after.
Pulling up a chair beside my bed, the officer looked sheepish. "We just checked, but the security camera in that room's busted."
My heart dropped like a stone.
Anger flared in my chest, tears stinging my eyes. I snapped at him, "Then what's the point of telling me? Go check the other cameras—don't just stand there doing nothing!"
The officer's voice went soft when he saw how worked up I was. "Hey, it's fine. We've got everything documented. Leave it to us."
That wasn't good enough for me. I wanted Ophelia, Kaden, Ashlee, and Nathan thrown in jail right now.
But since he'd already said his piece, I couldn't keep losing it and making a scene.
After the officer left, it dawned on me—the Jacob family had probably already cleaned up their mess.
