While examining the Diricawl's body, Leo controlled a quill to record data. These little fat birds were no longer afraid of Leo, flashing around him. Even when Leo gently picked them up to examine them, they thought it was play.
Having this animal affinity made close-range data measurement much more convenient. It also saved him from having to use sleep-inducing incense to knock them out first before measuring.
When he observed the Mooncalves last time, maybe he didn't need to burn incense—he could have just walked over boldly? Never mind; at that time Aurelius had just awakened, and he hadn't noticed his animal affinity trait.
When observing magical creatures in the future, he'd still hide first and record their natural living states. Then summon Aurelius to calm those magical creatures.
Looking at Aurelius, it was surrounded by Diricawls, with one or two young birds occasionally teleporting onto its back. Aurelius didn't drive them away but gently licked the young birds.
You could clearly see that the licked young birds became more lively and their calls more cheerful. Truly worthy of being an auspicious creature, Leo couldn't help but think.
As the Qilin's master, he had gained animal affinity traits, so the Qilin itself must be even stronger. When Aurelius appeared just now, those Diricawls immediately dropped their guard. If he hadn't been nearby, they probably would have immediately cuddled up to it.
Wait, hadn't Aurelius said that when it went to Hagrid's vegetable garden before, Fang was very afraid of it? Had Aurelius scared Fang? That shouldn't be possible.
Hagrid had mentioned that Fang was very timid. Could it be that Fang was afraid when seeing strange creatures, even if the other party was an auspicious Qilin? Maybe he'd test it when he had a chance.
Leo suppressed his thoughts and continued recording Diricawl data. He also collected some of their scattered feathers—these were also common magical materials.
After completing the Diricawl records, Leo patted Aurelius. "Alright, we can go back."
Inside Hagrid's hut, Harry was reciting knowledge points under his breath. "Ink grass must have its black juice washed clean... Armadillo bile should first be filtered through crystal funnels, filtered three times..."
Hagrid was stirring at an iron pot with a ladle, cooking dinner. Considering that Leo and Harry might stay for dinner, he'd deliberately made extra.
Knocking sounds came from the door. Hagrid got up to answer it, while Harry's recitation speed increased.
"Oh, Leo, you're back. Want to stay for dinner?"
Leo nodded, unconsciously agreeing. When he entered the house and saw a large claw from some unknown creature sticking out of the bubbling soup in the iron pot, Leo's heart sank.
He'd forgotten about Hagrid's questionable cooking. What kind of claw was that? Well, certainly not something a Softening Charm could fix.
But seeing Hagrid's extremely happy expression, Leo felt too embarrassed to make excuses and leave, especially after Hagrid had helped him so much. It was just one meal. At worst, he'd cook some proper dishes to share later—using magic to cook was very fast anyway.
"Harry, how's the memorisation going?"
"Pretty much, almost done."
Leo nodded and sat down across from Harry: "Alright, then, let's start the dictation."
Harry's fingers gripping the book stiffened: "Well, oh right, the magic books I had Hagrid help retrieve are here. Take a look first."
Harry moved out a thick book from beside him and pushed it in front of Leo. Leo glanced at it—the cover looked like dragon hide with a large gilded "P".
So this was the Potter family's magic book. It was quite a thick volume—hadn't Harry noticed it when he went to his Gringotts vault? Had he really been blinded by the glittering Galleons?
He wondered what knowledge was recorded inside.
Just as Leo was about to open this magic book, he noticed Harry was still watching him.
"Harry, why are you looking at me? Start your dictation."
"Aren't you going to read the book? I can wait a bit longer."
Leo flipped through the book: "You write yours, I'll read mine. Isn't this perfect? You have twenty minutes to write out the knowledge I asked you to memorise."
As he spoke, Leo took out the transformation pocket watch that actually couldn't tell time and opened it with a click: "Well, you now have nineteen minutes and fifty-five seconds."
Hearing this, Harry quickly picked up his pen and began writing. Leo put away the watch and shook his head gently. This was just a kid trying to delay time to avoid homework.
He began reading the Potter family's magic book. Not bad—it was indeed knowledge related to alchemy and potions. No wonder this family could accumulate wealth through potions. It seemed that besides Harry's mother, his father's line was also very good at potions, so it wasn't strange that potion talent was inherited.
Sticking plaster, smoothing water, nose-clearing potion... Among those alchemical potions applied to magical puppets or medical potions for healing, Leo suddenly noticed a very interesting potion.
Delayed Blast: Main ingredients are Erumpent explosive fluid and Acromantula venom, mixed in a 7.9:2.1 ratio, then add auxiliary materials... Can create solid explosive potions that cannot be ignited by flame, but will produce extremely violent explosions when struck a second time after receiving the first impact.
Comment from inventor Bole Potter: Only supremely powerful magic and explosions are truth—even delayed truth is still truth!
Looking at this potion, Leo was very interested. Was this the magical world's version of a delayed bomb? And it was triggered by impact force—truly interesting.
Perhaps it could be used to create special magical bullets? If he could design the right structure, he should be able to achieve secondary acceleration effects or simple explosive bullets.
As for raw materials, there were quite a few Acromantulas in the Forbidden Forest, including one that was Hagrid's old friend. As for Erumpent explosive fluid, he could either ask Hagrid to help purchase it, or write to Newt—he probably raised Erumpents.
This Bole Potter was also quite a character. Leo turned to the next page and saw the first line in bright red letters: "When brewing Delayed Blast, be sure to take safety precautions! Ancestor Bole ultimately died in an explosion accident."
Such an important reminder should have been written on the previous page!
After looking through some more potions, Leo closed the book and began grading Harry's dictation. After a series of crosses and checks: "Well, not bad. I can see you worked hard memorising."
Just as Harry was about to sigh in relief: "Copy the wrong knowledge points four times, and retake dictation on these incorrect parts tomorrow."
"Another dictation?"
"Should wrong answers just stay wrong?"
Harry lowered his head dejectedly, but suddenly seemed to remember something. He pulled two potion bottles from his pocket and handed them to Leo.
"Leo, could you help me check if their effects are qualified?"
Leo took them and opened the caps. Eye-Brightening Potions. Oh right, there was Snape's Potions class tomorrow.
Leo seemed to think of something interesting and looked at Harry with a smile: "These potions are fine."
