Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: You Want to Learn Potions from Me? Loyalty!

"Wait, you want me to teach you what?"

Leo's confused response left Harry momentarily bewildered before he clarified earnestly: "Ah, no... it's Potions, Leonardo. I want to ask you to teach me how to brew potions properly."

Leo sighed inwardly. Alright, no one was going to appreciate that particular joke.

"So you want me to tutor you in Potions specifically?"

Harry nodded with obvious eagerness.

Setting aside his humorous mood, Leo seriously considered Harry's unexpected request. Why did this boy suddenly want to learn Potions with such determination?

Oh, it seemed Harry planned to follow his earlier advice about brewing Eye-Brightening Potion, then removing his glasses during Snape's classes.

Snape really had left quite a psychological shadow on Harry, enough to force him into proactive studying.

Seeing Leo hadn't responded immediately, Harry quickly added with desperate enthusiasm: "Don't worry, Leonardo! I'll pay proper tutoring fees! How many Galleons do you want?"

Regarding the monetary compensation Harry mentioned, Leo felt relatively indifferent. He didn't particularly need those few coins. Although the Potter family possessed a long heritage and considerable accumulated wealth within the wizarding world, Leo's own Grafton family had built equally impressive success in the Muggle realm.

How many so-called nobles and celebrities throughout Britain had to curry favour with Aunt Penelope? How many of their offspring had to please him as the Grafton heir?

Whether Muggle or wizarding, families that could survive for centuries through changing times had accumulated immeasurable wealth, connections, knowledge, experience, and more.

Wait... knowledge?

Leo suddenly realised a crucial oversight. Would an ancient wizarding family like the Potters leave Harry only Galleons and an invisibility cloak? Impossible. Even Muggle families passed down their survival methods from generation to generation, whether in government or commerce.

Wouldn't wizarding families leave behind magical secrets? Wouldn't they preserve rare spells? Wouldn't they maintain exclusive potion or alchemical formulas?

Suddenly, Leo's gaze toward Harry transformed completely, filling with genuine enthusiasm for the inherited knowledge and family collections that might be waiting.

However, Leo deliberately slowed his tone, speaking as if genuinely heartbroken: "Harry, we're friends. How can you insult me with money?"

Harry immediately panicked. He desperately wanted to learn Potions now and wanted to escape Snape's persecution during the next class!

"No, no, no, Leonardo! I was wrong; I shouldn't have..."

Leo directly interrupted his frantic apology: "However, you know me well. I love reading books and love learning new knowledge."

"If you're willing to lend me some books to study, tutoring you in Potions won't be any problem at all!"

Harry stared in amazement, hardly believing what he'd heard. "You only want books? And just to borrow them temporarily?"

Leo spread his hands with matter-of-fact casualness: "What else would I want? After reading books thoroughly and absorbing the knowledge within, aren't books as knowledge carriers primarily for collecting and commemoration?"

"Oh, naturally, displaying them on home library shelves to create impressive collections for showing off to visitors represents another practical use."

Harry nodded repeatedly with obvious relief: "Right, right, you're absolutely correct!"

"But... I don't actually have any magic books currently..."

Thinking of this limitation, Harry anxiously adjusted his glasses with obvious worry.

Observing Harry's distress, Leo couldn't suppress a sympathetic sigh. This boy probably just grabbed a large bag of Galleons and departed when visiting his Gringotts vault, not bothering to notice if anything else was stored there.

"Don't worry, Harry. Do you honestly think your family, the Potter family, a wizarding lineage with centuries of heritage, might have left you some intellectual wealth beyond mere gold?"

Harry scratched his messy hair with obvious embarrassment: "Well, I... I didn't really notice carefully. It seems like there were a few books positioned behind that pile of Galleons at Gringotts."

Hearing this confirmation, Leo thought: Right, this kid indeed just took the money and left immediately.

"Don't worry, Leonardo! Even if my family didn't leave me magic books, I have plenty of money. I'll go purchase books for you!"

Leo raised his hand with gentle correction: "Say it again... borrow."

"Those volumes were left by your family specifically for you, their descendant. Intangible knowledge proves far more precious than visible currency."

Harry nodded like an enthusiastic bobblehead, deeply agreeing with this assessment. "What you're saying makes perfect sense, Leonardo. Even though I don't completely understand the deeper meaning, it just feels absolutely right!"

"You're truly a warm-hearted, generous person, willing to tutor me and teach Potions while only wanting to borrow books. You're a perfect Ravenclaw!"

"No, someone as helpful as you should transfer to Hufflepuff. Oh wait, anyone as loyal to friends as you should come to our Gryffindor!"

Listening to Harry's endless expressions of praise while observing his devoted expression as if ready to charge through fire and water for him, Leo couldn't help but marvel: This child's sorting into Gryffindor was absolutely correct. The Sorting Hat had made no mistakes whatsoever!

"Stop, thank you for the flattering praise." Leo gestured for calm. "Harry, have you considered where we'll conduct these tutoring sessions and brew potions safely?"

Harry answered without hesitation, having clearly given this practical matter serious thought: "I actually have an idea. We can visit Hagrid's place."

"Leonardo, do you remember? The giant man who led us across the lake... Hagrid."

Leo nodded with casual acknowledgement: "Of course I remember. Someone of his... distinctive appearance is rather hard to forget."

Harry's suggestion to visit Hagrid actually reminded Leo of his own pressing needs. He required space to cultivate ten Carnivorous Cabbages and needed a suitable plot of land, preferably away from crowds and unlikely to attract unwanted attention.

Hagrid lived right beside the Forbidden Forest. Could he request a patch of empty land for gardening purposes?

If the location was just at the forest's edge, it would prove convenient for Leo to access and tend his experimental crops regularly.

Leo knew Harry had developed a positive relationship with Hagrid. With Harry's assistance in persuasion, the chances of success should prove quite favourable.

The sooner he planted, the better. To compress the Carnivorous Cabbages' natural two-month growth cycle into one month, he couldn't afford to waste precious time.

"Let's go then."

Leo strode toward the Forbidden Forest, gesturing for Harry to follow.

Harry called after him urgently: "But I haven't collected my potion-making tools yet!"

Leo indicated the various items floating beside him through practised Levitation Charms. These represented cauldrons and other equipment from his morning Potions class that he hadn't found time to return to his dormitory.

"Just use mine for now."

"Harry, since you've chosen to learn from me, let me establish something important first." Leo's tone grew more serious and instructional. "Learning knowledge requires seizing every available moment. If you don't compete with others for advancement, others will definitely compete with you."

Harry followed behind Leo with a confused but trusting expression, having absolutely no idea he had chosen a "teacher" who would fundamentally change his entire approach to magical education.
